If the ideal 25 man roster looks like this and KW can accomplish it, then I'm all in on the Dunn signing. If having Dunn means not having one of the starting pitchers, then it's a wash. Starters Pierre- LF Rios- CF Q- RF Dunn-1b/DH Paulie-1b/DH Beckham-2b Alexei- SS Morel-3b AJ/Flowers/free agent-C Bench Omar Teahen Lillibridge Castro De Aza/Viciedo Pitchers Buehrle Gavin Danks Edwin Peavy Sale Thornton Linebrink Pena Santos One more stable bullpen arm The only real question that would remain would be who's going to take on the closer role.

I'm more interested in the names on the back of the jerseys than what logo they use on the shoulder.

Yankees asked for permission to talk to Coop
TheChrisSamsa replied to TheChrisSamsa's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 5, 2010 -> 11:45 AM) You bought a ticket to see a legendary manager in his last season who you had never seen before. Kinda not the same idea. I know, but I bought a ticket to see the manager, which was the action in question. -
Yankees asked for permission to talk to Coop
TheChrisSamsa replied to TheChrisSamsa's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 5, 2010 -> 09:12 AM) I can tell you with 100% certainty that I have never, in the hundreds of games I have been to in my lifetime, bought a ticket because of who the manager was. Never. I'd love to hear from anyone else who has, but I have never heard anyone say that "Hey I want to get up and see the Twins and Sox so that I can see that Ron Gardenhire in action!" I bought a ticket to a White Sox/Braves game to see Bobby Cox this year. I may or may not have attended the game anyway, but that was the final determining factor. I had never seen the man in person, and figured it was my last chance. -
Per Scott Merkin's Twitter. 40 man roster now at 31.

Twitter: @SI_JonHeyman: #yankees asked #chisox for permission to interview pitching coach don cooper, but were rebuffed by chi. cooper has 1 yr to go on contract. So, Joey Cora is in the mix for managerial jobs, Coop is wanted by the Yankees, Hahn was interviewed for at least one GM job. It seems like the coaching staff and front office are pretty well respected throughout the league. I'm not sure what it means for the White Sox, but there's a lot of really good baseball people in the organization.

A Morel/Vizquel combination at 3B doesn't sound so bad.

Uribe was extremely streaky this year, as he always is. He carried the Sox for a few stretches during his tenure here. Right now, he's streaky at the right time, maybe something he learned from Joe Crede.. Those home run jazz-hands look good in the World Series though.

QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Oct 3, 2010 -> 05:20 PM) When it was time to run out and the team made Paulie run out alone, and then AJ. TOTAL CLASS. That was one of the coolest things I've ever seen, in a season full of classy Sox moments (Frank Thomas day, Nancy's goodbye). God I hope Paulie and AJ are back next year. I loved this. This moment, and how/when Ozzie took them out of the game was extremely well handled, classy, and respectable.

TheChrisSamsa replied to Night Train Veeck's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Night Train Veeck @ Oct 1, 2010 -> 12:34 PM) Then you should come over and join in! Love to have ya next year! Shoot me your email address and ill keep ya posted. unfortunately, this will be my first/only game this year in the 500 level, with "no access" to the 100 level. If I can manage to scoot by the 100 level guard, I'll come check it all out. I'll PM you my email so you can keep me updated next season. -
Root for or against the Twins in the playoffs?
TheChrisSamsa replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The first world series I remember is the 1991 classic with the Twins and the Braves. Kirby Puckett was my favorite player besides Frank Thomas during that era. Even now knowing the long standing history between the White Sox and Twins, I can't help but have a little soft spot for them when they're in the playoffs and the Sox aren't. -
Jenks wants to pitch one more time in 2010
TheChrisSamsa replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Anyone think the Sox are keeping Jenks from playing in a game because they want to re-sign him cheap because other teams will worry about his health? -
Revival of Sox Supporters Game (10/1)

I'd be in on this, but I already got seats for $1 a piece. I'm all for it, and I'll be staring right at you guys! Bring it hard tonight! I want this to make it to next year so I can enjoy in the festivities! -
Root for or against the Twins in the playoffs?
TheChrisSamsa replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 24, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) Usually I root against the Twins in the playoffs this year I wouldn't mind seeing them win so that Thome can get a WS championship. This. -
QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Sep 14, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) Strange how the last 26 out of 29 games are against our own division Yeah.. I'm pretty sure MLB did that on purpose, kind of how the NFL did the same with the last two weeks of the season this year.

This season has been so weird, seriously anything can still happen and I wouldn't be surprised.

When did Danks become such a mental midget? -
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) minny will have to lose again at some point! if you're assuming that, then you're assuming the same about the White Sox.

Kotsay- 297 AB Damon- 462 AB 165 more plate appearences make that .024 a little better, and the rest of the stats look even worse.

CBS LEAGUE (12 team, 3 wr, no flex, 5 bench) QB- Joe Flacco RB- Steven Jackson RB- Jamaal Charles WR- Anquan Boldin WR- Hakeem Nicks WR- Mike Sims-Walker TE- Owen Daniels K- Jeff Reed DST- Chargers Bench QB- Ben Roethisberger RB- Justin Forsett RB- Donald Brown WR- Robert Meachem TE- Greg Olsen (grabbed him incase Daniels doesn't play much in the first few weeks) I'm pretty happy with how this team turned out, especially if Forsett is the #1 back in Seattle, which he should be, then my depth at RB will make up for my lack of depth at WR ESPN LEAGUE (12 team, rb/wr Flex, 7 bench): QB-Peyton Manning RB- DeAngelo Williams RB- Cedric Benson WR- Roddy White WR- Donald Driver Flex- Justin Forsett TE- Tony Gonzalez DST- New Orleans K- *didn't draft one* Bench WR- Vincent Jackson WR- Santonio Holmes WR- Hines Ward WR- Nate Burleson QB- Matt Moore RB- Ladainian Tomlinson RB- Laurence Moroney TE- Jeremy Shockey I'm not extremely excited about this team, but it's a really competitive and active keeper-league with deep benches, so there's plenty of trades to be made. I went deep on my bench with WR because Vincent Jackson and Santonio Holmes both won't be starting the season with their teams, but they could be good towards the playoffs.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) when you guys were saying screwed by the ump I was thinking it was the ball that looked in the strike zone according to MLB GameDay. I have to see this replay of the homer somehow. It was the most embarrassing call I've ever seen, regardless of how they reviewed it. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) This is why you need replay in baseball. Some umpires are blind. Do the Tigers provide booze in the Umpire's locker room or something? That's two awful calls at that park this year.. Luckily this one was reviewable.
-
nah.... no need for replay in baseball..

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 11:44 AM) This lineup today is disgusting. The ENTIRE TEAM just had two days off in a row! But then they played 2 in one day...? /Devil's Advocate

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 11:43 AM) Melton is a total moron. All he says is "The Minnesota Twins...". Like a freaking robot. He's asked about the Red Sox "Minnesota Twins..", He's asked about the 6-0 road trip "Minnesota Twins.." the dude is lost. "Apparently Paul Konerko has been playing pretty much everyday." Apparently? Really?! Who knew!??
