  1. 9 runs in 3.75 games, against the worst team in the majors. Bravo
  2. Well, thats embarassing. Good job, gents, one run on the worst team in baseball.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) He has good stuff, but our hitters were definitely overwhelmed. Well, lefties were absolutely crushing Bergesen coming into this game, and we...well didn't.
  4. This offensive effort against this pitcher...was disheartening to say the least.
  5. Sale then Pena...fun 8th inning will ensue. But, I guess we have no choice other than Pena.
  6. Hmm...this is the ideal time to break Chris Sale in? mmk.
  7. How embarassing...a 1-1 battle with the worst team in baseball.
  8. Well, at least we didn't use any important bullpen guys today.
  9. QUOTE (TheOcho @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 07:52 PM) I may have missed it, and excuse my stupidity... but why did Carlos start this game and not Edwin who has had more then needed days of rest if I'm not mistaken. Coop has the starts scheduled out for the rest of the season, and Ozzie didn't want to alter from the plan.
  10. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 07:48 PM) coming into today I would have been very happy with a DH split....especially if the twins lose With Detroit's home record, I would agree. But this isn't the way I wanted to split. I'd prefer us to at least be competitive, and not run out a worn-tread 88mph throwing pitcher to put us in a crater sized hole from the start.
  11. What a freakin' waste...only we'd find a way to breathe life into a s***tyass slumping team.
  12. Well Torres is fantastic... Hope TB can keep out Twinkie friends in check, because the pitching for us tonight is brutal.
  13. The ONLY place you're going to get a legit FICO score is from www.myfico.com And even there, it will cost you somewhere between $10-15 for each one, and you can not get your Experian score even then. They (Experian) stopped allowing 'public' access to scores via most outlets. I've monitored my score/reports etc forever, and the only place you're going to get a legit FICO, without some monthly monitoring service, etc., is from myfico.com
  14. We were overdue for one of these type games, just didn't expect it to be while Danks was on the mound, giving up the biggest part. Oh well, strangely, even though the Twins are breathing down our necks, I'm not concerned with this one tonight.
  15. Since I'm too lazy to go figure it out, my bigger question is this: How in gods name did Edwin Jackson scale up to a 8.5mil payday in 2011 after seeing what he has done career-wise??
  16. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) Podsednik has his own guy? It certainly isn't me!
  17. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:44 PM) Christ, he doesn't have to be the next big thing. Just a mid 4 ERA/FIP starter that will make a total of $1.5M over the next 3 years combined, there's incredible value in that. Yeah....the more I let it sit and stew, the more that I'm kinda puzzled by the trade afterall....salary reasons alone, this makes very little sense for a glorified 4th/5th starter. And lets be honest, thats all Jackson is, at best. In 2011, we'd have: Peavy $16m Buehrle $14m Floyd $5m Danks ~$5m Jackson $8.5m Thats...well thats pretty f***ing stupid to wrap that much up in a back of the rotation guy. So I guess yeah, we do need to hope we're flipping Jackson for a bat, and can still find a serviceable 5th starter....
  18. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:33 PM) I like this Jackson trade. He's got great stuff and he's 26. He's not as bad as his ERA indicates. 4.27 FIP, .318 BABIP. His fly ball rate is only 30%. People overrated Hudson on this board, he was a no. 3 starter-at best. No way! No one on SoxTalk overrates our prospects. Hudson was going to easily be the next big thing, obviously. But yes, I DO think we overpaid, but not the blasphemous amount most here do.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:30 PM) you missed something http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7412 OK, Chris Young isn't a pitcher that was in our system, drafted by us! (I'll be waiting on the link from someone we drafted in the 27th round in 1982 or something)
  20. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:24 PM) It's a good thing I'm sitting down. If this happens, the Sox may have gave up Hudson and that other guy for Dunn? Thats the thing that gets me....people are fuming about losing Hudson for Jackson, who we'd control for another year+, but are all quite ok to give him up for Dunn, a 3 month strikeout machine rental...
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) Chris Young? Unless I missed something, Chris Young isn't a pitcher! Guess I should have made that part a bit more clear. I'm just saying, we (SoxTalk armchair GMs) get so attached to prospects that may never see the light of day, that we over-value them to the point of comedy.
  22. Its funny, the only 2 prospect names I ever see mentioned are Richard and Gio. What about the other mass of names that have been declared the next big thing, only to be traded to someone else and disappear forever?
