Capn12

The season starts, its time for me to critique how bad the team messes up everytime!! GL ChiSox circa 2008

3-1 Texas in the bottom of the 3rd

Haegar kinda not having a great 2nd inning here.

QUOTE(iamshack @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 04:14 PM) Actually, that brewpub is gone. Now it's just a regular grill...booooo...but I do like the Monte Carlo...stayed there my first trip back in 98'... Are you serious? Granted, its been since July 05 since i've been to Vegas, but the Monte Carlo Brew Pub was the ONLY reason I went into that place....its a sad day then, that was always the place I went my first day in Vegas, 11 trips worth...

Actually, at 40", you have to be sitting more than 6 feet away to notice any difference between 720p and 1080p. There is a pretty decent chart here that gives a viewing distance vs. Screen Size comparison. For the money, and the quality, very few TVs touch the Samsung LN-T4665. 46" 1080p/24 Hz. It is down to about $1500 now, which is an absolute steal for a TV this great. They have their 120 Hz version out now, LN-T4671, but it is still way too expensive for the average consumer.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 18, 2007 -> 05:36 PM) I succumbed and got Guitar Hero 3. Seeing Prayer of the Refugee as one of the bonus tracks pushed me over the edge. Has anyone been playing Rock Band? I've put GH3 aside for Rock Band the last few weeks. I actually suck bigtime at the drums, but picked up the mic, and having tons of fun with it. Up in the top 700 overall for vocals. As for "Prayer of the Refugee" in GH3, I still play that one lots when on GH3.

Frank is the main reason I went from being a casual baseball fan, to an avid ChiSox fan. I watched him in the SEC down here in my part of the country, and thought "Good lord this guy is a monster. He is going to crush the ball in the bigs." Here we are 18 or so years later, and the man has done everything the right way in the game, and deserves to not even have to sweat a first time ballot entry into the HOF. Cheers to you, Mr. Frank Thomas

And the coaching brotherhoods biggest Snake Oil salesman slithers his way into the SEC. Sorry, I have no respect for Bobby Petrino. I think Pat Forde's article says it the best

Bullet, we have dodged thee!

I'm in the minority I'm sure, but the best game I've played in a LONG time on 360 is Assassins Creed. I love this game, and am enjoying it immensely. Now, keep in mind that I have CoD4 still sitting on my TV unopened, and will get to it eventually, but right now, its all about Assassin's Creed.

I'll take no Jones OR Hunter OR AaRow thanks. I don't understand the infatuation with a lazy, nonchalant Andruw Jones who K's a TON, and has s***e OBP.....Don't we have enough of those guys already do fill you alls quotas?

36 million over two years for Jones? Uh, no thanks. I've seen him plenty over the years in my area, and if the nonchalant attitude of Uribe bothers you Sox fans, then Andruw Jones would have driven you to insanity. He is a strikeout machine(something we have enough of), and to trick the Dodgers into paying him 36 million after that AWESOME 2007 season....wow.

Its not $18 mil per, just looks that way on the surface. '08: $9 million '09: $15 million $12 milion signing bonus.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 07:07 PM) They mortgaged alot of their future to make a run in the next two years, and its a good move. I still think Cabrera hits free agency. Oh I'm already resigned to the fact that MigCab is going the FA route after 09. No chance in hell he decides to stay in Detroit.

Tigers #1,3,7,11 Prospects it took for that deal.....and 5 pitchers? or was it 4, either way, ouch.

I think the number of disillusioned ChiSox fans grows exponentially daily..... What exactly is the answer to this teams woes right now? Prae tell!! We have more than one hole that could be filled by Cabrera, thats for damn sure. Trading away the little bit of 'talent' in our system we have left, including Danks, for 2 years of Miggy isn't exactly the answer to lifes problems.

QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:29 PM) I would take signing Jones over trading some ridiculous package for Cabrera, but if it was for the package mentioned...well, that would have been fine by me... Hmm, I'm starting to think that 2 years of Andruw > outlandish package of prospects that we are already thin on for Cabrera. Don't get me wrong, I want Miggy, but I want a farm system too.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:21 PM) It could well be great for them winning another title. But it's certainly no guarantee like so many people here seem to think it is. Why is it that if the White Sox acquired D-Train for 1/2 of its farm system, we'd have people whining about how KW acquired a pitcher near FA who put up a >5 ERA last year in the weak NL, but this Tigers team is going to dominate with him!!! Congratulations Balta!! You have just achieved your SoxTalk.com degree!! Another graduate that sees the delusional masses on here.

GREAT move by KW....I keep waiting to hear we had to throw something else in, hopefully it won't happen. Buying a guy at his lowest cost, way to go KW!

Let the "soandso coach is off to LSU for sure!!!" rumors begin.... I don't see Miles as such a 'great' grab myself. LSU had amazing talent this year, and never looked like a dominating team as the year went on. But hey, I guess Michigan is happy with Miles. Tenuta, OTOH, is a great grab.

QUOTE(farmteam @ Nov 29, 2007 -> 10:54 PM) Agreed. Echoes, Silence, Patience, Grace was decent, but I think their earlier stuff was better. Its one that you definately have to listen to multiple times before you really feel its vibe, but personally I REALLY like it. "Let It Die" was a personal favorite right away, I love the change in tone as the song progresses. You also have to remember, or if you didn't know, E,S,P & G was written all in 1 week, the week following Dave Grohl's divorce. You can definately sense that in the lyrics when you listen to it a few times through.

QUOTE(joeynach @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 03:30 AM) Since when do the sox overPAY this type of money to get someone, period. I know we have seen some bloated relievers contracts like Baez, Walker, Spier, etc....but wtf are we giving this guy anything over 2 years 5 MIL for????b You DO remember the Masset/Aardsma/Sisco/MacDougal bullpen experiment of 2007 right? That 'pen that couldn't do anything right.....KW is as irritated with that failure as any of us are, except that he has the ability to try and fix it. Linebrink has been one of those guys he has salivated over, and yeah we probably overpaid a bit to get him, but alas, we have no proper in house solutions for '08.

Gavin is definately not hurting for himself, I'm sure. Plus it helps to make your money in the UK right now, with the exchange rate and all... I think its: 1 million US dollars = 47 pence UK or something close to that.

Oh sweet, sweet day of redemption!

Its a crap return for Garland, plain and simple. No one is going to argue that. But I'm pretty sure we all hope to god its the precursor for a real move that was needed to clear money....
