Second Half Predictions
Vasquez sounds alot like Jeremy Bonderman (always has had good stats, but would often struggle with men on base leading to outings that would look something liek: 5 ip 4 hits 4 ers 7 ks or of course the occasional 1 ip 7 hits 7 er 2 ks) It seems Bonderman has figured things out this year, and isn't cracking under the pressure, if Vasquez can do the same thing he should be really good, maybe he needs to look back on his dominant season in Montreal and figure out what he was doing/thinking differently then.

And That's A White Sox Loss
I would expect Buehrle Contreras and Garland to be good, Garcia looks like his arm might be fried. Vazquez really hasn't been good for several years and has always been very overrated. Still that gives you 3 very nice starters and 2 average ones, which is better than most in the league.

Minnesota Hurtin'
Hunter has a broken bone in his foot it sounds like he will be out for awhile.

Well, you knew it was going to happen sometime, especially with this lineup. Even the regular players were sloppy today comitting 3 errors (well 2, one that was ruled a throwing error was actually obvious runners interference as the base runner deflected it with his hand to break up a double play) Obviously a much bigger series coming up next.

Well, of course I'd like to go 13-0 against the Chisox the rest of the way, but that's not very likely. 7-6 is my goal, although I'm hopeful for better.

Yeah, I meant over the rest of the season. Tigers up 4-0 on the Royals, Verlander is mowing them down just like his last start against them when he threw a complete game shutout.

I think any Tiger fan would just be happy to make the playoffs for once, regardless of how many games we win. I would guess the players feel the same way, we've had a couple of 4 game losing streaks and tough strethces and bounced back, hopefully that continues. I'll admit we need to start beating you guys occasionally But it is a tough matchup for us since we rely so much on pitching and you guys have a very dangerous lineup. If we are able to go .500 against Chicago the rest of the year I'm sure we'd be happy.

Hawk and DJ
DJ is ok, and I don't mind Hawk being a massive homer too much (after all he's supposed to be!) I just find his apparent distate for other teams and complete silence when they do good things annoying. The YES network guys seem pretty good, although I agree that the See Ya homerun call sucks. Edit; Chris Berman should stick to football.

A.J's Fine reduced to $250, BUT...
I don't know how he'll manage to pay that $250 fine, he'll probably end up in the poorhouse If they really fined him for crap that's within the rules of the game it's ridiculous...but it's still only $250, that's like if someone fined me a penny.

Well it was certainly a rough game, but when you're 10-0 against a team on the season their are sure to be some scares. Zumaya didn't have his control tonight and walked a couple of guys before giving up a hit to one of the Royals only good hitters, I wouldn't call that cooling down too much. Rodney sucked for awhile, but that was also a mechanical/control problem. Walker, Ledezma, Rodney, Zumaya and heck even Colon, Grilli and Jones is a solid bullpen. (Ok, maybe not Jones)

.253 .285 .456 .741 .261 .342 .351 .693 Monroe v Podsednik Podsednik certainly gets on base alot more, but I would still stand by my comparison that Monroe is pretty similar, except instead of a good obp and crappy power he has a crappy obp and good power. As you can see Podsednik's OPS isn't higher, but I'll agree he's a more valuable player since at least he brings steals to the table on top of his obp.

Page 2 article on Jenks
I'll admit the article is stupid and poorly written, but it appears to me that the guy is saying Jenks in fact, is not a racist or anything else horrible.

But the Sox don't hit homers, you're a smallball club, that's why it's amazing.

To answer the earlier question: Guillen has batted 5th all season, to protect Ordonez mostly I guess. Shelton is batting 8th, because despite all the "Shelton is playing way over his head..." crap from the big media, the fact is he totally sucked in May and June. He seems to have heated back up to his more normal self from late june into july, and I would definitely move him to 7th ahead of Craig Monroe who is definitley our worst regular player. (Think Podsednik except with power instead of speed)

Check out this headline from the Detroit Free Press
God forbid a newspaper make a joke (albeit a stupid one).

You're right, the minute the Sox go even .5 games over Detroit I will dissapear and stop posting, then when we return with a .5 game lead I will return with a vengance. That's pretty much been my plan all along. :s

As I expected we couldn't hit Gil Meche Still, I never would have imagined we'd have 59 wins by the all star break.
-
Tiger Watch - Official Thread
Well, Gil Meche actually has better numbers on the year, I wouldn't be suprised if he gives us trouble.

Betancourt went into a home run trot and was pointing into the dugout....unfortunately for him it was a routine fly ball. Edit: Also, lol at some of the Sox fans, you guys are a great team, relax and enjoy it. All the same, I think you've been hot almost all season and you still don't have the best record in your division, I'm not saying that you won't sometime soon, but it's pretty silly to say you're the best team by far.

Bautista was hitting pretty well when we played them, I think he has strong numbers on the season. Pierre and Counsell are both pretty useless though.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 08:10 AM) ... and the Tigers fans come out of hiding. Hiding? I was gone for the 4th of July, in case you didn't notice we won the last game against the A's as welll, if I was hiding I would have stopped then

Bonderman with another great outing, probably shouldn't have went out for the 9th, but 8 and 2/3 1 er still isn't bad.

Those Obnoxious Boston Fans
Chicago fans and Boston fans are pretty similar imo. But that may only be because our teams are rivals so you guys act a bit wilder when we're playing

Magglio Ordonez named All Star replacement
Dye should start, and with Ozzie managing I assume he will, it's nice since he is (in my opinion) the most deserving White Sox player, and one of the most deserving of any team in either league.
