  1. To answer a question from earlier in the thread: The Twins are starting: Lirano - Radke - Santana against Detroit.
  2. Dusty Baker pulled a guy because of pitch count? That can't be right...
  3. Looks like the Indians will win this one, Craig Monroe decides that playing defense isn't his style leading to an inside the park homer.
  4. 8-7 now, Brandon Inge is the hottest hitter in MLB right now.
  5. Soriano is having a career year after being fairly average (or bad if you factor in his defense) the last couple of years. I would probably rather have the two first round picks than re-sign him longterm if the Tigers were to acquire him, and I think that's probably what you guys would go for as well.
  6. I would be greatly suprised if either the Tigers or White Sox get Soriano, we aren't willing to trade Maybin and you guys aren't willing to trade McCarthy (rightfully so). It doesn't look like Washington will accept less than that.
  7. The Cubs rushed a player back from injury leading to him getting hurt again? Unbelievable.
  8. Well, this was one of the most boring games I've ever seen, I swear every Indians pitcher took about 5 minutes for each pitch.
  9. The Sox get just as much positive coverage as the Tigers. Up until a week ago nearly everyone on ESPN predicted Chicago would win the world series, and talked about how great your pitching was... As for fluff pieces, how about that commercial for the ESPYs? "and everyone got behind us...." Of course, both of our teams coverage pales in comparison to what the Bostons and New Yorks of the world get, but that's to be expected.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 05:45 PM) Manny. This one was a team effort, Crisp and various cutoff men also blew it.
  11. Well don't get me wrong, I'm sure facing a bunch of great pitchers we'll lose on occasion, merely I don't think we're going to lose everytime we face them
  12. 6-0 after one, hopefully we don't blow this one And we've faced plenty of good pitchers already, Santana twice, Contreras three times, Zito, Kazmir, Schilling, Sabathia (twice I think)... I'm not concerned about that.
  13. I would assume in that situation the runner was just taking second on defensive indifference (which he did on the next pitch) and it wasn't meant to necessarily be a hit and run.
  14. He's a solid pitcher who needs to stop giving up so many homers. Definitely overrated though.
  15. Miner is a rookie with control problems, I would guess even the biggest Tiger fan knows he's going to get bombed on occasion. Really, Bonderman is the only starter I am 100% confident in, Verlander I expect dominance, but once again he's a rookie so I know sometimes he's going to struggle. I don't think Robertson or Rogers are going to completely implode like some people think, but I also don't know what to expect when they pitch. All the same, two of our three starters just shut down the Sox, and dominated the A's in the first game as well, so that's three of our last four starts that have been very good.
  16. Silva has given up 150 hits in 100 innings. That's not good.
  17. Two notes: 1. This makes the Reds trade look even crappier 2. The AL Central no longer has a monopoly on fat closers
  18. It's not as if Sox players (or players for any team for that matter) only stare at their homers and show up the pitcher if they "deserve it". It's part of the game and most players do it, big deal.
  19. I wouldn't worry about Thome, the Tigers threw ALOT of left handers at him, most teams can't/won't be doing that.
  20. Probably already posted by someone, but it has been reported that the Padres turned down Austin Kearns for Linebrink straight up. I doubt they'd deal him for a minor leaguer or two.
  21. As someone who got to see White last year with the Tigers, I can tell you seeing him in the outfield is a nightmare. He's not really *bad* defensively, just his shoulder is so destroyed he has basically no arm, and he'll likely suffer a season ending injury the first time he dives for a ball.
  22. Rogers v Contreras is no contest? Uhh, Rogers and Contreras have been equally horrible the last month, if anything that's the crappiest pitching match up of the series. I find it funny that every White Sox fan thinks the Tigers are playing 100% and can't possibly do better, but even though almost everyone in your lineup is having a career year the Sox haven't "clicked yet" or "aren't playing their best ball" Both teams have been playing great, and their is no need to make excuses at this point.
  23. The pitching wasn't great, but it wasn't that bad either. Yesterday Ledezma got bombed in relief, but considering he had 3 and 1/3 innings in the last month it wasn't too suprising. The only one who worries me is Rogers, as he seems to be leaving the ball up in the zone and giving up alot of homers lately. Anyways, here's to a great series
