  1. QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 01:27 PM) Nah, the string I referenced was before he threw a pitch. I specifically remember. Most of the outrage was hindsight but that was not. I just looked it up, there was one that said "I'm not sure I am a fan of Rodon coming in with runners on base". That's not exactly adamant, more like taking both sides. Other than that, everyone was a bit pumped up.
  2. QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 01:23 PM) Not true, I remember because I responded to a complaint. I believe the complaints came after his first pitch or 2.
  3. Rodon was set up to succeed. He was sent in to face a LH .150 hitter who is 1-9 with 6 strikeouts vs. LHP. It would be pretty hard to find a more favorable match up. If you look at some of the posts of the people who love to rip Robin after the fact and are ripping this move, you will realize if he stayed with Noesi and Noesi didn't get the out, they would be ripping him for not going with Rodon. There were ZERO complaints about going to Rodon in the gamethread until after the fact.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 12:08 PM) According to Jon Rothstein and CBS Sports, Kevin Ollie is removing his name from consideration for the OKC job. YES! OKC has Thibs written all over it.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 10:51 AM) Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 6m6 minutes ago The catch with Joe Nathan: Tommy John revisions, especially with flexor-tendon tears, require a much longer rehab time. Closer to 18 months. So he's looking at a potential comeback at 42 years old after surgery. I could see someone giving him a minor league contract, but he's got to be done. He had a great career.
  6. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 10:28 AM) How did I miss Geddy Lee attending multiple Sox games this year. The real Geddy actually did attend a Sox game in 2013. He was sitting behind the Sox dugout in the front row. Steve Stone mentioned him. He's a baseball nut.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 10:16 AM) Kris Bryant back in center field today. Anybody in the know think he can handle that full time or is just because of the injury crunch? Last night was the first time he played CF as a professional. I could only imagine if Kris Bryant was a White Sox and they had him play CF. I guess Joe Maddon must be a big dope.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 09:53 AM) For a guy who hates to be addressed personally, you sure seem to love chasing after Caulfield. You don't think he loves the Royals?
  9. I've been to a couple games this season. When the crowd isn't going to be at least 25k, I don't think they even check for upper deck seats if you want to go to the lower level.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 09:19 AM) Another way to look at it is 21-41 against KC without Sale starting or relieving sometime during the game. I think you love the Royals more than J4L loves any NBA team in the Western Conference.
  11. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 09:08 AM) The problem with our upper deck, at least initially when there were the extra nine rows at the top, was that the entrance was at the base of the deck, not somewhere in the middle. If you had seats towards the top of the deck, the combination of having to start at the bottom and walk all of those steps up at the rather steep incline of this particular deck was not ideal. It certainly wasn't good in any manner for anyone elderly or over weight. It just wasn't. So with that quickly came the oft-heard maligning of the upper deck, leading to a negative stigma that still has residual effect to this very day. I think the biggest problem with the White Sox upper deck, and the entrance you mentioned would have been better, but the complaining would have still occurred, is the fans were used to the upper deck at the old park, which was probably club level high at most. That started the snowball rolling, and it has never stopped, and I don't think ever will. The fact is many if not most upper deck seats pretty much suck in most parks in baseball. There are seats just as bad as the bad seats at USCF in each park.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 10:24 PM) And perhaps they can figure out a way, while they're at it, to keep Jose Quintana from being in the bottom 10 in MLB WHIP. Yeah, that's on Robin. Can't blame Coop. He's only the pitching coach, and the self proclaimed, "manager of the pitchers".
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 08:39 AM) That was you (and Hawk) when Gordon Beckham made a play only eclipsed by Juan Uribe and Derek Jeter in yesterday's ballgame. Maybe, just maybe...Manny Machado, Scott Rolen and Brooks Robinson, Michael Jack Schmidt. Take your pills. Pills are good.
  14. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 07:32 AM) I love how the people who wax nostalgic about Old Comiskey are often the same people who whine about the new park's location. The park isn't ideally located. Most people drive and traffic patterns cause troubles. If they played in the South Loop, many more people would have use of Metra, etc. I have no problem with the park. I think it's really nice. For the field of play, yeah it would be cool if it wasn't so symmetrical. A weird little nuance here and there would be great. But for watching a game, sightlines, I've been to a lot of stadiums, I don't see where this one is beat. People moan about the upper deck. Go sit in the upper deck at all of these stadiums recently built. They are no better.
  15. I was watching Kaplan's show the day Russell was called up, and Kap was going on and on, saying the Cubs never thought they would be in this position so soon. One of the other panelists, I think Lazerus, said "what, 7-5?"
  16. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 07:37 AM) Well we better score in the first six innings, because the last three will be very hard. Royals pen has given up three runs ALL YEAR. 0.58 ERA for relievers. And they have 6 guys hitting over .300. It won't last, and tonight the slide shall begin. Caulfield will be in tears.
  17. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 05:42 PM) Bad teams + bad stadium location + bad upper deck= bad attendance. No doubt the upper deck took huge bite out of today's attendance.
  18. I wonder if today was a day game because of Earth Day.
  19. It will be nice when it is baseball weather again, but this is a nice win over the reigning Cy Young, and wins the series. Great job by the pitchers with the shutout. 6 runs seem like 20.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 04:03 PM) Cle and Detroit this weekend is going to be huge for the Indians...possibly an elimination series. Great, whats the one thing u dont do in that situation? Walk someone. Cleto could do that. Beckham and Ramirez brought their gloves today, thats for sure. Elimination series. LMAO. How far back was Cleveland to the 2005 World Champions before they cut it to 1.5? And now you are saying a series where when it is over they have 145 games left is possibly an elimination series?
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 04:05 PM) Putnam warming? Kind of like a no confidence vote there from Ventura and Cooper. And if no one is warming up and a couple of other get on, you start another dumb Robin thread.
  22. I wonder what kind of odds you could have received for 6 runs off Kluber today.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 03:26 PM) It's frustrating that more people on here aren't excited about his contributions so far. It's pretty sad some hate him so much, not because he's an ass, or a cheater, or gives no effort, and then when he does well and helps the team win, won't even acknowledge it.
  24. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 03:18 PM) god damn it, i want beckham to be a stud. why didnt it happen? Everyone was so hyped up when we got him. and those first 2 months... double, double, double, double, double, double. It's obviously really early, but he has been one of the best players on the team. Maybe he has found his niche. Although if this continues, he is going to have to get on the field more.
  25. Jennings has gone from "Will he make the team?" to a huge part of the bullpen. All for rubbish. Hahn should go to jail for that trade.
