QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 02:48 PM) Hopefully Robin does away with the bunting. He bunts less than any manager in baseball. Only 2 teams the last 10 years bunted less than the 2013 White Sox.

I like Ventura going out there to talk about the call while someone has a look at it for a possible challenge.

Eaton hit the cutoff man and good things happened.

Why does just about every team have a batboy bigger than anyone on their team?

Eaton is hunting rattlesnakes with that throw. Held on to it a bit too long.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 02:02 PM) I've already seen Paul swing at 2 first pitches this year, different role, different approach. He also swung at the first pitch back in October 2005. No one complained, if it is a good pitch to hit, swinging at it os fine

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 01:28 PM) Royals' scouting report on Nieto: MLB average at blocking pitches and throwing...scary to think about the hitting part. Couldn't we have just brought back Corky Miller, lol? Danks 6-0 lifetime against KC and 4-0 at Kauffman, something has to give. Nieto has always been thought of as an offense first catcher.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 05:56 PM) Aaaaaaaand a horrendous swing on a pitch thrown 58 feet..... Viciedo wouldn't have swung at that pitch.

A broken bat bloop to CF would bring home a pair.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 05:51 PM) There's our break. Why aren't we pinch hitting PK here? They would have gone with the righthander. Might as well leave Dunn in since he is a little looser. At least it was a productive out. As much as a lot of people want to hate him, Dunn has been fine so far.

Official 2013-2014 College Hoops Thread
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 10:32 AM) Again, just to point it out, you can be a known cheater with a f***ING MULTI-YEAR BAN FROM THE SPORT and still get a job. But if you lie about getting a piece of paper 15 years ago, a piece of paper that has little to do with your qualifications for the job, you can't. College athletics everyone. Not only that but what is the difference between not having a degree and having one from Kentucky?

Attendance
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 01:26 PM) That is the thing. I pay $40 a ticket I spend less in the park as I am pissed I spent $40 on a ticket. I get a free ticket, I spent $60 in the park because....I got a free ticket. I have always had that theory that the White Sox would prefer corporate accounts than indivduals. For one thing you spread it around. It isn't the same 2 or 3 people going to every game who might get sick of ordering $8 beers and eating the same old things. You get some guy who takes his wife and 2 kids with his company's tickets and parking pass, he's already ahead and IMO is more apt to spend wildly at the park.

Attendance
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 08:38 AM) If you do this, and it brings in 10,000 fans to the upper deck, you make $100,000. Now, if you charge $22.50, and that brings in 4,500 fans, you make $101,250. If you average that over the course of a season, you bring in $101,250 more than with the $10 tickets, which means, in the upper deck alone, you make a games worth of revenue more over the course of a full season. Now figure that when school's out and the weather is nicer and the weekends come, the Sox will draw more than that anyways, and the figure I used - $22.50 - is a pretty low figure anyways. Price point maximization is really a pretty simple process and is something you learn in ECON101, and major league baseball teams are going to employ very good economists because messing that up can lose you a lot of money. Yes, but you lose parking, concession, and souvenier sales with 4500 vs. 10000. The problem is, the Sox could give away free upper deck tickets to the past couple of games and be nowhere near capacity in the upper deck. The upper deck at USCF has a stigma attached to it that will not go away. Even though there are many seats far better to watch a game in than many on the lower level, it really doesn't matter. Before they got good again, the Blackhawks used to give away free tickets on Ticketmaster from time to time usually near the end of the season. There still was about 8k at the game.

The bullpen has been bad 2 games, and the Sox won one of them. No reason to fret yet.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 03:26 PM) Stats show he could throw people out, but they also ran on him because he did not have a "great arm." It still wouldnt be my example of a guy with no range with an arm. But back to the game. You would be wrong. His arm strength was above average with crazy accuracy. People would run on him like they run on Tank, because he would be fumbling the ball or taking forever getting to it, and got burned a lot.

Maybe there was a good reason Nieto didn't start today.
