So, in retrospect, if we had actually kept Sergio Santos and Jake Peavy, we would be on the cusp of contention in the AL Central this season.

They do. One of the starters is on the way out (injury or ineffectiveness) and the Sox have confidence that someone in the minors who had some MLB experience last year will step up. Rienzo is the first call. The second call will be Surkamp.

The problem is neither are much better than Paulino. Maybe Rienzo can at least stay in the game long enough not to tax the beleaguered bullpen.

This is what I mean. He doesn't need to be the ace. Just a guy to eat up some innings and get pulled in the 4th.

See post below. He got 29 innings of experience. Now he is ready to progress at the MLB level. It's still better than the performance of Paulino or someone without MLB experience. They aren't asking him to be an ace only to eat innings and go more than 4 innings.

The second lefty should be the long man. There's no room for Paulino, as bad as our bullpen is. I'm not giving any of the righties spots to him

Right. The White Sox don't pay any attention to their budget at all. It has be something completely simple. Only lord Theo would sign pitchers to short deals in order to try to build value for them while holding back his own pitchers to save dollars in the future. What was I thinking.

Sure everyone is scared of Rienzo axelrodding himself, but I think he's enough of a middling prospect where you dont mind throwing him out there and risking some development for some unexpected success

They paid Paulino what they would pay for three rookie contracts in a bid to build some trade value, and to keep their kids off of the big club for as long as possible. You know, the stuff that gets Lord Theo's knob slobbered on by the same people who think that Sox management is crazy.

Sounds like Rienzo to Chicago, Tommy Hanson to Charlotte, and Paulino to DL, maybe?

Clearly w/ Tommy Hanson moving from extended spring training to Triple-A #WhiteSox feel he's healthy & ready. Wouldn't make move otherwise.
