  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 2, 2013 -> 01:07 PM) Here's a version from 2006, here's a done-slightly-different version for 2012. (And of course, Gavin is pitching in a park with some heavy ballpark effects as well). His ERA is actually lower during his career at home vs. on the road. Looking at the figures in 2012 Dylan Axelrod qualified as an average fifth starter.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 2, 2013 -> 12:38 PM) My problem is it looks like the ball is barely moving, you can clearly see the stitches on the ball. If she is taking a selfie and a homerun is hit over the green monster next to her head, you would think the ball would look like a blur There was footage a few years ago when someone on the Cubs hit a walkoff homer. It hit a guy in the Wrigley bleachers right on top of the head. He was too busy talking to his friend to have any clue what was going on in the game.
  3. QUOTE (Cali @ May 2, 2013 -> 12:57 PM) I'm glad we'll see of Hector can hack it in the rotation going forward. The pitches really start piling up when he's on the mound. That's one thing he will have to straighten out in his new role or he'll be back in the bullpen in short order.
  4. We will miss Floyd in June and July. The other months......not so much April ERA 5.28 May ERA 5.42 June ERA 3.58 July ERA 3.38 August ERA 4.79 Sept. ERA 4.23
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2013 -> 10:49 AM) I was always under the impression that insurance only kicked in if the player missed the whole season. However, over the last year or so, it seems like that isn't accurate. I still think insurance is the secret reason DRose isn't playing.
  6. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 2, 2013 -> 09:06 AM) Yes I know this. I was working in the league when AJ was around and still have friends who work in baseball. I've never seen quotes from any player that were much better than neutral. It's usually like Reed said "i get along with him fine or I enjoyed throwing to him." I've never seen any say "what a great guy I really enjoy spending time with him." Jon Garland was quoted during the 2005 season as saying "he's a jerk but he's our jerk" paraphrasing of course. Wasn't he voted as the most disliked player in baseball in some poll recently? Yes, but then there are quotes about guys who were concerned about playing with him saying he wasn't was his reputation made him out to be. I also read where he really mellowed when he became a father. Everything I read is that he eventually will get under your skin because he's pretty much non stop talking, trying to poke the lion. AJ loves pro wrestling, and has taken his role as the MLB villian and ran with it.
  7. The Rangers broadcast apparently was laughing about AJ sticking his elbow out to get hit. Then the drama, which we all know AJ seeks and works off of, began. Drilling AJ to show him how much he was disliked is a great story, but it's really about as real as reality TV.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2013 -> 08:21 AM) And it just happened to be AJ, a day later, in the ninth inning of a game he wasn't even supposed to be playing in? lol. OK. Yes. 2 outs in the 9th inning with a 3 run lead. If AJ was the hated bad teammate people WANT him to be, the White Sox wouldn't have kept him around for 8 years, and signed him to 2 or 3 or 4 contracts. And again, AJ went out of his way to get hit.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2013 -> 08:15 AM) Listen to what people are saying. His buddy Hawk couldn't even defend it. That right there is enough for me. Though I am sure he will go on the air tonight and have his speech prepared. Hawk said AJ was drilled because Dunn was drilled yesterday. Did you not see AJ stick his elbow out to get hit? He could have easily avoided it, but the Rangers needed baserunners and it adds to the drama surrounding AJ. I really don't think White Sox players hate AJ as much as some think. I'm sure some do, but not nearly the entire team.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2013 -> 06:41 AM) You have zero idea here. This is something you have to be in the clubhouse to be qualified to comment on. Yet you are commenting that he was definitely hit on purpose and said he wasn't re-signed because everyone hates him. How many times did he re-sign with the White Sox? I don't know if he was trying to hit him on purpose or not. I do know AJ stuck his pad right into the pitch. Everybody wins. This notion that no one can stand AJ is legendary. However, you would think a beat writer or someone, considering EVERYONE HATES AJ would come up with a laundry list of the hatred.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ May 2, 2013 -> 03:55 AM) Reed didn't throw at AJ. It was up and in a tad but AJ stuck his elbow pad out and took it to get on base. Moving on. Yes. AJ definitely stuck his elbow out and then played it like the WWE star he would love to be.
  12. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 1, 2013 -> 09:25 AM) @PWSullivan Ricketts first threat: Will consider moving out of Wrigley if he doesn't get his signage Did they laugh at him after he said it? I do believe he should be able to do what he wants re the video board, advertising signs etc. , however, I would love for them to call his bluff.
  13. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 1, 2013 -> 07:27 AM) How did he look in his one AB Tues nite? Like one of the guys. He struck out.
  14. Dunn has more homers this April than last.
  15. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 05:35 PM) OMG he said a swear word. Big f***ing deal. He did not call him anything. Price was the aggressor, showing him up, then yelling at him as he walked off. Umpires are allowed to respond back, and it doesn't have to be something rated PG. Players have sworn, managers have sworn, umpires have sworn. We've all watched enough baseball to see that. MLB is investigating. The fact that they are investigating tells anyone paying attention, if what Price said is true, Hallion crossed a line.
  16. The one big problem with Casper is the Sox need him to do something pretty quickly and he's been collecting dust during his various DFA's the past month. He's got to be a little rusty.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 06:58 AM) Wow, how often does the that people ask for, actually happen? It happened with Mackowiak and Alex Cintron. Let's face it, this guy may be around a couple of weeks at most, but they need a RH bat and there is slim pickings in Charlotte.
  18. If Broussard wants to call people out for living in sin, can't he call out about 95% of the NBA? I don't understand why someone has to hide or be ashamed of being gay. It is what they are. Some guys like big boobs, some guys like blondes, some guys like guys. Collins isn't a very significant player, and Broussard would never really have to talk to him. If it were a really big name, he would have said nothing today.
  19. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Apr 16, 2013 -> 01:55 PM) I still think the Cubs will be bunking with the sox. It may even be as early as 2014. Why else would the red line project get fast tracked? The Red Line project is supposed to run from May through October. By opening day 2014, many of the same slow zones will be back.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 29, 2013 -> 07:57 AM) Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 9h One preseason worry with CWS was they were too right-handed offensively. But with Viciedo's injury, they became overly left-handed ... in the OF off the bench. So the replacement for Tekotte might be a right-handed bat instead of an eighth reliever The White Sox 40-man roster is at 40 so if the move came from outside there would have to be another corresponding move to make room Casper Wells is available again. Edit. He is a Brooklyn Nets fan. If he was good, it could be ignored, but he's not that good.
  21. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 29, 2013 -> 01:14 AM) Since 1993 an I'm choosing that since its the most amount of playoff appearances in a 20 year gap (A whopping grand total of FOUR WHOLE TIMES! --- Christ this franchise is pretty terrible when you really think about it haha) They have never made the playoffs with a losing record in April. Never. History just not on their side. Not saying a winning April guarantees playoffs (last year for example) but historically it helps a whole hell of a lot. Might want to check your "facts".
  22. I don't know why the Sox would ever release Floyd. He's awful in April. When has that been news? He will be awful in May. He then usually puts 2 months together of HOF performance before he turns awful again. Personally, I would have traded him back when people here were comparing him to Halladay, but the good news is, if the Sox have to bail, he should be really hot at the trade deadline when the clock is just about at midnight and he is a pumpkin again.
  23. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 27, 2013 -> 05:14 PM) I don't know about you but I want my team to make the post season and win titles. I guess you can hang your hat on having an impressive month of baseball. The post was a response to the post that of course said the team was doomed when and if they start to hit. Said when the team started to hit in 2010 the pitching faltered. They went 26-5.
  24. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 27, 2013 -> 04:39 PM) Unfortunately we all know that when the bats starts heating up, the pitching will take a nosedive. It's just that Sox luck. Happened in '10 too... Yeah that 26-5 streak really sucked. We really couldn't b**** about the team foe over a month.
  25. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 27, 2013 -> 02:11 PM) The pitching staff is not going to be what keeps us from winning games.... The point is if they continue to be this stellar, the Sox will win a lot of games.
