  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:54 PM) attendance - 17,336. More than last night, wow! Stubhub had premium lower boxes for $5 last night and $7 today.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) If it was a Red Sox broadcast, lol. I'd rather hear what Shoeless Joe Jackson, Aparicio, Fox or Luke Appling had to say had to say. Maybe Hawk can get a Harold Baines quote to use occasionally? Or Big Hurt/Ventura. I don't think Harold's wife could get a Harold quote.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:46 PM) He can't print it unless he can get someone to go on record. In a case like this, rumor isn't good enough. In this case, how many guys are there who have knowledge of the situation will speak up? The only reason someone spoke up in the Braun case is because of the extraordinary nature of the appeal. So you saying are everyone needs someone to go on record, and if no one will go on record, how is it that this rumor is out there? A Score guy knows supposedly, so they tell their staff, but tell them only to tell their friends? Why would someone with credibility not be an anonymous source, especially if everyone supposedly hates AJ? Just because some don't like AJ I get is reason to believe this rumor is true, just like when DRose tore his ACL again rehabbing. I guess a lot of people buy the National Equirer and believe everything they read, although that's more credible than this source at this time. Maybe its true, but I would really doubt it, and if it was, how could Terry Boers and Dan Bernstein not at least vaguely reference it?
  4. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) If Mark Gonzalez is hearing rumors of it then it has more substance. There are just so many things going against AJ, including the current MLB environment where players are still getting busted too frequently. He heard the rumor but couldn't confirm it. Just like you heard the rumor. He hears a lot of things that aren't true. There's a good chance if it were true, someone would have put it in ink by now.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) Made it through nearly 1 1/2 hours of a game before the first Ted Williams quote. I'd love to hear what a guy who missed 3 prime seasons in military service but still with a lifetime .344 avg. .482 OBP and 1.116 OPS had to say about hitting.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:23 PM) Because sometimes where there's smoke, there's fire. All it takes is for one person to talk. And if something is under appeal, it could take weeks to come to a conclusion. There's plenty of time for rumors to go around. But hopefully there is nothing legit here. Time will tell, or not. Ok, I'm done talking about this. Its a rumor, most rumors are false. In that sense, since no one is reporting it, its "looking good".
  7. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:22 PM) And this right handed lineup not surprisingly sucks. If they had an all lefty line up and had a 4-1 lead after 4, I'd think you would be happy.
  8. According to the Sun Times, the players were encouraged repeatedly to bunt on Cabrera. KW does need to be careful about ever publicly dissing Robin. Ozzie, people could see how he could aggrevate you, but if KW ever gave Robin too much crap he decided to walk away, the Sox would have a tough time attracting top candidates for the job. If you can't get along with Robin, chances are you aren't going to be getting along with many people.
  9. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:02 PM) Let's just say if AJ was on another team and this leaked out I'd pretty much believe it was true at this point. Of course we'll see in the next few days/weeks more about it but it's not looking good. Why is it "not looking good"?
  10. It was interesting to hear the ESPN crew talk about Sale and his slider in particular. They claimed KW thought Sale was throwing too many sliders and that is why he was moved to the bullpen earlier this year. KW doesn't think his arm could handle it.
  11. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) Peavy has to be effective and efficient staked with w 4-0 lead he needs to go at least 7 and make this team and especially the bullpen forget about last night. Well so much for that idea, he needs to keep the Sox in the game? Dejavu He's on pace to give you 7, and leave the game with the lead.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:54 PM) Who here said it was true? I see people saying "IF" There's a lot of assumptions. Considering the source even wasn't so sure of it, and his source refuses to report it, I would think its more likely false than true.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:43 PM) Where was the Mark Gonzales quote? All he said was he heard the rumor, just like the rest of us, and it was over a week ago. Really nothing.
  14. Its amazing how many people are assuming this rumor from a guy who heard from a guy who works at the Score, is true.
  15. Does anyone think Carlton Fisk did PEDs? He started playing better in his middle 30s. I was anti PED, but I'm starting to think if a player can get them legally, they should let everyone do them. Someone is always going to get away with it. Most things players do is performance enhancing, if done legally, what's the difference between a drug and a workout or diet? If you have a doctor's note, some PEDs can be taken right now. That said, if there is truth to this rumor, I'd turn on AJ.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 11:53 AM) Didn't the Melky Cabrera positive test results stay quiet until MLB made them official? Maybe, but does anyone have any evidence that a media outlet was sitting on the info? When Ryan Braun failed, it was out before he eventually was "charged".
  17. QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 11:51 AM) Flowers did test positive back in like 2008 or something. I remember when KW traded Vazquez for him people complaining about it. I have been wondering about this for a while. The big thing for me is that he started throwing guys out stealing, where last year he couldn't throw guys out stealing even in a pitch out. IMO catchers don't just magically gain that ability at age 35 when they have been bad at it their whole career. They made the pitchers start looking at the runners. He's not throwing any better. He just has a chance now.
  18. Maybe its true, but I would think if the Score knows, no way they don't report it, and if they know, no way no other news outlet knows and it doesn't get leaked. AJ hits a career high in homers at the age of 35. That is suspicious, but supposedly he's doing a lot of lifting these days. Carlton Fisk hit a career high in homers when he was 37.
  19. I don't even know who KW is throwing under the bus. Is it the players, the coaches or Robin? He should save the throwing under the bus quotes for private conversations.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 08:22 AM) Maybe the reason why you go to the press with this is that you've tried saying it in private and felt you didn't have success. If he feels the need to go through the press because privately the message isn't getting through, he needs to hire a new staff. Questioning your personnel publicly isn't going to work in the long run. If KW has all the answers, why is Phil Humber still taking up roster space?
  21. This is something KW really shouldn't be discussing with the press. If he mentions it, don't go, "I can't share the conversation with you". Just keep the press out of it. Yapping is what Ozzie does.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 10:34 PM) I just have a STRONG feeling as soon as our last game is played we're going to hear from Robin and KW how Paulie played with a cracked bone in his hand or something. You just know he's hurt, especially with Hawk implying it a lot throughout the course of the second half. He's definitely hurting, and not just his wrist. Dunn was playing more firstbase before his injury, and they lifted Paulie tonight even though Lopez isn't Brooks Robinson at 3B.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) Gordon Beckham still lives. He's officially a lost cause.
  24. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) Actually that's sad He gave up a double to MAUER. The run scored when the Meyers gave up a hit.
