  1. That should shut up the haters.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 02:07 PM) Looks the Rays moved their rotation around. Now it'll be Shields, Moore, Hellickson, and Price. And the Sox may decide for a 6th starter on Wednesday, failing to realize they're in the final 10 games of the season. But if they keep a 5-man, it's: Quintana, Floyd, Sale, Liriano Yeah, they have no idea how many games are left. You should send them an email to remind them.
  3. QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 02:48 PM) don't you think that pitcher might have had an EASIER TIME of getting the out if he were facing the weaker of the two hitters? Ozzie could have made the pitcher MORE LIKELY to succeed, but instead he did the opposite. Respond. Maybe Ozzie is doing what he did last year, and that was not really trying to win. He knows he's not going to last 3 more years in Miami, and probably doesn't want to. If they fire him, they will pay him to do whatever he feels like doing, just like a year ago. I just wonder if anyone will be dumb enough not to see the pattern and offer him a job. Ozzie's response to the Bell stuff should be interesting. Has Oney chimed in yet?
  4. Heath Bell supposedly just blasted Ozzie in an interview, saying he doesn't respect him, that he doesn't tell the truth, and won't say anything to your face.
  5. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 04:02 AM) Anyone else think it's crazy to change Tuesday's game to a day game so Youk can play? It's not like the guy is lighting it up right now. Let him sit for a game and play it at night, IMO It wasn't just to accommodate Youk, although his USCF stats say if it was, the decision was wise.
  6. Ozzie said he isn't worried about his job. Never did,not with a 3 year contract, not with a 1 year contract. Apparently he has totally erased last year from his small mind.
  7. It was always apparent it wouldn't end well for Ozzie in Miami, but if he doesn't even get to year 2 it will be fun to see the Guillen spin put on things. Nothing was his fault in Chicago, I'm sure nothing will be in Miami. I also wonder what his current appeal is to networks re broadcasting. He certainly isn't the hot thing he was 6 or 7 years ago, but maybe he gets brought in for a Baseball Tonight or MLB Network studio job. I just think his obnoxiousness has played out. He's gone the way of Paris Hilton. Oney might actually have to work in the next few years.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 10:18 AM) It's definitely more stable, simply because of Sale, Rios and Dunn. HOWEVER, there are almost as many ?'s as the past off-season. A lot of them can be answered with money, and that's where that $5-10 million from the playoff shares would really help, as well as an increase in season ticket sales for 2013. On the other hand, we have a big-time closer dilemma at this point. No answer at 3B, but Flowers has made enough strides you could argue he deserves 3-4 months to hold the starting catcher role in 2012. Thornton, Reed, Crain and Jones have all shown flashes and also been horrible quite often, especially Reed in the 2nd half. You almost never know what you're going to get out of Matt Thornton on a game-by-game basis. Viciedo's done just enough to alleviate any concerns whether he's an impact hitter. As you've mentioned many many times, there are now serious concerns about his ability to hit RHPers, especially ones with dominating stuff. If he's a platoon player against only LHP, that's a big loss to the organization moving forward. Didn't you already write off next season a few months ago?
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:45 AM) Youk has turned into a 1 tool player, being that he can hit for power. He's limping towards the finish line right now. I love the production he gave us the first few months he came over, but it seems to be in the best interest of the Sox to look at other options this offseason. At most, I'd offer him a 1 year, 5 million dollar deal. If he wants more money/more years (which seems like a given), then you thank him for his contributions and wish him luck. He hit well at home when he was with the Red Sox this season and has an over 1.100 OPS at USCF. He was 1-34 at Detroit and 3-39 at KC this season. The White Sox seem like the perfect match for him. I can't see anyone offering big money and mutiple years. Given him a lesser deal with some incentives and hope for the best. Who knows, maybe Morel is healthy next year and looks like a ballplayer. Stranger things have happened although not much stranger.
  10. To win, Peavy would have had to allow 1 run or less. The offense needs to pick it up. Youk must be worn out or banged up. As much s*** as Konerko gets, Youk has a sub .600 OPS on the road, and is hitting .160 the last month with a .267 obp, and he really gets nothing thrown his way. I'm sure his body is hurting, just like Paulie's, but somehow he's got to start hitting on the road.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 08:24 AM) Wow, really? There are 12 days left in the regular season, and despite popular belief, the White Sox are in first place. The off season is very long and slow, there will be plenty of time to talk about the Sox crappy farm system, aging roster, blah blah blah. Can't people just enjoy the first real pennant race in 4 years? And its not like these same things haven't been brought up by the thread starter 1000 times already, although I do give him credit for trying to offset his total bummer thread starter by throwing in some Tiger dilemmas.
  12. The Sox and especially their fans, should worry about these things after their 2012 season has concluded. There is nothing that can be done about them right now. Maybe try to enjoy the race to the finish and hopefully the playoffs instead of the impending doom that is now 2013. Of course that impending doom was also in place for 2012 one year ago.
  13. On the bright side if first place isn't bright enough for you, if the Sox make the playoffs, and I think they will, Detroit and KC are 2 teams they won't have to face.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 09:04 PM) How does a comment like this add anything to the conversation???? Just put me on ignore or block, please. Psychologically traumatized fan base freaking out the next 4 games is what you posted,do you not realize you are describing yourself perfectly?
  15. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) Well thank god the board has you to identify my inequities. Maybe we can hold hands and sing. Lift and pull
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 08:59 PM) So it seems CY CHEN is back. 90% of the time when you completely blow a no outs, bases loaded situation...you're toast. We'll see if they can scratch across a run or two. Cue psychologically traumatized fanbase to freak out about the next 4 games, Guthrie and at the Angels. You should know.
  17. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 08:51 PM) Maybe I can take notes you seem to have this figured out. No, I have you figured. If it isn't worth complaining about, it isn't worth posting.
  18. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 08:35 PM) Thanks Dr Phil for your thoughts. Too bad Sale got Butler, you could have told us how stupid Ventura is for not putting him on.
  19. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 08:27 PM) They are perfect and have no flaws. I forget. They have been in first most of the season, but instead of enjoying it you b**** almost every post. If things are as bad as you seem to think they are, they should be closing in on 100 losses.
  20. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 08:19 PM) We are an organization that seems to love hackers. Ball happens to be in the zone and straight we hit it a mile. The pitchers have figured this out and throw s*** out of the zone. The Sox are so bad they are in first.place.
  21. Matt Thornton 2012 ERA 3.21 Matt Thornton career ERA as a White Sox 3.21
  22. Everyone took 3 and 0 when Ozzie was around
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 08:25 PM) Hate to be the pessimist, but would be shocked if we didn't give them the run right back. I think you enjoy being the pessimist very much.
