  1. Youkilis has a 1.195 OPS at home and coming into tonight, a .180 batting average and .568 OPS on the road. Padres and Rockies don't have splits that radically different.
  2. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 09:21 PM) He hit .231 with a sub 700 Ops in August. Yet we keep trotting him out there in the 4 hole. Wise gets bumped to the 3 hole because our manager is incapable of creativity. Dunn hit 3, his replacement must hit 3. Wise was hitting .400 vs. Verlander coming in. It really didn't matter who hit where tonight. He could have picked names out of a hat.
  3. QUOTE (Caesar @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 09:21 PM) If you consider choking away a division and playoff appearance fun, then yep, it's gonna be a f***ing blast. Yeah, just like everything else, being in first place really sucks, and is certainly no fun. You really should find something else more enjoyable to do with your time.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 09:15 PM) It's weird because you can't say PK has had a good season, he hasn't driven in any runs. A good month could probably make his season look good, though. Actually, he's been in a tough spot to drive in runs. If he gets on base, Dunn either cleans the bases or will walk. Considering his OBP without walks and homers, its not as if he advances a lot of players to 3B, and if he walks, he's usually not going to score on a double. Paulie's RBI total is pretty irrelevant.
  5. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 09:12 PM) Paulie has looked pathetic for most of the year besides that one month he was ridiculously hot. He used to get clutch hits all the time, whats wrong with him? Just like the rest of the roster save Jordan Danks, the manager, the coaches, the announcers..................he sucks. You'll find all the information on this board.
  6. All this crap and still in first place. They will put it back together.
  7. Like was mentioned before, Delmon Young is such a jackass, he's one guy it hurts extra bad to watch people celebrating.
  8. This appears to be the 7th game in a row they are going to lose in Detroit. Still in first is a miracle. Things will have to change when the go head to head at USCF. If they just would have won 3 of the 7, they would have a 6 game lead.
  9. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 06:43 PM) I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that he will be back next year if they miss the playoffs. Unless he decides to walk away, it sure is. If he didn't get canned last year, there is no way he's getting canned this year. They have exceeded their own expectations.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 03:08 PM) Wise is 6-15 career vs Verlander, best average on the team. Maybe the Sox are actually looking at splits? What have Viciedo & Beckham done recently that makes it a tragedy to sit them in this game anyway? The people who will complain about Viciedo and Beckham not in the line up are the same people who will wonder what they are doing in the line up if they were playing tonight.
  11. Its amazing how well the Sox played on the road earlier this season, now they look like a 100 loss team on the road. And just the opposite has occurred at home.
  12. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 08:32 PM) this team is done bros Yes. Season is over. No more reason to pay attention.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 08:30 PM) More of a general statement that I would have started Danks from the get-go over Wise. Much like most of Soxtalk And it would have been the incorrect choice.
  14. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 09:51 PM) Detroit deserved to win. The top of the order produced. 2005 and 2008 = apples and oranges. 4 solid starters in 2005. Decent lead going into Sept. No starter was on the DL. Let's not go back there. The Sox lost this game when they had 2,3,4 up with the bases loaded and nobody out and scored nothing.
  15. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 09:48 PM) This. I wish I could explain why Thornton is still seeing leveraged situations. It's baffling to me. What's baffling to me is the same people crying about Thornton being used were crying he wasn't being used when Meyers served up a meatball the other night in Baltimore.
  16. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 09:55 PM) HAHAHAHA. How slow is Miggy? He just hit in to a game-ending DP on a ball that the Royals SS JUMPED OVER the runner, landed, and THEN threw to 1st and still got Cabrera. I thought when he didn't make the throw mid-air, he abandoned the throw, but then he lands, fires, and ends the game. Hilarious. And props to Lorenzo Cain for making a great diving catch in CF with 0 outs in the 9th and Austin Jackson on 1st. He has a bad ankle and weighs around 300 lbs.
  17. For a rookie pitcher who is 7-0 with a 3.20 ERA and averages almost a strikeout an inning for a first place team, Nate Jones gets an incredible amount of crap on this board. He's no HOFer, but he's been a lot better than could be reasonably expected.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 12:25 PM) Adam's not even the worst strikeout artist in this game today. I know, but he's got a pretty good shot at making Reynolds look like a contact hitter when its all over this year.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 12:24 PM) The crazy thing is that it has been passed 11 times since then. Mostly by 2 guys playing in this game today. Drew Stubbs and Mark Reynolds are the only guys to go over 200 and Reynolds has done it 3 times I believe.
  20. In 1970, Bobby Bonds fanned 189 times. That remained a MLB record for 34 years. Adam Dunn is now at 188.
  21. Konerko is the only right handed hitter this guy has retired.
  22. That should keep the haters off Beckham's back for an at bat.
