  1. Heath Bell gave up 4 in the 9th. Ozzie is going to need more beer and sleeping pills.
  2. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) I dont think there's anything special going on in this game. The offense sucks balls, but its been sucking those balls for weeks now. We have to be able to score more than 3 runs in a game....we're a professional ball club. That's the bottom line, no doubt about it. At least that's what Frank would say.
  3. Mauer has hit 2 homers in 2.5 seasons at Target Field.
  4. He was safe. Its about as close as it gets.
  5. I'd like to see a replay. I thought he was out.
  6. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 08:19 PM) right, I didn't say trade him this year. But if he puts up 60 homers and 100 rbi's this year, his contract will look awful good to some teams and maybe we can get a few great youngins for him in the off season A.J. is leaving, Konerko is getting old. We gotta get some young bucks for the future and we have to do it soon Carlos Quentin has a career OPS only .033 lower than Dunn's career OPS. People couldn't wait for him to leave, but they love what Dunn does for twice the cash. They aren't going to trade him during the season, but I'm with you, if someone wanted that contract, I'd let them have it.
  7. Dunn has zero chance until they bring in a reliever tonight.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 07:59 PM) What is wrong with Konerko these days? You have to wonder if that floating fragment/bone chip is still bothering him...that it's still rubbing against a bone. If it's not going to get better, they might as well DL him and play Dan Johnson there for 2 weeks. Nothing we seem to do can knock us too far out of first place for very long. He's hurting a bit, and its pretty hard to keep hitting about .380. Dan Johnson in place of Konerko would more than negate the improvement from Youkilis/Hudson.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 07:57 PM) Peavy close to crossing the 3.00 ERA threshold. It's pretty incredible he could be 6-4 after today with how he's pitched this year so far. This could/would be 5 or 6 losses in a row in games started by Peavy/Sale. How we could still be in first place is beyond me. In his 3 losses, his ERA is 1.08.
  10. I think Youkilis should have stopped Rios' bad throw.
  11. Is that Peter Griffins in the second row behind home plate.
  12. Rizzo is being made out to be the second coming. Every scouting report I read about the guy said he has a chance to be Adam LaRoche. Not a bad player, but not a top breaking news story that he's being called up.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 12:05 PM) You're confusing Soxtalk with Ken Harrelson. Actually Manny was given credit on Soxtalk for a couple of HRs other players hit. As far as Youkilis, its pretty rare a guy who is being paid more by a team that he doesn't play for than by the team he plays for, contributes much. He obviously doesn't have to do much to be an upgrade, but anyone thinking Youkilis hopped in a time machine and its 2008 again, will probably be dissappointed.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 08:09 AM) The Marlins had to give up players to make it all go away. And the Sox wanted Ozzie out. If they really wanted to keep him, he wouldn't be in Miami now or they would have made Miami give up better players.
  15. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 09:56 AM) I've always liked Carlos, but he's always been SO streaky. You have to figure that some team is going to get him just in time for him to go cold, right? Or get hurt. I like him too, but he is very streaky and he's going to miss games.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 09:31 AM) Even Phil Rogers was raving about this deal. Said it was the best KW in-season move since Garcia/Contreras in 2004. For some reason, he thought Leesman was one of the top prospects who would have been potentially included, LOL'ed at that one a bit. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...,6808460.column Didn't Rogers originally call for KW to trade Floyd and Thornton for Youkilis and eat Youk's money?
  17. Lillibridge is out of options, and Boston has some OFs coming back soon. I think his stay in Boston will be brief.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 01:50 AM) Coop did it all behind his other boss' back. ozzie. Cooper didn't have a contract for this season yet. Ozzie was leaving. What was he supposed to do? He already was operating on the last year of a deal, something the Great Ozzie stated he would never do. Why would Ozzie subject his coaches to something he would not do? I am not a Cooper walks on water guy, but sometimes you have to look out for yourself. That's what Ozzie was doing. You don't seem to have a problem with that, and his situation with another year on his contract was nowhere near as desperate as Cooper's.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 08:54 PM) Whoa! The season's over? Wow. I thought it was still June. Jeez, I'm clearly an idiot. Wow, it's 90 degrees in October! You said the worst he would do, he's already doing worse.
  20. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 09:59 PM) This is not a bad comparison, both needed some last minute fine tuning to really make it. The only real difference is in the details, Stewart has been kind of jerked around between relief pitching and starting pitching. He dropped his once 93+ four seamer in favor of the starter-ish sinker and never found it consistently once moved to the pen (which IMO is hard to do). There is a bit more reason to think he'll turn it around than Jeff Marquez (or hindsight is simply too clear), but it's a similar idea and really a very similar trade overall. Hopefully we make out as well as the Yankees did when we had to sell of Swisher for nothing. I actually didn't mind Stewart as much as most, but if he has to be a starter to be effective, I'm saying he's selling insurance in the next 18 months.
  21. Might as well keep Hudson around. Youk is always going to be day to day.
  22. Shockingly the thing that propelled this deal was the inclusion of Stewart.
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 06:20 PM) What's up with all the Kaplan hate? Everyone calm down and enjoy the fact that Kevin Youkilis at his absolute worst is a .680 OPS. WORST. Why are you lying? His current OPS is. 670.
  24. I guess this means Morel is pretty much done this season.
  25. I agree. I don't think extra motivation is going to make him better. I think he's been plenty motivated. Its all about health.
