  1. Marriotti got charged with more crimes. He pulled his ex girlfriends hair.
  2. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 11, 2011 -> 09:40 PM) An intelligent team would release the zero tool player. Bring up Viciedo put him in left. Leadoff with Alexei. But our manager would rather wait for his NL offense to materialize. Interleague is coming up.
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 10, 2011 -> 09:59 PM) Dunn is starting to piss me off. Its getting to the point learning the new league and minor surgery can't be used as excuses anymore. There has to be some concern over deterioration of ability, although I can't see him hitting less than 30 homers if he makes it through the season healthy.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 10, 2011 -> 09:56 PM) I was watching the Bulls game. Did Danks really give up a HR to Maicer Izturis? Explain this somebody. He's hit more homers than Car Go this year. Why the shock?
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ May 10, 2011 -> 06:56 PM) If someone else bought the Sox, they'd leave Chicago. No chance. There's a lease and a television channel. The Sox have a lot more revenue than a lot of teams. If they could somehow truly convince fans that the upper deck really isn't one floor from heaven, they would have a lot better attendance. That is the White Sox biggest problem. The reputation of the upper deck.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:59 PM) Honestly, I really don't care about Humber. He's been great so far. But he's nowhere near as important to this organization going forward as Beckham is. Yeah, I know Wallace sucked last year. And if you read what I said I stated "for the most part" when it came to other teams' top prospects coming up and producing right away. He (Wallace) obviously made some adjustments and now you're seeing why he was so highly regarded (though he's been traded like 22 times). What's Beckham doing? Do we have to wait until August every year for him to look like a major leaguer? I never said Beckham sucks. At least in the sense that he has no talent like Juan Pierre. Sure, if he goes 0/4 with 3 Ks I might say something crazy. But it's not like I think the guy is Jason Kendall. But this game is about results. We're in a hole right now and he's been a big part of it. He or Walker or who f***ing ever need to figure out what the problem is. You were up for trading him straight up for Alex Gordon. How long did Alex Gordon struggle.? Then the minute he has a decent month, he's a guy you want. Baseball season is a marathon, although the Sox trouble at the starting line seems to have left them with little chance real early in the race.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:51 PM) I do think we should wait until at least the ASB before we start crowing about Humber being a feather in KW's or Cooper's cap. It was a good "no risk" acquisition, but there's a long season to go for Beckham to redeem himself and Humber to falter. Unfortunately, Beckham didn't produce (along with 4-5 other guys) when he was most needed, and it's made the season almost irrelevant from here on out, except as "developmental" trial and error in setting up for 2012 and playing spoiler. He was b****ing about Humber just taking the few starts Peavy was going to miss. It turns out during that time he was the Sox best pitcher. Even if Humber has a 25.00 ERA the rest of the year, he was wrong.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:43 PM) Cool. So we get to wait 5 more years until Beckham 'gets it?' That's a terrible comparison and you know it. I really don't mind your b****ing about every White Sox prospect, but when you mention other teams' prospect you fail to mention they have struggled at times too. Brett Wallace was horrid last year. You were very wrong about Humber, maybe you have, but I haven't seen you give him his due., and since you think Beckham sucks, you will be wrong about him.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:26 PM) Nobody will be eating crow. He'll be given his just due like he was in '09 when he was producing. As of right now, he deserves nothing but criticism. We heard all the spring training fluff about how Beckham was "looking to rebound" or "looking to put 2010 behind him" and here we are in the same position with him. Then you look around baseball and you see guys like Buster Posey, Jason Heyward, Drew Stubbs, Justin Smoak, Brett Wallace, Starlin Casto, Ike Davis, and Andrew McCutchen for the most part get called up and consistently produce right off the bat and Beckham's struggles are magnified. Maybe he's a late bloomer like Humber. Have you given Humber his due? BTW, Posey's OPS is down .162 from last year. I wonder if Giants fans are ready to slit their wrists. Justin Smoak was awful with Texas and Seattle last year.
  10. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 7, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) I don't think he's worth $10M this year much less three or four years from now. You do have a point, plus we really don't know if his age given is accurate. He came from the same place that said Jose Contreras is currently 39.
  11. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 7, 2011 -> 10:16 AM) I'd prefer the player who struggled at first, then succeeded. Beckham has so far succeeded at first, then has struggled since 2009. With streaks here an there. Actually, Beckham has struggled, succeeded, struggled, succeeded, struggled. Its really amazing how many people have given up on him. You will all be eating crow.
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 7, 2011 -> 09:33 AM) AJ and Rios were pretty predictable, Dunn and Matt have to be defined as shocking as any players struggles so far this season though, not just that they've been bad but how terrible they've been. Since the AS break last year Dunn is 66-325 .203 batting average with 19 homers 48 rbi 56 walks 124 k's. I still think he'll be OK, but there's going to be a point you can't consider it just a slump anymore.
  13. The Sox need offense and Viciedo is on fire in Charlotte. Its time to make a move.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 7, 2011 -> 08:27 AM) How is this surprising? We see this just about every year. Not this long. The scary thing is even if they snapped out of it tonight, chances are, they are all going to go cold again at some point.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2011 -> 07:54 AM) If you noticed, Thornton was down in the zone in the 9th inning with a lot of his pitches. He was clearly gassed, as he was able to stay up in the zone with a few more mph in the 8th inning. It's comical that he was left in that long. Oh, and Ozzie, why not use Crain instead of Santos then? I really think Ozzie wouldn't mind being fired. I've really never thought that before, but he seems almost resigned to the White Sox fate. Where is his annual speech about how he's was close to walking away. He doesn't want to quit because he wouldn't get the cash. As for the Sox, for a team that is supposedly "all in" they seem to have great faith in all their personnel not performing. Its getting to the point where if things aren't changing they need to do something. Even if they start playing better, which seems like it would be impossible not to happen, an entire summer of meaningless baseball played before tumbleweeds with the inevitiable drop in payroll next season, isn't going to do much for current customers. Something has to be done. Maybe not a firing now, but how about something a little more substantial than Teahen for Morel? They need to quit being so stubborn. If they rally and play well and win 85 games while some will call that a successful season, I find 85 wins if you don't make the playoffs during a year you are "all in" a failure.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 7, 2011 -> 03:23 AM) Who could have projected all these guys would be major horses***? I think I have singlehandedly identified the biggest culprits to our horrendous five week opening that has ended the season on the Southside before it started. I mean can anybody on here say anything good about these guys? I mean I couldn't add Pierre. He actually has had some hits. Morel has been awful but he's no major factor either way. Some of the other relievers we expect to suck. But to you five guys mentioned ... thanks for ruining the season. I mean our starting pitching has been reasonable. Maybe even pretty good. But those 5 guys ... wow. I repeat .. can any of you say anything good about Dunn, Thornton, AJ, Rios and Gordon?? I cannot. And I added Oz and KW for intangible suckiness. I don't think its a surprise any one of them has struggled. What is a surprise is that they are all struggling and the length of the struggles. The season is going to be a quarter over soon. How many good teams play this bad for this long? Its happened, but its extremely rare.
  17. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 7, 2011 -> 12:42 AM) Is this a bad time to remind people that I thought Justin Smoak would've been a better draft choice than Beckham? Did you remind people when Smoak was a strikeout machine getting sent back to the minors? I believe in Beckham. There will be a lot of people eating their words in a month or so.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 6, 2011 -> 11:47 PM) That is hilarious that the only bright spot on the team, humber, will be demoted soon. Typical for our season. He's not getting demoted. In fact, if Peavy shows he's healthy, I think a pitcher is going to get traded pretty soon.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2011 -> 11:45 PM) Any good players out there that are playing in college football? I was a fan of Mitchell when we picked him, but even he seems to be a likely bust. Aren't most football players baseball careers far less successful than what was projected?
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2011 -> 11:43 PM) So that would mean Humber would be back in the rotation after a start or two. Supposedly they are going to a 6 man rotation.
  21. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 6, 2011 -> 11:41 PM) he really needs to be fired that was as bad a manging job as there is enough already A new manager isn't going to turn this around. Don't do him a favor, make him sit through this all summer and either resign or trade him to the Marlins for whatever. Don't give him his guaranteed millions for next year for nothing.
  22. Just wait until this team hits its groove. I've been optimistic, but that is changing quickly. What is there to hang your hat on? They have been brutal in every aspect. A couple of guys are hitting. A couple of guys are pitching, Humber especially, but every other aspect has been about as awful as it could be on the major league level.
  23. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 6, 2011 -> 11:37 PM) i didn't see it, was it a base running mistake by Gordon in the 8th? It probably didn't matter, but Beckham was on third with the infield in and the contact play was on. The ball was hit right to the SS and Beckham was dead. It really wasn't his fault.
  24. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 6, 2011 -> 11:35 PM) Can't blame Ozzie here, IMO. If Thornton can't retire Jack f***ing Wilson then he, well, sucks. His outing is about double the length he's used to.
  25. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 6, 2011 -> 11:34 PM) i really do not think guillen even cares any more I think he wants to get fired. He'd still collect his money.
