  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 11:03 PM) And bunting isn't going to help your offense. That's two outs we shouldn't have given up. Its not only two outs, its perhaps you best hitter giving up at bats.
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 11:00 PM) Pierre is visibly slower than he used to be. Beckham only has decent speed. Jones/Kostay? You serious? Rios and Ramirez I'll give you. But at the same time, you have to get on base. And really? You counter with Hafner and Redmond? I never said anything, but Pierre does appear to be a little slower IMO. Of course, he's still pretty quick but I think the Marlins, even the Cubs version of him beats this version down the line by a step.
  3. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 11:01 PM) Quentin does not look to be anything all that much better than Dye in right That's because he's not much better. He was average to below in LF. He'll be worse in RF.
  4. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 10:59 PM) Must be nice to have players that can drive in runs with base hits. we have ZERO on the year. Only runs on HR, sacflies and groundouts Ozzieball
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 10:57 PM) It would be great if we used our speed and played good defense. That's why we're going to lose this game. I think Hafner does not score if Rios was playing RF on that double.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 10:55 PM) To me, it was the exact same situation. Gordon Beckham isn't Mickey Mantle (yet) and Juan Pierre isn't Rickey Henderson. If Beckham is going to have to bunt twice in a game, he should immediately be moved out of the 2 hole. Its pretty much universally felt, the White Sox are offensively challenged, considering the league they play in. Having maybe your best hitter sac. twice in the same game is silly. What happened to stolen bases? I thought that was one thing Pierre brings to the table.
  7. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 10:51 PM) I know he sucks but TEA-HEN ...sigh... When he starts playing like a major leaguer, I give him the proper respect and spell his name correctly. I'm sure he doesn't mind, as Ozzie once said, as long as its spelled correctly on the paycheck who really cares?
  8. I wonder how Teahen is going to handle the crap he's going to get when he's stinking up the place. He's not in KC anymore. People will actually notice.
  9. Teahan is not a very good player. A waste of $15 million.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 10:46 PM) Rios just doesn't know where this strike zone goes. Neither does anyone else playing today. Neither does the PBP guy. I really hate when Hawk gets on umpires. For all the crap this guy behind the plate has received tonight, he's been pretty solid. He probably missed a couple here and there, but Teahan was struck out and he gave him a walk. I don't think the umpire can be blamed for anything tonight.
  11. What was wrong with that pitch? It was clearly a strike. If they didn't give it to a Sox pitcher Hawk would be barking about it.
  12. So Hawk blasts Cleve for having a punch and judy guy bunt, yet doesn't say anything when Ozzie has Beckham bunt twice. He also blasts the Angels for not playing day games on getaway days, then mentions Cleve. plays tomorrow afternoon, and the White Sox have only 1 getaway day game home game this season.
  13. QUOTE (icroca @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 07:58 PM) They take every f***ing first pitch which seems to the only one to hit in the whole at bat. f*** Greg Walker. Not another guy who thinks Walker tells them to take good pitches and only swing at the bad ones.
  14. The good news is the Twins have a late game against the Angels tonight. Hopefully they will be dragging tomorrow night and then on Saturday with the very early start.
  15. QUOTE (bobryansson @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 07:52 PM) I know it's been beaten to death in other threads, but Ramirez played better at 2nd as a rookie. Beckham is a SS. Yet... Rios is a better RF than Quentin, If Jones must play CF why isn't Quentin in LF and Rios in RF? There's a lot of legit questions that could be asked>
  16. I don't know how anyone can be surprised the White Sox offense is a trouble spot. They had problems last year when Dye hit almost .300 with 25 homers in the first half and Thome hitting fairly well. Its time Alexei starts hitting or if not, its getting to be time he rides pine until its warm out.
  17. QUOTE (bobryansson @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 07:45 PM) I feel lie something bad's gong to happen. (Started typing before ball went to seats.) I'd be surprised if Floyd gave up more than 3 runs tonight.
  18. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 07:43 PM) my observations from today: Bruce Dreckman sucks Greg Walker needs to tell our players that patience is a virtue. Really? 7 pitches or so for Masterson in that first inning? Pathetic. Teahen sucks balls. I don't know about the conspiracy against the White Sox Hawk seems to think many umpires have. The pitches in question were certainly close, but looked like they went around the plate. Its amazing Hawk criticizes other teams for bunting, but if the Sox did it, Ozzie is the smartest manager in baseball.
  19. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 07:06 PM) Man, the stadium is pretty empty. You aren't going to draw well when its in the mid 30s against a team that almost lost 100 games last year.
  20. Its 2 games. Obviously Ozzie is about the only human being alive that thinks Mark Kotsay is perfect as a DH hitting fifth, but it is only 2 games. He's 0-5. There isn't anyone who has played MLB that hasn't been 0-5 at some point. If KW really despised this idea as much as he wants you to believe, he's not going to stand around and do nothing for a couple of months if they aren't getting production. I'm not that worried about it yet, although I have always wondered what Mark Kotsay brings offensively that is better than what Jim Thome brings.
  21. All I know is his success rate when entering with a 1 run lead last year was 50%. He had a bunch of lay up saves. Bobby had a bad year last year.
  22. I don't know why you give a 56 year old coach looking for his first tournament win $15 million to try to turn around a program that has fallen off the face of the earth. This is truly one of the worst hires of all time. Granted, anyone with a decent job probably wasn't interested, but wouldn't a top programs' assistant love this job, or even a guy like Theus would make a much bigger splash. This is the exact same boring thinking that has them in their current spot. Its the "safe" pick, but when its all said and done, it really isn't, its the stupid pick. The Demons basketball fortunes aren't going to change until the get an AD and administration that thinks big and is willing to take chances.
