QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 14, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) I can honestly say it's a pleasure to hear Paciorek again. He was always my favorite. Also, John Rooney and Wayne Hagen. Sad when the announcers being paired (Hawk and Hurt, good radio show appelation) and Whimpy and Farmio is more interesting than the game. Wasn't the reason Hagen was let go that he sounded too much like Rooney?

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 14, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) you'll be hammered by the 5th inning playing the "catfish" drinking game when Mark is pitching. good times You're puking by the fifth. You're at the bottom of the fifth in the third.

Frank just said you hate to play a team after they made a change. Earlier tonight he said the change would be chaos, the Sox had an excellent chance at a sweep. I hate to be critical of the guy since he is just filling in, but..............................................

QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ May 14, 2010 -> 09:31 PM) At least he didn't tell him he reminded him of Catfish Hunter. Catfish got plenty of air time tonight. No Yaz stories though.

When you join the White Sox, you don't join a team, you join a mindset.

Hawk actually giving Frank a compliment for his defense? I'll always remember JR's comment when the Sox made some moves to make Frank a full time DH, "We had to get Frank off first base."

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 14, 2010 -> 09:19 PM) Kotsay is fine as the 25th man (if he's hitting like last year with us, not BOS)...on the roster. Not as a prominently featured player who gets 300-350 AB's. There's no point in even talking about it anymore. Inane. Exactly. A guy who gets 150-200 plate appearances maybe comes in for defense a few times. He good for that, but expecting production is ridiculous.

All you had to do was look at the White Sox line up tonight to know Gil Meche was going to have a decent game. This team is boring and embarrassing.

Ozzie is unhappy because Williams can't throw strikes? Randy f***ing Williams. What did the White Sox expect? Sometimes the back of a baseball card does not lie.

Compared to people on this board, Mark Teahen is a great baseball player. Compared to major leaguers.....................not so good.

I just don't understand when your team has 1 run and 6 outs left plus struggling and a weakened line up, how you possibly leave your pitcher long enough to give up 6 runs. Frank now thinks you have to touch a ball to get an error.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 14, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) ned yost - the royals respond! don cooper - the sox respond? The pitching staff has been a huge dissappointment and you want Cooper to get a promotion? I want you to be my boss.

If Pods gets on first when Buehrle is pitching, I find it almost impossible he doesn't get picked off.

The Designated Hitter
We have known this DH situation was a joke from the get-go, just as we knew DeWayne Wise wasn't going to work out as a leadoff man. Its hard to believe highly paid White Sox employees couldn't or wouldn't see it as well. If its a summer of empty seats at USCF, they'll get what they deserve.

May Catch All White Sox Thread
Interesting poll in espn magazine polling MLB players on the manager they would least like to play for. Coming in at second least desirable was Sweet Lou with 29% of the vote. Coming in first with 30%, the Ozzeroo, and the big gripe was something he gets complemented on often. His face time on TV and all the attention he gets.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 14, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) The reason that Nix isn't in the lineup (over Vizquel) is because Ozzie hates his approach at the plate. He'd honestly prefer Nix to put the ball on the ground then to take pitches and look to drive the ball. Nix hasn't shown he can hit RHP, that's why he's not playing. Vizquel has had some success against Meche. I don't understand him DHing though.

NBA playoffs thread
QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 14, 2010 -> 01:33 AM) I mean from the Bulls standpoint, to me it all depends on whether they could pull a sign and trade to get a 2nd star like Bosh to come in with Lebron. Because the Knicks can do that, and to me, that's gotta be their whole selling point to Lebron, pick which star you want to come and play alongside you. That and Lebron and D'Antoni have a got a pretty good relationship (although D'Antoni's stock is probably at an all time low now especially considering what Alvin Gentry has done in Phoenix). But if neither team can sign a 2nd max player, I think at least the Bulls have the advantage over the Knicks definitely when it comes to talent on the roster. Cleveland pretty much put everything towards winning a championship this season but going after veteran players they thought could put them over the top. Now it's backfired in a huge way. If you wer LeBron, would you rather play with Bosh or Rose? I think its a fair question that could be tough to answer. Noah may be the key. His improvement may help the Bulls in ways never even imagined. I do know this, if LeBron was cloned and played for both the Cavs and Bulls this year, the Cavs would have been knocked out in the first round, and I don't think Boston would have had much of a chance either. If the Bulls get LeBron, I think they dominate the East for at least 5 seasons. Some teams like Orlando will be great, but not great enough.

A lot has been made about LeBron being a big Yankees fan as a reason he may become a Knick. As a kid he was a big Yankees fan, Cowboys fan and Bulls fan.

Trey Hillman fired by KC
Does it really matter who manages that team?
-
Quentin.
Quentin is trying to hit ever ball over the LF foul pole right now. He'll find his stroke, and will become more selective eventually, same with Beckham. The way its going, the way its going, when they start to hit, Konerko, Rios and Jones may struggle.

5/12 GT - Sox (14-19) @ Min (21-12) - 12:10p CSN
At the very least the Sox won't lose more ground this series and with Danks pitching there's an excellent chance they gain 2 games.

5/11 GT Sox (13-19) @ Min (21-11) - 7:10 WCIU/Mediacom in IA
That's probably why he's a one pitch pitcher.

Is Jenks now a 1 pitch pitcher?

Sweet 5th for the Sox. Now the defense lets Freddy down.

Sox sign Alan Embree
This is the same move the Sox made in 2007 when they signed Jeff Nelson, but they gave Nelson more money. Its really nothing to be pissed or excited about. He pitches in Charlotte, if he shows he's better than Randy Williams he comes up, if he doesn't, he won't last the season with the Knights.
