And that's a White Sox winner!!!
QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) I'm assuming that Jenks doesn't still have an ERA near 5 and a WHIP near 2 at the deadline, as he most likely won't. If his WHIP is around 1.4 or 1.5 then, there will likely be some interest. The concerning thing with Jenks is he's been making it interesting in almost all his appearances for quite some time now. Not just this month. He's turning into Rod Beck just with a different repetoire.

And that's a White Sox winner!!!
I wasn't in the game thread, but I would imagine everyone thought this game would be a loss, so its nice to comeback and win and salvage a game because it isn't going to be easy in NY. Jenks has to be a concern. Considering the Cubs were willing to move the $91 million man to a set up role, I wonder if they would be interested in a guy like Jenks to set up.

Juan Pierre loses leadoff role
Pierre is a good #2 guy. He hits it on the ground, will make contact in hit and run situations, can bunt and you won't waste an AB to someone who actually drives in runs, and not counting Wed. doesn't hit into DPs often so if they do get a force he is capable of stealing second. He's not nearly as bad as he's shown, but he shouldn't leadoff. Ninth is good for now, when he starts to hit, and he does get real hot in stretches move him to #2.

If you're KW, who's on your BIG BOARD to replace Ozzie?
I would think Buddy Bell would probably get the job if he wanted it. I think Joey Cora would also be up there. I don't think Ozzie is going anywhere however, and as frustrating as some of his decisions are to me, he is hampered by a roster that is a little short offensively.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 09:56 PM) And of course our slap and tickle leadoff guy makes the last out. Its time to get him out of that spot. If he starts hitting, then move him back perhaps, but he's killing the team. The Sox worst pitcher leads in appearances and their most unproductive regular leads in ABs. Its early still, but time for that to change.

Alexei has to steal. There is very little chance Pierre can drive him in from first.

I really think Quentin's foot is bothering him.

Somebody needs to give Teahen some roids. He'd be a 45 homer guy.

Comcast predicting a single for Teahen.

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 09:37 PM) I still think the most depressing thing about this season has been how awful Beckham has been.. I really hope he turns it around, because I don't want to be a fan of the franchise that ruined Bacon.. He'll be fine. He struggled last season too. Many wanted him sent back to the minors. He's learning a new position, that can't help him and he probably is pressing like a bunch of other guys on the roster. There's no more sure thing on the White Sox roster than Gordon Beckham being the best player on the team for years.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 09:33 PM) It's sad that Wes Whisler looks like a realistic option at the major league level. Yeah, he's nothing but meat.

QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 09:28 PM) DFA Williams and call up Threets I think Threets has been injured. Just let Santos pitch when Williams has been pitching. No one is touching him. Who cares about R/L

On the bright side, Alexei coaxed his first walk tonight. What is the over/under date for Pierre's first extra base hit in White Sox doubleknits?

QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 09:23 PM) so now, of 11 runners that Williams has inherited.. 8 have scored. He's stranded 3. That's a good start.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 09:21 PM) Why the f*** don't you pitch-hit for Vizquel? Ozzie doesn't want to embarrass him, but he embarrasses him more having him try to hit.

QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) It'd be interesting to know what it was inning to date, right after the 1st....near 10 would be my guess. 9.26

White Sox @ Rangers
Let's see if Ozzie has the balls to PH for Vizquel. The Sox need baserunners not nostalgic looks back to the 90s.
-
White Sox @ Rangers
At least Peavy turned it around after the first. I don't understand Ozzie's fascination with Randy Williams. I understand he's a lefty, but..................

QUOTE (Maverick0984 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 07:54 PM) When is the Omar Visquel experiment over? I never liked the signing of Omar, but if he's tutoring Alexei, Alexei at least is making good throws this year. If Frank Thomas was the Sox firstbaseman last year, Anorexei would have easily had 40 errors. Unfortunately, Alexei is also hitting like a 43 year old Vizquel.

Ozzieball. Does Hawk really believe the umpires have a conspiracy against the Sox?

QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 07:30 PM) can we please stop using the "F" in between Peavys initials We can still use it. It just means something totally different. As long as he's not hurt, I think he'll be fine eventually.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 07:30 PM) I completely agree, he's not finishing his pitches at all. It's the main reason that he has no bite on his slider. They might as well DL him, as he's not helping this team right now. He's definitely not finishing off pitches. What how his arm snaps back almost as soon as he lets it go.

Peavy seems to flinch after each pitch. I wonder if he doesn't have some issues after being hit last year.
