  1. QUOTE (Hanky Panky @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 09:50 PM) Rusty Kuntz should be pronounced "c***s" I was a little kid when he played for the Sox. That's how I pronounced it.
  2. Alexei should have been riding pine for his latest mental screw up. However, Lillibridge playing would just make a bad situation worse. I thought last year Alexei showed a pretty high baseball IQ. This year, it sometimes seems like he just started playing a couple of hours before the game.
  3. I'm glad Ozzie left Freddy in to get a win................Oh wait
  4. I don't know how giving a guy who has never pitched above college $15 million and about 50% more than anyone in that same situation has ever received a win, but I'm glad he signed. I wonder if he'll live up to the hype.
  5. KW says underachievers, per the Tribune: By Dave van Dyck Rain was falling as U. S. Cellular Field, delaying the start of a White Sox homestand Monday night against Kansas City. General manager Kenny Williams got the evening off to a pointed start by criticizing his team after a 3-3 road trip to Seattle and Oakland. "I'm not happy with the road trip," Williams said. "We lost two games we should have won, which [would put] us in first place by a half game. We've thrown away about a dozen games this year, where we would be where I thought we would be, which is in first place and in a good position "But we deserved what we got. I'm not happy with a lot of what I see. We're underachievers."
  6. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 05:55 PM) It was either Linebrink, Pena, or Jenks. No good choices, but Jenks was the best of the 3. Exactly. If any of the other guys were brought in and runs scored, people would wonder where was Jenks.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 05:53 PM) What are his records in those situations? I don't know, but its probably not as bad as everyone thinks. If it was, Jenks wouldn't be the folk hero he is around here. I think the Sox need to send Jenks away, but I don't think they could get much for him. I wonder if he'll be non-tendered.
  8. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 05:51 PM) He wouldn't have caught that unless he was lucky. He's not tall enough to make that leap. If he was at the wall, he wouldn't have had to leap.
  9. Jenks has appeared in 263 major league games. 102 of those in non save situations.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 05:47 PM) He usually doesn't pitch in a game like today. Ozzie did this on a rarity. He's a pitcher. If the game goes 15 innings, you can't put him in? That's ridiculous and I stand by my statement. If Bobby Jenks can only pitch in save situations, he shouldn't be on the roster, not with the contract he has.
  11. QUOTE (TheHolyBovine @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 05:43 PM) Because clearly spending money on the bullpen has worked so well for us up to now. It has. Linebrink and Dotel are a lot better than the minor leaguers KW trotted out there in 2007.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 05:42 PM) Ozzie managed against the book and it hurt him. Don't use your closer in non-save situations on the road. If Jenks can't pitch in a tie game, he shouldn't be on the roster.
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 05:41 PM) Sox always play terrible in Oakland. Itd have been great if the Sox won all 3, but 2 out of 3 is the next best scenario. Its seems every time the Sox are involved in a 3 game series and win the first 2, we could copy and paste your post, just editing the opponent. They need some sort of mental stimulation for these games. 2 out of 3 is good. 3 out of 3 is better.
  14. Jenks may be 22 for 26 in save opps, but he's having a horrible season. I really wonder if he has much trade value at all. Who is going to want to pay him what he would get in arbitration?
  15. They actually considered walking Pods to get to Beckham.
  16. QUOTE (qwerty @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 05:24 PM) Jphat, you are currently just a shadow of your former self... for a long time i thought you were some happy-go-lucky robot that thought the sox could do absolutely no wrong. I know. Either he fell on his head or he dropped some bad acid. He's a changed man.
  17. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 05:23 PM) Since I haven't yet said this all weekend... my opinion on Mike Huff.. he's awful. Uuggghhh I miss Stoney. Can't wait for him to be back. Its probably why he runs the White Sox Training Academy and isn't in a booth full-time.
  18. At least Hawk can blame the umpire.
  19. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) Almost like a repeat of your avi. Pods is an awful defender. I hope he's not brought back next year just for that reason alone. What the Sox are getting out of Pods offensively this year is a miracle. To expect anything close next year would be foolish. Ride this out and say goodbye.
  20. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 05:17 PM) He doesn't do well is what you are saying? Bring him in with a 2 or 3 run lead, he's automatic for a save. He's not bad, but not nearly elite.
  21. Burn Pods glove. Man is he an awful defensive player.
  22. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 05:13 PM) Bobby should never be brought in unless to start the inning. This I am sure of. He doesn't do well starting with runners on. He doesn't do well in non save situations He doesn't do well unless he starts an inning. He's 6 for 10 in saves with a 1 run lead. I think we know why the Sox aren't going to be particularly thrilled to be paying him $8-9 million next year.
  23. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 05:13 PM) The guy slid into the tag... don't know how that ump missed it. He tagged him on the back of the elbow. I think his hand was already on the bag.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 05:12 PM) Nix should have made sure to tag him when he was off the entire bag...come on. Instead of just assuming he was out on a very close play, if he stuck with it, it would have been an easy tag and call.
  25. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 05:11 PM) He was definitely out, very bad call by the ump. Started to signal out, then switched to safe. One of those angles looked like he was very safe. It was very close, even slowed down. Nix needs to stay with the play.
