  1. Wise is not the guy you want hitting here. There is no way KW doesn't get a lead off hitter this offseason.
  2. QUOTE (kane0730 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:39 PM) Hello Dirty .230 He'll need a hot streak to be that.
  3. That's a triple if Jr. is playing CF.
  4. Swisher is going to strike out for Uribe.
  5. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:36 PM) but javy is worse than dog s***. According to some on this board, he's one of the best pitchers in baseball.
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:35 PM) It's good to see the Sox making another dog s*** pitcher look good. He has a lower ERA and better winning pct. than Javy.
  7. QUOTE (iguchi=dank @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:31 PM) In my opinion Swisher gets to play everyday in left that ozzie wants to play griff in center, and then BA gets to come in late for griffey, that seemed to work for a while and its what we should do. Wise has had his moments and as a PH he can have a few more, but he can't start for us.. seriously, he can't be a starter in the playoffs, we need to ride the swisher and hope things turn around for him, i still for whatever reason think he can, but at least be better than d. wise. anyway lets go right here and take wise out. Unless Wise comes up huge in the next few innings, I have no doubt dirty 30 will be playing tomorrow.
  8. Dye should be thinking RC. He has really looked silly on breaking balls for a while.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:28 PM) No one cares about pitch counts in a game like this. I'll bet you they don't let him throw 130 pitches no matter how good he's doing.
  10. Buerhle is settling down. Too bad his pitch count will get to him later and get us a view of the bullpen.
  11. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 02:22 PM) From the "McCain's Trying to Hide Bad Polls" Crowd: CNN Polls: CO - Obama +4 MI - Obama +5 PA - Obama +9 WV - McCain +4!!! MT - McCain +11 I really believe if the election were held today, McCain would win. I think unfortunately there are still a lot of people that when it comes time to actually vote will not vote for Obama because of his race.
  12. Obama also loses probably more than a little if he suspends his campaign just because McCain says so, I would think. This crisis has been going on for a while and McCain had not suspended his campaign. Why now? Why not several weeks ago? Why did he wait until Palin's numbers started dropping like the Dow?
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 03:09 PM) I disagree, I think this may save McCain. The Republican's had jumped the shark with their rhetoric this campaign, they were trying to beat Obama at his own game the "change" card. It started to become ridiculous comparisons of "who is the bigger reformer", "who brings more change", and at the end of the day its just strange that they thought it was a good idea to run on that idea. Now they can change tactics drastically and not lose any face. McCain will "stop campaigning" while the campaign changes directions. McCain will run on the fact that he just wants to do whats best for America, that he is and has always been willing to sacrifice for America. Here are a bunch of statements if I was McCain Id use against Obama now: "Look at what I did when I was running for President, I put aside my chances to win, so that I could solve the crises, I gave up my dream, so that the rest of America could be saved. If I lost my chance to be elected President because I cared to much about America, I can live with that. I can live with looking into American's eyes and saying I did the right thing, as opposed to I did what was best for me. Because thats what I believe America is about, its about selflessness, its about the good of everyone. And today I did what was best for America, because some times doing the right thing means you have to sacrifice." Strategy wise, I think its pretty good it could backfire but I believe right now McCain felt that things hadnt been going his way recently, so desperate times call for desperate measures. The other side of the argument is he's supposed to be such a leader and has been in Congress and the Senate for 26 years, how did he and his cohorts let the economy get to this point?
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 02:03 PM) It's a very difficult decision for Obama. I assume the Republicans will claim that he cares more about becoming president than actually helping out the citizens of the United States. Of course they will, just like they had to scale back their convention for the hurricane, but when Katrina hit where were they where was McCain? Oh yeah, he was on a tarmac greeting Bush with a birthday cake.
  15. "I'm going to be honest: I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated," McCain told the Wall Street Journal in late November. This is the guy who doesn't want to debate because he needs to fix the economy. That's rich.
  16. The good news is the Sox really only need one of these games to remain fairly comfortable in the driver's seat. The only thing that concerns me is the team really seems spooked about playing in Minnesota. Its time for that to end.
  17. QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 11:28 AM) Of course it matters. Are you trying to say that facts don't matter... it's only opinions that matter? If someone says he's a big game choker then they should be able to point out the big games... unless they're just venting which I can understand because last night was ugly. So... what are the BIG games? For example: on August 17th, when we were tied with the Twins and playing the A's on the west coast... and Javy went 8 innings, and gave up only 4 hits to help the Sox take the series and stay in first place. Was that a "big game"? Or when we had just lost two games in Cleveland the beginning of this month... and we were in danger of being swept... and Javy went 6 innings, gave up 2 runs on 5 hits, struck out 5 and walked 1. We started that day with 1/2 game lead over the Twins. Was that a "big game" or not? You missed the starts against TB which he did decently but lost. The start against Boston. He did well against a Detroit team mailing it in after about 50 hours of rain delays and here the Sox are in a fight for their playoff lives and your guy Javy, the guy who gets paid $2,000,000 a month, hasn't seen the 5th inning against NY or Minnesota on the biggest roadtrip of the season. His 2 shortest starts of his White Sox career. Wow he can shut down the A's, the team that went 40-50 consecutive games without scoring 7 runs. Explain the 11-12 record in 2006 compared to 15-8 in 2007 and 12-15 this year? What about his starts against the Cubs? Those were big games and Javy went in the corner and hid.The guy is a second division pitcher. That's his comfort zone. His ERA in 2006 was higher than league average. It was well below last year, and is average this year, It was higher than average with the Yankees, so basically, maybe its just coincidence, but his ERA is usually higher than average to just about average when he plays with contending teams. BTW, his numbers this season are earily similar to his career totals. He may have a great arm, and good "stuff", but he's a mediocre at best performer as his numbers would indicate.
  18. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 08:20 PM) I don't get why we're putting DJ out there unless we don't plan on ever using him in this series in a close game???? This is the PERFECT time for Horrible Ramirez, Juan Agosto's long lost Twin brother With his motion and mannerisms, Ramirez looks a lot like Wilson Alvarez. Unfortunately, they aren't close in the arm department.
  19. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) I don't know about a beanball, but I think -- without question -- Kubel's leaning out there. Once again, not enough throwing inside. Do it tomorrow when it might make a difference.
  20. The disconcerning thing to me is forget the blowout loss. The entire team seems to really believe they cannot win in that building. They have been convinced every which way. I wish the organization as a whole would quit kissing Twinkie ass. Ozzie should come out and say the White Sox are far better than them. Maybe even say they suck. I bet if you switched rosters right now with Minnesota, the Twins would kill the White Sox just as much as they do now.
  21. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 09:05 PM) It has to do with SOUND?!?!?!? I love the Hawk, but oh my. He may be on to something actually. I was reading the other day about a study with people sleeping. When the researchers stuck rotten eggs underneath their noses while they were sleeping they had bad dreams. When they smelled something pleasant, they had good dreams. I wouldn't doubt hearing has some sort of effect.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 08:53 PM) Give me your opinion...how can Ozzie save face with Javy now? Considering Javy s*** his pants yet again, I don't think he has to save face, and frankly if Javy has a problem, I hope it enhances the chances of him being dealt. He's pretty much proven he is a below average to average pitcher on good teams, and unless the Sox plan to re-create 2007 the next couple years, he's a collosal waste of money.
  23. At least we know Javy won't be spooked by his performance when he's back in Puerto Rico spending a portion of his millions on hookers .
  24. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 07:27 PM) I wouldn't pull Javy. I'd leave him out there to die. This game is over, and he deserves every second of the embarrassment. Hawk pops off constantly how Javy could easily throw 150 pitches. No problems.
  25. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 07:24 PM) He just doesn't have a winners mentality. I wonder just exactly what it is with him. I don't think its lack of effort. It could be lack of stones. It also could be all those years in Montreal conditioned him for meaningless for the most part, baseball games, and he never learned how to win or perform well in big situations.
