Ozzie plays Wise because of Griffey in CF, but everyone knows I'm not big on Swisher and he's a far better LF than Wise defensively. Offensively they are the same except Swisher will coax a walk and Wise, if he ever gets on may steal a base.

They would have sent him. Griffey has lost a lot defensively, but his arm is still not bad.

All Javy has to do is pitch well and he can get rid of his reputation pretty quickly. He needs to shut the Rays down. For all who continue to make excuses for him, he was 12-16 with a 4.66 ERA. His record and ERA were below average. He's 0-0 right now. I liked the Clayton Richard idea, especially against Tampa, but its time Javy stepped up. As Geoff Blum and Willie Harris proved, your bad season is easily forgotten with a decent performance now.

Jason Varitek never did. The only time Brian Roberts ever did was a 29 AB stint in rookie ball. Put things into perspective. Gomez is 9 months older than the latest White Sox #1 pick. He still hit .260. Stole 30 bases. Maybe that's not useful to you, but for a 22 year old its not bad. His OBP is .014 lower than Alexei Ramirez. It obviously needs some work, but he's only 22 with a ton of talent. I don't think he's as good as Hawk says he is, but he's certtainly a lot better than Jerry Owens.
