QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 12:19 PM) CQ hit by the pitch. Isn't this what made Ozzie mad in the TX series? I think these teams are head hunting and getting away with it He's always going to get hit a lot. I would like to see a steal to stay out of a DP.

QUOTE (robin23 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 12:17 PM) have you watched contreras pitch the last 5 outings? How many times did he give up 4 runs in the first?

QUOTE (robin23 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 12:10 PM) Overall the kid is already better than Contreras we would be down 4-0 if Jose was pitching. OK

KW not likely to make impact deals
QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 10:18 AM) Ok I get the point that we have no idea what they would bring in return (which I don't really believe with BA), but I think the insurance thing is a bunch of BS. Getz: Uribe, Richar will be on the field before him BA: They have enough faith in him to play Dewayne Wise before they will let him get some regular at bats.... Haeger: we have plenty of spot start capable pitchers in the minors. The Charlie project has been tried and upper management didn't seem to like it too much. Its like taking out an insurance policy on an insurance policy...it just doesn't make much sense About 10 or 12 years ago, the White Sox had plenty of OF in the minors and some guy was struggling to hit much in the lower levels. He was subjected to the rule 5 draft. Nobody took him. A couple of years later, he was one of the top hitters in the league. Magglio. Last night, Jenks was warming up in a 10-2 game with Linebrink on the mound. I'm pretty sure Ozzie didn't think Linebrink was going to give up 8 runs, but I think he may have questioned if he could make it through the inning physically. I think KW will get pitching.

Dodgers Showcasing Andy LaRoche
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 10:04 AM) Latest from Rosenthal via MLBTradeRumors: That is the deal I really was hoping for. It makes great sense considering Ramirez is supposed to be a terrific defensive SS and Roberts is a superior offensive player to OC, better equiped to lead off, and not bad with the glove either, and signed for an additional season.

KW not likely to make impact deals
QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 10:45 AM) I hear some of you talking about KW trying to rebuild the farm system and not going for much this break, but I ask you this.... Why do we keep BA, Haeger, Getz, ETC around? We all know that they will never be everyday/week starters for the White Sox.... Might as well get something for them while they are still young rather than let them sit around in the minors like Dewayne Wise.... There's a couple of reasons. One, you don't know if someday you may need them because of injury or something else or if they just explode into pretty good players, and two, we have no idea what their market value is at this time. While there are lots of names being thrown around in the media, it doesn't mean those same players are available for guys the White Sox supposedly have no use. The majority of White Sox minor leaguers will never be starters for the White Sox. It doesn't mean getting rid of them all.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 02:58 AM) alright, here's how the process goes or has gone player A gets injured...not bad enough to sit, but bad enough that it's a nuisance. player A continues to play, pain continues to manifest, and player A struggles because of it player A takes a bit off, hopes pain goes away, and comes back...pain has apparently not gone away player A continues to hope and pray it goes away and another injury comes up, where player A has to go on the DL player A now rests for a good 20-30 days, letting everything heal player A comes back after having not seen major league pitching in almost a month and is a little rusty, perhaps playing with phantom pain as well player A starts swinging the bat well, but the balls aren't falling yet; player A is also mired in a bit of a slump due to rustiness player A finally starts hitting and seeing the ball well and not just swinging well, but hitting them at people player A is playing well As far as I've ever seen, that's a pretty general synopsis of where Paul Konerko is to this point in the season...it happens. He is at the second to last phase, and if you watched the game tonight, you would have seen that. So yeah, everyone please keep telling me about how badly Paul Konerko sucks, even 3 weeks later when his average has risen 25 points, he's up to 15 homers on the season, and his OPS is up to .735. You did it to me and everyone else for Jim Thome too, even though he was a good player as of about June 1st. What's funny is the same guy who says Konerko is so horrible wanted KW to trade for Geoff Blum. The same guy also thought Sunday was a must win game.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 09:19 PM) It depends on why Uribe would be playing. If it's because of tenderness in Joe's back, then I'd be just fine with it. If it's because Alexei had a manicure at 1:30, then it'd be a different story. I have no problem with attempting to keep a hot bat going; it's when Uribe goes in his 0-for-30 slumps (or so it feels) that he shouldn't be playing in back to back games. It's been proven in the past that a hot Uribe can carry a team for a bit...he just doesn't stay hot enough long enough. Agreed completely on Konerko though...he hit some balls very well tonight and he looked pretty solid last night too. I'd imagine his average will be in the .230s or so come the first week of August. I have a feeling he'll be giving Cabrera a break tomorrow.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!
What was interesting is when the score was 10-2 and Linebrink on the mound, Jenks was warming up. I'm not convinced Linebrink is healthy.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!
QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 09:44 PM) please move alexei up in the lineup and dump Konerko. Konerko hit the ball pretty well tonight. He had a hit and his rbi force out was ripped. Ramirez hit the ball hard just about everytime as well. My man Uribe with 2 doubles. I'm sure if he's in the line-up tomorrow scores will be b****ing.

Sox should trade Josh Fields
QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 03:19 PM) Don't the Sox have above average offensive numbers in the AL this season compared to other teams (well not in BA, but in OBP, RISP and HR's)? They are 4th in the AL in runs. The firing Walker crap is so old.

Dodgers Showcasing Andy LaRoche
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 12:32 PM) Why when the Dodgers are offering a superior player in Kemp. The Sox should be able to acquire Roberts without giving up one current major leaguer (Package involving Fields, SP prospect, Richar). If you want to trade OC you better be getting a very good young player in return (otherwise I'll take the 2 picks). The Sox should not trade OC for an aging ball-player. I think Roberts is the better leadoff hitter, and is a good defensive secondbaseman. Move Ramirez to SS, plus Roberts isn't a FA after this season and you are better off this year and next. The Sox are not trading Konerko or Thome whether everyone likes it or not. They won't bench Swisher, Quentin or Dye. Kemp will have no place to play. This way you send Dodger prospects to Baltimore, maybe throw in a fringe player and your minor leagues are no worse for wear and IMO you have improved your team. As fathom pointed out, the Sox seem to go how Cabrera goes, and to a certain extent it was that way with Podsednik. Get a real leadoff guy and see what happens. I also highly doubt the Dodgers would give up Kemp for 2 months of Cabrera.

Dodgers Showcasing Andy LaRoche
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 01:02 PM) If you want to make an interesting offer to the Dodgers, throw Crede and Cabrera at them and see if they bite. You'd be able to get Kemp and another prospect or two (which you could use to target a starting pitcher the club would have interest in). Personally, I would like them to try to turn Cabrera into Brian Roberts. A 3 way with the Dodgers mak be able to do that.

Adam Dunn
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 07:37 AM) Why not? The two teams have made deals recently. The only reason they wouldn't is because they couldn't agree on a price, not because they won't deal with each other. A CF who is their leadoff guy or #3 hitter and is under control for the next 3 seasons at a very reasonable rate, isn't going to be traded to the White Sox, unless you greatly overpay for him. Considering Fields is the main chip, the Royals have Gordon. Most of the other minor leaguers are either not ready or still questionable as to what they can be projected to become. Its one thing to trade an often injured MacDougal, but to trade a cheap, effective player to a division rival and face him 18 or 19 games a year, its a different story.

Dodgers Showcasing Andy LaRoche
QUOTE (striker62704 @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 10:23 AM) I like the idea of trading Fields and letting Crede walk, and trading for LaRoche as the long term replacement. Fields stock is probably worth more than LaRoche despite a bad year in AAA this year. How about Fields + Haegar for Street, Broadway/MacDougal for LaRoche. Think I'd get any bites? Why would any team give you anything remotely useful for MacDougal and Broadway. They have been beyond terrible.

Rangers @ White Sox 7/21/08 7:11pm
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 09:43 PM) They lead the league in runs scored, in hits, in doubles, 4th in triples, and OPS. Maybe I like their offense because they are not one dimensional like the sox. They have been 1 dimensional tonight until they were Boone Loganed and could only muster 3 runs in 3 games in Minnesota.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 09:38 PM) Rip me all you want- We suck. Now we'll go out and win tomorrow and you'll say "WE SUCK, good call, you're an idiot" and so on- GREAT, WE BEAT THE RANGERS, THEY SUCK HARD ON THE ROAD AND WE SHOULD HAVE SWEPT THEM. EXCEPT THEY HAD WALTER JOHNSON ON THE MOUND TODAY AND WE HAVE A BUNCH OF BUMS AT THE PLATE. Pedro Martinez is on the mound again tomorrow for Texas. Then there really is no reason for you to watch anymore. Why don't you find something more enjoyable to occupy your time?

Rangers @ White Sox 7/21/08 7:11pm
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 09:36 PM) Man we have this swinging for the fences crap down to a science. Upper cut it and watch it get caught on the track. Line drives are for pussies, chicks dig the long ball. Yet you bow down to Texas and their hitting coach, and all of their runs tonight have scored via the longball. A 3 run homer after the previous batter walked on a pitch called a strike to every other hitter, and a 2 run homer after a pop up that found a nice place to land (I still wonder where Cabrera was going),

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 07:50 PM) I know man, losing the past 2 games when the Twins lost is good. You thought yesterday was a must win game. They lost, so its over. Why do you even care anymore?

Rangers @ White Sox 7/21/08 7:11pm
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 07:43 PM) It's fine: 1. It's just 1 game. 2. We have a tough pitcher going against us. They lost the must win game yesterday. They are just playing out the string.

Sox should trade Josh Fields
QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 05:59 PM) Zito and Sabathia are two totally different pitchers. It doesn't matter. Pitchers are made to get injured. I like Sabathia as much as anyone, but he's already had some injury issues and he's dreadfully out of shape. Pitching puts a lot of strain on that huge body. I can see him falling off a cliff someday. He's a little like Bartolo Colon. He'll probably have a good year or 2, but he'll probably miss a season or 2 if you give him 6 or 7 years.

Rangers @ White Sox 7/21/08 7:11pm
Its time for the pitching staff to get back with it. If the Sox have to score 8 or 9 to win, they usually will lose. Earn your check tonight Javy.
