QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 02:44 PM) Yeah, I think Pablo was the emergency catcher, I have no idea who it would be if Hall and AJ both had to leave a game Konerko.

KW needs to get Blum. Anything to end the Uribe era.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 02:35 PM) Octavio should just be the whole bullpen If you read Soxtalk earlier this year, he shouldn't pitch in any close games.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 02:32 PM) Javy gets paid a lot of money. It would be nice if he could allow less runs than what the Sox score on occasion. As DAllen says all the time, he puts up the big numbers in terms of strike outs, but he struggles to actually win games. I wonder what Javy's stats are when his team is in first place or within 3 games. I think if he spent his entire career withw the Pittsburgh Pirates he would have a Cy Young or 2 right now.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) That's the problem. Waiting for the homer train. We need to be more aggressive then that In the 7th, I don't think you have much of a choice. If he swings and misses chances are one of those guys is out. Its just too bad hit hit into a DP. A pop out there and its probably at least 8-6 right now.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 02:30 PM) The same Gavin who has an ERA of 4.85 in his last 5 starts? What? Javy Vazquez had a 4.84 ERA for the season in 2006, yet a lot were thrilled KW gave him $40 million. Maybe they should check KW's attic for duffel bags.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 03:29 PM) Carlos GIDP. Why weren't two fast runner in OC and Swish not running? Hit and run would be nice, but NOOOO! When its 8-4 and a guy with 25 homers is at bat, I think you want to try and see if he can make it 8-7

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 03:01 PM) Somebody help me out; how did Richard look? Thanks in advance. Mixed bag. There was some to like. I think his motion really screws some guys up. Obviously, he's nervous and Texas can hit. If Contreras can't go, I think he'll get another shot. Of course if Contreras had the same outing, there would be about 75 posts calling for his release.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 02:57 PM) Perhaps you should read the post following- I never read up on his stats as I guessed he was more near his career mark at .260. I then corrected myself. Good. Admitting you have no idea what you are talking about is a good start.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 02:53 PM) We single-handedly let Detroit back into this race. A loss today and they'll be only 4.5 back. The Sox lost the must win on Sunday. The season has been over for 3 days. I agree with you though, one thought for a miracle would be for KW to go get Geoff Blum back. He can play several positions terribly.

Dodgers Showcasing Andy LaRoche
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 01:23 PM) I understand that. The O's weren't going to be getting OC, but somehow there was talk that the Sox would have to give up more than OC in order to acquire Roberts in a 3 way. That just doesn't make sense to me. I realize Roberts isn't a FA at the end of the year but I still think OC is more valuable. Now if the Sox were making two seperate deals (which could be the case based on some of the wording I saw) than I could see the Sox not having enough to get Roberts (especially if they are hesitant with giving up Fields). I disagree with you. I think 220 games with Brian Roberts is definitely worth more than 60 games with OC.

I am so thankful the Cubs sold Josh Hamilton to Cincinatti.

Contreras would have given up 5 runs during this break. That's 13 on the day.

This isn't exactly an ideal day to make your major league debut on the mound. Facing the league's best offense with a 1.5 game lead in the division, against a fairly reliable veteran.

Whats the email address if the Sox score ten to win a bag of 10 sliders? They claim there's 100 winners.

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 12:37 PM) On gameday it looks like he's always right on or just off the corners. Going to throw a lot of pitches that way. He's going to throw a lot of pitches because his heart is pounding 1000 times a minute. Its understandable.

If Contreras was pitching, Texas would have 8 by now.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 12:28 PM) And Jim Thome stays hot, that's about 2 full months now. Imagine how good he'd be if he still had adequate bat speed. And if he still had his power.
