  1. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 08:13 PM) Holy Hell, seriously?? Thats awful You said his RBI hit, getting the other guy to third which led to another run didn't make up for his errors, and you question any post?
  2. QUOTE(kjshoe04 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 08:10 PM) Crede's swing has looked even longer than usual of late. Yet he keeps on hitting. Keep in mind, Josh Fields is 1-11 with 6 ks in Charlotte.
  3. Crede is a bad bunter. Don't bunt.
  4. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 07:53 PM) Yeah, since his cannon is used so often at 2B Turning 2, its nice to have.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 07:54 PM) Thome's been too aggressive at the plate the last few games it seems like. I agree. When he's hot he doesn't swing at 3-0 sinkers like he did his first AB.
  6. Why doesn't Ozzie put a guy at 2B who can field?
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 05:22 PM) If the Sox really want a leadoff hitter with speed, trade for one that plays 2nd and slide Swisher to a run production spot. Brian Roberts would be perfect for the White Sox. Maybe Broadway can impress McFail.
  8. I'm one of the few who enjoys Jon Miller's "safe" call.
  9. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 04:50 PM) Inge at center? He's damn athletic, but idk how he is out there. I'm sure Lexi will get some love from the ESPN announcers and provide some interesting observations on him even though Quentin should be out there. He's a real good CF. The funny thing is he probably uses the same glove in CF that he uses at 3B. Its gigantic. The biggest infielder's glove I've ever seen.
  10. It would really be unfair to BA to sit him for a week and then throw him at Verlander. So it wouldn't shock me if that's what happens, but I still doubt it.
  11. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 10:42 AM) Coincidence. I'm sure some WS winners had 4-game losing streaks. Just because it didn't happen at the start of the season doesn't mean much. What should worry them more is how wretched Dontrelle looked yesterday. Even when he was throwing a no-hitter he looked like crap. If he can't be at least a competent innings-eater, that's big trouble, especially with the bullpen woes. Willis had some positives. He only gave up 1 hit. His walks were ridiculous and 0 strikeouts have to be a concern, but he has something to work with. I just don't think the Tigers can win if they can't do anything about their bullpen. You cannot win today with a bad bullpen.
  12. I can't believe Brennaman called that a "shot" down the 3rd base line.
  13. I don't like him, but Floyd pitched pretty well today. He was lucky Renteria was dogging it and Quentin rifled him out at first because that would have been another run, and there was a drive that was out of most parks but a can of corn in Detroit, but that's pitching to the park.
  14. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 04:48 PM) I want an Orange cooler I'd take a used lottery ticket
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 04:47 PM) After that arm injury he had last year? Can he even throw? In other words, the Tigers just offered him a contract. Maybe lefty?
  16. Toby Hall is the worst player in the major leagues. Maybe he should become a relief pitcher. I'm sure the Tigers would have interest.
  17. QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 04:37 PM) Detroit's 'pen is going to suffer this year. At least until Zumaya is back. Zumaya if he comes back this year, won't be Zumaya.
  18. QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 04:35 PM) dtrain off the hook hahaha he realyl didnt pitch that well anyways He had the Joe Cowley-like no hitter going.
  19. The 2008 Tigers are looking a lot like the 2007 White Sox.
  20. I ran that foul ball homer Quentin hit on TIVO about 19 times and I swear that was fair, but since no one argued it must have been foul.
  21. Tie it up here and then let's have a battle of the bullpens.
  22. QUOTE(almagest @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 02:32 PM) And the Red Sox have done the same and have 2 World Series titles in the past 4 years. I'm also not sure how you can take one play in one game and cite that as decisive evidence. Think what you want. Strikeouts are not productive. Runners don't advance. Runs don't score. The defense is not pressured to make a play. If a guy like Fields could cut his strikeouts to 150 in a full season, that would be 50 more times he makes contact. I'm guessing some of those times those will be hits. Some of those times runners would advance on outs he made, and sometimes he would reach on an error. I know, I'm crazy.
  23. Fukudome looks like he's as good as was advertised.
  24. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 11:41 AM) Nothing like comparing situational at bats vs generic outs. Keep it up, proves exactly no point whatsoever. Some of the best hitters in the MLB are high strikeout guys, including this division. Sizemore, Granderson, Thome. There is a time for situational hitting and just plain hitting. When its not a situation where you need a grounder or a SAC fly (which doesnt count as an out to the hitter btw) a strikeout is the same as any other out. There are times when groundouts are worse, and times where flyouts are worse and of course k's too. Those are SITUATIONS and each has a positive and negative outcome depending on the out. But yeah, lets keep comparing the two, because its better to make no sense than not post at all. The quote was strikeouts are the same as any other out. I took any to mean any. Silly me. Also, while it doesn't as an AB, a SF is nonetheless an out unless I really haven't been paying attention and the rule was changed. BTW, did you see how the Astros got their go ahead run baserunner on base yesterday. A groundball "out" to second, bobbled for an error. Toronto tried to play the "fantasy baseball" style not caring about strikeouts or steals or hit and runs and failed miserably.
  25. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 10:34 AM) But better than a ground ball dp. Love apples and oranges!!! During a spring training game thread, you went out of your way to praise Fields for hitting a grounder to first that advanced a runner, and you were right. Now you think there is no difference between a strikeout and any other out?
