  1. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:57 PM) A BOMB. I saw Leifer hit one even farther off the Rocket in 2002.
  2. Well the Sox will be 1-4 against Boston and NYY with Contreras and Buerhle each getting 2 starts. I think this should end the "Detroit can't beat good teams" crap, because apparently the White Sox can't either. I think it also sets up ESPN as being all east coast all the time.
  3. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:47 PM) Dude's thrown 220+ innings over the last five seasons. But if he were hurt, he probably wouldn't be throwing as hard. Haven't seen today's game, but he didn't look like he's lost much velocity in his last two starts. I was reading a scouting report that said he's actually been throwing harder this year.
  4. Buerhle doesn't have his command, and there is a very fine line with him being great or terrible. His stuff isn't good enough to get out professional hitters if he can't spot it. When he's pinpoint, he's a stud.
  5. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) Buehrle just quit and let all of teammates down. I have never seen a pitcher who quits on his team after errors as much as Mark. This is the third straight start he just didn't care. Its incredible how much Buerhle becomes batting practice when the Sox commit a miscue in the field lately. I think there may be something wrong with him. He's struggled before, and snapped back, but I can't ever recall him getting hit as hard as he's been the last 3 or 4 starts.
  6. Buerhle has a shot to give up double digit runs for the second time this month. Nice job Mark.
  7. Take Buerhle out, and go get him an MRI.
  8. The White Sox look pathetic, and we know Buerhle has difficult times pitching over mistakes lately.
  9. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) Does anyone else think that Aquafina encourages binge drinking (with beer of course?) I think binge drinking gets a bad rap.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:32 PM) I know you've been saying we need to add another starter. While I admire your passion about doing this, it's very unlikely. Considering people in another thread were saying Garcia and Vazquez would be the best starters on the market, I think you're right. The only way the Sox improve the rotation is either their pitchers pitch better or they move McCarthy into it. The series in Detroit is going to be big for Detroit, huge for the Sox.
  11. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:20 PM) Yes. Curse this last place offense. You can't possibly think the offense is going to be able to keep their pace up do you? The pitching needs to step up, and it may be too much to ask. They are either tired or injured or both.
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) When does 2 runs = 5 or 7? Its 4 now, and we're in the 3rd inning.
  13. It may be time to start getting very concerned about Buerhle.
  14. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:12 PM) Thats a bulls*** call. Thats not a strike It was a lot better pitch to hit than a couple he swung at. It may have been outside a little bit.
  15. If you play the infield in the first inning with ARod up, why don't you bunt a man to 3rd with BA in the 3rd?
  16. I'm at the point right now where I think the Sox will need at least 6 or 7 runs to win just about any game.
  17. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) I can't see the game except for on Gameday, how's Mark looking? Not sharp. His control is off, although he should have gotten out of the first unscathed.
  18. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) If that's true, that's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Lefties have also historically struggled against Johnson. I'm sure Widger catching wasn't to give AJ a rest. He hadn't played since Sunday.
  19. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 12:49 PM) Odd that Jorge Posada can catch last nights game and todays game, but we have to insert a poor hitting Widger who is a terrible caller of pitches in because we need to rest our catcher. AJ hadn't played in nearly a week. I think Widger played because Johnson was on the mound and he took him deep last year.
  20. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) Let's say Pods is gone next year, who leads off? Owens? Please don't say Tad. Who cares on July 15,2006 who is leading off for the White Sox in 2007 if Pods is gone. Hopefully it will be someone who doesn't take a strike, then weakly attempt a bunt at strike 2 and then take a nasty strike 3 and goes and sits down.
  21. At least they are only down one. The Sox appear like they must have had a pretty good time after the game last night.
  22. For everyone who thinks Ozzie can do no wrong, why is he the genius when he makes moves and they work out, but its the player's fault when he makes moves and it doesn't work out? I actually would like to ask Hawk this.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 09:09 PM) Thought some of the posters in here would find this interesting....on the post game show on Comcast, they just reported the NY Daily News rumor about the Sox shopping Garcia or Vaz. With the way the Sox organization works, they wouldn't be having Comcast state this unless there was something to it. If you saw Ozzie talking to the media in NY, there is definitely something to it. He used one of those they are part of the White Sox organization right now lines.
  24. Cintron should bat for Uribe.
  25. Pods is on a roll with the bases loaded this year.
