  1. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) i love white sox fans! so if you are the 3rd guest at a party and you are second guessed, then officially you become: a second guessed third guest...hmmmm Yes.
  2. QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) What did Crede do? k
  3. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) Awful execution by JD He gave it a couple of shots. At least there was a solid effort there and not half-assed.
  4. Konerko hasn't exactly excelled in these situations this season.
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) It depends on what happens afterwards. You can't assume the guy was going to be out, so if the guy after him hits a HR, the run is earned because he would have scored anyway. Exactly. There's no conspiracy to raise Buerhle's ERA.
  6. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) Yeah, how can you charge 3 errors but no unearned runs? You have to take in to account if the runs would have scored anyway without the errors. The only questionable one was Uribe's on the throw home. That was scored a fielder's choice meaning the run would have scored without the bad throw and the guy still would have reach first. The other errors were overthrows IIRC and those runs would have eventually scored anyways.
  7. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) If it wasn't for his back problems, he'd have some great numbers by now. Back when the Sox acquired Brook Fordyce they almost traded for Sweeney as a catcher instead. KC wanted more than the Sox wanted to give them. It turns out he was horrible defensively but became a great offensive player.
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) Ya, he just got up and never came back. Brooks came down and was talking to him for a while that night. The former Gov. Jim Thompson was sitting in the first row of that section as well.
  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) Against the dbacks in mid june he was at the cell and I sat right next to him. Of course I didn't have the guts to say anything to him. Now that's a guy I would love to talk baseball with. Really? I was across the aisle 2 rows back of in him, his black cowboy boots and his buddies. It was the El Duque gets lit up game. He only stayed about 4 innings.
  10. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) Jermaine Dye has grounded into 12 DP's .. The MOST of any Sox hitter. I could have swore it was PK with the way some people point that out all the time. Jermaine!!!!! YES! He was known as Double Play Dye to the fans of Oakland.
  11. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) Jon gets out of it, THAT A BOY JON!!!!!!!! Please don't use that a boy. During the Red Sox series I went Thurs. and Friday, there was a Red Sox fan 2 row behind me, that's all he said every pitch. At a boy Manny, at a boy big Papi, at a boy Billy.......I just got it out of my mind and now you have me reliving my torture.
  12. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) And that's as a whole! i cringe at what is as a LH alone Historically he's been a better hitter left-handed. This year has been the opposite.
  13. They couldn't face the Indians or the Twins the first round.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) Besides it was all Konerko's fault Konerko said Willie was the best at blowing games he ever played with.
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 10:38 AM) Another potential darkhorse in the Burnett derby is Atlanta, they just put Mike Hampton on the DL. I really can't see Florida trading Burnett to Atlanta, but stranger things have happened, I suppose. There's no doubt Florida leaking out info is trying to drive up Burnett's price. Conversely, it wouldn't surprise me KW's interest in Baez and Huff for the some of the same package he supposedly is offering for Burnett may also be a little bit of gamesmanship. It will be interesting how it all plays out, because there are going to be some deals made.
  16. Are any of the people who say trading Politte would be the dumbest thing to do the same people who were calling for his head last season?
  17. Is Politte signed beyond this season? Maybe the thinking is Jenks could take Politte's role. Politte has been awesome this season, I thought he should have been an All Star, however, I would not be surprised if he starts getting touched up soon. Also, maybe this is also tied into possibly acquiring Baez. Who knows other than KW. There are going to be a ton of rumors, some with some truth some with none, until trades are made or the deadline passes.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) The Brewers would be stupid to trade Overbay now. They'd be better off trading him in the offseason. With the very weak FA 1b crop coming up, there will be a lot of teams looking to upgrade at the position via trade. I read where the Brewers feel they could get major league players for Overbay if they wait until the offseason, but would probably only be able to get prospects if they traded him now. They apparently would rather have major league ready players rather than prospects.
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:55 PM) I disagree. Numerous trades have been nixed wit hTB because their GM, whose name escapes me, pushes the price of his guys too much/ Can some one confirm? Oberbay makes less than $500,000, and won't even be arbitration eligible until after next season. Milwaukee is going to want a boatload for someone his age, with his numbers, and his contract situation.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) Jim, I've been wondering all night if maybe Iguchi is banged up. For all of us, like myself, b****ing about him not playing.....I'll be happy if there's no serious injury involved. We can handle one stupid loss...but losing Iguchi for any extended amount of time would be bad. We do need a back-up 3b though. Its also apparent Harris isn't the answer as a back up at second.
  21. My brother lives in Switzerland, and tomorrow's game will be shown there on their ESPN. I know the White Sox national broadcast record leaves a lot to be desired. How about their international broadcast record?
  22. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) And if this was Garcia the A team would of been starting I don't doubt this. I wonder, has Freddy pitched with the crappy line-up this year?
  23. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:24 PM) I don't think he's defending his play. I'm certainly not. He's been awful this year. But Sox fans tend to come up with a scapegoat for every game, rather than a team failing. Harris was awful tonight, but he's not the only one... Up until last inning, the reason the White Sox were not winning was Willie Harris.
