  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) I couldn't agree more about him accepting what he got. I'll remember Uribe's incredible defense in Game 4 a hell of a lot longer than I will remember whether or not any of them won the Gold Glove. One thing I'll give Rowand a lot of credit for this year is he picked his leadership ability up. You can tell he's one of the guys that a lot of other players look up to. None of the guys who are getting Silver Sluggers or Gold Gloves, or Cy Youngs or MVPs were in a parade last Friday. The 2 Uribe plays were incredible. Back to back almost perfectly opposite of each other. I really wonder what other SS could make both those plays. A few could make the one in the stands, but who really has the arm strength to make that final out?
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) Yes, his arm was awful this year compared to how he was throwing the previous few seasons. Rowand seemed to struggle getting enough air on his throws home this season, and they ended up getting slowed down far too often by the infield grass. I just remember Rowand's arm being a lot stronger/accurate in previous seasons. Like I said, there's no comparison between his arm and that of guys like Kotsay, Ichiro, Hunter, etc. You're right about his throws. He did have a streak of a couple weeks where he was throwing great, and of course had that streak of unbelievable plays around the time they were in NY this year, but most of the year he was hunting rattlesnakes with his throws, which indicates he was really overthrowing, something he seemed to be doing with his swing as well at times. He had a great year catching the ball defensively, but its understandable how he didn't win the GG. I think he'll take what he got.
  3. It probably wouldn't be until Spring if it happens.
  4. The White Sox got the only award that matters. They all got to hoist it up over their heads in front of millions of people in person and on television last Friday afternoon. Gold gloves while nice mean nothing. Didn't Palmiero win one a few years ago when he was primarily a DH? Its a popularity contest. The White Sox are World Champions. Who cares about anything else?
  5. KW's other dilema is he has to find a spot for Brian Anderson to play. He more than likely isn't going or want to send him back to Charlotte, that would be counterproductive, and he won't want him wasting away on the bench. I really think Rowand could be the odd man out here. I really think the Sox need some LH hitting, that's why I mentioned Giles. Maybe Griffey would be revisited. If Everett and Thomas were gone, you could have room for Griffey or Giles and Konerko with the OFs rotating playing DH.
  6. Let them both go and get Brian Giles. Frank, if he plays again, and that is still not anywhere near a sure thing, can only be expected to get hurt again. Let these guys go, sign Giles and Konerko, make a few adjustments to the bullpen, and defend the title.
  7. If boosters were paying football recruits, what must the Illini baskeball team's payroll be? No wonder Dee Brown didn't go pro.
  8. 10 minutes would probably mean you would have to run. I would guess its about a 15 minute walk and I walk pretty fast.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) The question I'm still waiting to be answered would be: What's the rule about players being allowed to advance if Uribe would have ended up completely in the crowd? I can't recall if it's one or two bases. I remember Carlos Pena having that happen to him a few years ago vs the Sox. I'm pretty sure its 2 bases. I think its the base you're going to plus one when the ball is pitched in that situation.
  10. Ozzie is not happy with Rowand playing so deep.
  11. Jenks is coming in. Personally, I would have stayed with Cotts. Blow them away Bobby.
  12. Could you imagine how good this team would be if they could recognize sliders in the dirt and lay off them?
  13. Aaron is a horrible bunter. Now you just put him in the hole.
  14. They said earlier Jenks was only available for a batter or 2.
  15. How about an insurance run or 5.
  16. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) I just s*** my pants!!!!! URIBE PLAY OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Konerko with a good pick.
  17. Its raining downtown. I'm sure the CPD wouldn't mind if the Sox won tonight.
  18. If Cotts gets out of this, they should leave him in for the ninth. I don't want to see Pablo Ozuna on the hill in extra innings.
  19. QUOTE(SS Gload @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) those were strikes for backe. Only because Sox batters were swinging at them.
  20. Cliff is not sharp. I would seriously consider Vizcaino right now.
  21. Here's that man again.
  22. Put one on the board Paulie and set up the parade.
  23. That was impressive by Harris
