Dye made a great catch, but he's hurt.

What is Ozuna's range factor at 3b? It seems they hit every infield groundball to him everytime he's over there.

I hate bringing the infield in. Play them halfway, they can still throw him out at the plate.

Remember when the Sox used to get the job done?

They always seem to find Pablo at third.

When and if the Sox get another baserunner, I would just like to see someone advance him one base. That would be progress.

Maybe the players should vote to forfeit the games they have to face Santana. They look like they have no chance.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) f***ing Alex Gonzalez. Alex Gonzalez contributed to one of the greatest collapses in history in 2003. Cut him a little slack.

QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 07:10 PM) Trever Miller in for Tampa in the 7th with 2 out and the tying runs in scoring position for Cleveland. This is the guy who was brought in yesterday to start the 7 run 7th. I believe the White Sox also lit him up, back when they used to score runs.

The Sox have only scored in 1 of their last 29 innings.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) Did you have anybody in mind? The addition we did make might dispute that idea, but I'm wondering if you had somebody in mind. I just think he's doing his job and exploring as many avenues as possible. Guys were traded that could have helped this team. KW is looking for the home run or nothing. Nothing would be a disaster.

Rowand has a very long swing right now, especially for him. His swing last year was as compact as I have ever seen.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 06:59 PM) for what it's worth, Kong is swinging the bat AWESOME right now Unfortunately it has been worth nothing lately, except for his blast against the Big Unit.

Stewart made the play, but it looked pretty routine for a good outfielder.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 06:53 PM) Willie's a team player, when the other players are going for the home run, Willie's thinking base hit or sacrafice. Unfortunately he isn't good at sacrificing or getting base hits.

KW has a week to get another hitter. If he really wants a WS, he has to get at least one.

When Pablo plays third, doesn't there seem to be an unusual amount of balls hit his way?

Freddy better pitch a shutout tonight.

Dear Hawk,
I love Hawk and his homerism and all his cliches. But his sometimes towing the company line bothers me. The "where would he play" crap was assinine. And some will call me crazy about this but I really think his constant complaining about the umpiring hurts the White Sox. I'm quite sure umpires know he's been pretty critical this year, and if you have noticed, the Sox rarely have a close call go their way. I think his moaning may have something to do with it.

Today is the day--8/21/05 Game Thread
The Royals beat Zito, so maybe the Sox could score 4 or 5 against the Big Unit. BTW, Tim Raines gave Randy Johnson the name Big Unit. I would be afraid to ask why.

Ross Gload
Ross Gload is a career minor leaguer and a major league back up at best. He has been through a few organizations. He had a hot September when nothing mattered last year. Might he have helped had he been on the roster recently? Sure he might have, because frankly the offense couldn't be any worse. But if you are pinning your hopes on an improved and adequate White Sox offense with the addition of Ross Gload, lets just say the Sox have to do better than Ross Gload. He's no better than what's here.

Remember the good old days?
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) The scary thing is one more week like this, and the lead will be like 4 or 5. What is disturbing is that we don't look close to breaking out of this, and the slump seemingly is getting worse. Thankfully, I have all the faith in the world that Ozzie and KW will recognize our problems, and do something to fix them. I wonder how much longer the losing will go on until Hawk will realize Ozzie really doesn't "have something up his sleeve".

What this team needs
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) No, but his imminent return will give the organization, people on this board, and Hawk a reason to feel good about standing pat for the waiver deadline. Yes, I am already prepared for the "if you look at it, we added Scott Podsednik at the deadline" speech come September 1. There is no guarantee that he will be 100% healthy, and last Sept. with MIL, he stole 18 bases, but hit .228. I am also concerned about the continuing back problems the Sox seem to be having. I wonder if its just coincidence a lot of these guys are having problems with their backs, or if there is a flaw in the training program.
