I think if Kimbrel was traded to a different team at the deadline, became a set up guy, and performed the exact same as he did for the White Sox, if Liam Hendriks Tarot card reader told him he needed to give up pitching and become a pro surfer, there would be no one here thinking acquing Kimbrel, paying him $16 million and giving up a good player would make any sense.

As bad as Cesar was for the Sox, and he was pretty awful, his career would indicate he probably would be worth $6 million next year. Will be interesting to see if they go really expensive or try to get by on the cheap at 2B.
-
Law mentioned that his stuff and command have taken a step back. I just don’t see a team giving up something valuable for the right to pay him $16 million in 2022. I was never against the Sox getting him. I didn’t like what they gave up, but other than injury, this trade pretty much turned into worst case scenario. I guess it is possible they would rather trade him for someone who will never get past A ball than pay him another $2 million.

I do think the Sox job is Jason’s dream job, but if he wants more exposure, now would probably be the time to do it. I would think in a few years he will get sick of the extra traveling and preparation. Now he is just living the dream with the Sox and all his other assignments, but I’m guessing in 5 or 10 years, calling Sox games will be plenty for him.

Sox could use a left handed hitting RF. A probable HOFer in his prime would have been nice.

To me, the answer is simple. Rodon gets a QO if his late season injury was just fatigue. If it was a legit shoulder concern, thanks for 2021 you were outstanding, but if you want to come back, getting really rich will require hitting on incentives.

Most superstar contracts will look bad the last couple of years. That is the tax you pay. If you aren’t willing to pay it, you don’t sign the premium guys. The story with when they signed Carlton Fisk was Roland Hemond figured he had 3 years left, but they had to give him 4 or 5 to get him to sign. They were willing to do that, and that one actually worked way better than hoped. BTW, Keith Law is out with his best free agent list, and says he might give Kimbrel 1 year $10 million to get the magic back. I don’t think he would be that far off on MLB front office thinking. If the Sox pick up the option to trade him, they are going to be dissatisfied with the offers.

Bryce Bush allegedly retired.

Same with murder and attempted murder.

2 of the 4 highest paid Bears offensive players are Foles and Graham. Ithink you can blame both Pace and Nagy for that. And for some reason, they forgot they have Robinson on the roster.

After taxes and his people take their cut, I would imagine he doesn't have another 87 to spend. Plus if he spends that on 1 car, I would think he spends a ton of other things. And I would think the White Sox can't be too thrilled. Guys don't usually spend 1 million on a Lambo to go 45 in a 35, and if you have ever driven in Soutb Florida with all the older drivers, it can be a little hairy just driving normally.
-
TMZ reports Luis Robert has tricked out his $1 million Lambo with a $10k glow in the dark wrap. I'm guessing he is going to need a financial advisor.

If the Sox were stupid enough to trade Vaughn, you know Larussa would compound the mistake and Albert Pujols would be batting clean up for the White Sox

MLB isn’t going to be able to stop the chop, but they should come out against it. I am sure when it was started and even today, it was not intended to be offensive, let alone racist. But it is to Native Americans, so stop it. It’s not unlike the Chief in Champaign, I hate the Illini, but I never thought the Chief was offensive, but apparently it was, so the school did the right thing and retired him. They also recently retired something the band used to play at least 20 times a game that was Indian themed.

Didnt Beckham write Getz is gay in the infield once around that time?
-
All the guys were basically kids. If we cancel everyone who has used gay as a derogatory thing at any point in their life, we would probably not interact with anyone. I think they probably had a hard time wrapping their heads around a big guy like Beach being sexually assaulted by Aldrich, who seems like a really little guy. Players are macho and naïve. If it happened at this stage of their lives, there is reason to criticize. But the adults in the room are the ones to blame IMO. I think there are things we all have done or have acted at age 20 or 21 where if it happened again, we wouldn't act the same..' One thing I would criticize a guy like Toews for is if he is lying now about what he knew and when he knew it. The great Coach Q got caught in a lie, and will never live it down.

Padres say they might not have a manager in place by the GM meetings 11/8. That must mean either Ozzie didn't wow them or he isn't interested. It would be interesting to see what Ozzie would say when Preller handed him a line up. Article complaining about Preller. Complaints seem familiar. He has missed on his last two managers. He has made Padres fans go through another rebuild after failing an attempt to build a winner with a bunch of splashy additions in 2015. He then failed to upgrade the rotation at this year’s trade deadline when it was obvious it needed help.

Trashing players on their way out the door was the White Sox way for a long time. I thought they got away from that for a while. I guess maybe it's back. Stone seems like he likes to trash players, especially on Twitter, and then go the opposite on telecasts. He's trashed Grandal a lot, but on most telecasts in the second half this year, he spoke about him like he was a first ballot HOFer. He also trashed Moncada on Twitter, but raves about him on TV. Eloy also, to some extent.
-
Did Stone really say that? Considering he himself is a little guy who admittedly didn't really know what he was doing until he was in his 30s, it seems kind of weird he would label a 23 or 24 year old after about half a season in the big leagues.

Beach feels relief and vindication. A report paid for by Rocky does admittedly leave some questions, and some strange circumstances, but if it makes the victim feel better, there is some good in it.
-
I get that, and you are right something like sexual assault you probably take as far up the flagpole as you can, but McCub was the guy. Chances are no matter what Bowman does short of leaking it to the press, it gets quashed, and then McCain probably does to Stan's career Aldrich threatened for Beachs. And he had only heard one side. There was a chance it didn't go down as he heard. There were 3 people initially in the room the night this occurred, and they have 3 different versions about how things went. Throw the offenders out now for sure. there is no question he was lying. But the woman and Beachs stories are a bit different. Of course it's 11 years .
-
I am glad Stan is gone, but the reality for me is if this thing is the real reason, and he is being honest, he got screwed. Obviously he had been around a while, but he was a 1st year GM, and McCub told him he would take care of it. I don’t think many would have gone back to McCub later for an update, and to follow up on his following up. It could have been a career killer. As a manager, I get trained on this stuff yearly, and if I get a report, I am supposed to go to HR or my boss. If my boss told me they would handle it, I don’t really think up until this , I would have followed up, especially seeing a month later the guy is gone. It should have been right away. There should have been a trail so he couldn’t do it again, which he did to a minor. But to me, Stan was a naive middle manager who got burned by his old boss. He will learn from this. I know I have. It’s too bad someome had to be a victim. I hope some day he can somehow move on from it and lead a happy life.

It is amazing it's the first time Lavine has been on an NBA team that has won 4 in a row.

The thing I don't understand is how they concluded doing nothing initially was the right move for the Blackhawks. . You don't have to publicly fire him. Quietly tell him to stay home and then let him go. Report him to the authorities. McCub is a scumbag.
