MLB 2021-2 off season thread
I think he winds up back with the Dodgers, but he has to look at the Sox if they are in on him and think with his addition it's a team that should dominate.

I dontthink that should be much of an issue if the money is right. It's not like he has to move to Chicago permanently, and MLB players always rank Chicago their favorite. Plus, the Sox train in AZ. Scherzer would be a franchise altering signing.

2022 Offseason Plan Thread
The problem with him was he was reverting back to his previous form late in the season. But maybe an offseason and spring get him back. He is talented .

Adam Frazier traded to Mariners
I will slice and dice for you. First the guy has had a HOF career. At the time of the trade this season he had pitched 36.2 innings. He gave up 13 hits and struck out 64, and had an ERA of 0.49. While I would say that is a pace that would be almost impossible to maintain, he certainly was the most dominant reliever in the game. To expect that to suddenly become a below average set up man is giving yourself or whomever way too much credit. But on message boards bei g wrong is easily forgotten or answered with a glad I was wrong, not the mess Hahn has. I loved trading for Kimbrel. I just hated Madrigal was included because I think he is pretty good. Same career OPS+ as Semien. And his low salary was beneficial to the rest of the roster. Replacing him will cost the White Sox big money they did not have to spend.

MLB 2021-2 off season thread
I think the period now is for teams to try to convince the public and players they are operating in good faith. maybe throw their fanbases a bone before all talk goes to labor., And for the middle class and lower free agents to lock something in before the great unknown, as they are usually the ones ultimately squeezed by a new CBA.

Sox to talk about Semien with Boras
Semien will be 31 and he has only had 2 seasons where he was a better than average offensive player. Of course both of them were way better than average. I would be careful with ho.. it seems like his eventual price tag may be a bit more than he will be worth.

Robbie Ray to the Mariners, 5 years $115 million
I’m sure the physical will be all teams need.

Where could Kimbrel be traded, and for what?
He was playing in one of the winter leagues, and now has a back issue. I doubt the Mets could have traded him without eating most of his money anyway, but now they might as well just hold on to him and see what happens in spring training.

They couldn't have fired him even if they lost today based on what they said to players and select media members after it was leaked Nagy was going away.. What would be funny is if Nagy or his agent leaked it.

Pat Fizgerald's offense makes the Bears current offense appear modern. You know the Bears would be interested.

2022 Offseason Plan Thread
One thing Schwarber does well defensively is throw, but the rest is pretty bad. The thing is, with Robert in CF fully healthy, I wouldn't be too worried about the range in the corners. They can cheat towards the lines and the Sox would be fine. What they need is someone who will make the plays when the ball is hit their way, and being able to throw would be a big plus.

I agree. If they now fire him after the game, making him go through all that was more than unprofessional, it was cruel. Someone leaked it. Once it was out, they had to fire him immediately or give him an extension and say the story was BS.

2022 Offseason Plan Thread
Yes, let's look forward. This is a guy described as a Paul Goldschmidt type, Paul Konerko on steroids, making very little money with a ton of control. Looking forward, a guy like this is exactly what the team needs even if JR breaks the bank, because even if he does have a huge payroll, eventually that means luxury tax. That his something JR didn't want to pay even when he was printing money with the Bulls. Vaughn is a keeper. The Sox will rue the day they let him go unless a team overpays.

Where could Kimbrel be traded, and for what?
I think he has the latest edition of the Baseball Encyclopedia memorized. He definitely knows a lot of names. If he ever wrote a tell all involving seedy characters, he probably would have to go into witness protection.

Where could Kimbrel be traded, and for what?
If Caulfield ever writes a book, he will definitely name names. It might be all that he does, but he will at least do that.

It's funny, they are all over this, but had nothing on Graveman.

2021 NFL Season Thread
If they fire him in season, it probably means Pace stays. They have to blame the coach. Now Pace and the rest of the Bears brass can fool themselves into thinking the problem isn't talent level, it's coaching. Nagy is a nice start, but if Pace is still around, it will be more of the same, unless he totally lucks out and brings in a guy who turns into a HOF level coach.

Kendall Graveman agrees to deal w/Sox 3/$24
Yes he did, but so did Zach Duke. It could go either way, but man, $8 million a year for a 50 inning non closer is spending some cash. I just hope it doesn't cause them to try to be more "economical" with other needs.
-
Would you rather trade Eloy or Vaughn?
Not many players lefty or righty hit the top pitchers. That is kind of why they are the top pitchers.

Sox to talk about Semien with Boras
That's his job. If everyone doing your job or my job, if you don't work for yourself, had an agent, we would all be making a lot more money.

Mark Konkol is a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist , so i think he was told was he claimed by a really reliable source. i don't know why, if you have made the decision, you keep him on the sideline another day. I also got a chuckle out of the "fire Nagy" chant at the Bulls game last night, although, the same chant at his son's HS football game was just wrong.

Wander Franco 12 year extension?
What a pathetic list. JR should be embarrassed.

2022 Offseason Plan Thread
Because the trade didn't happen. That's the not Cishek logic. He was bragging about his insiderness stating the exact same thing. He brought back an old tweet. The problem was he gave 2 choices, that supposed trade that didn't happen, and signing Cahill. That, thankfully, didn't happen either.

2022 Offseason Plan Thread
Definitely could turn out better, but Moncada was the #1 or #2 prospect in baseball, and Kopech wasn't too shabby. Both were probably thought of at the time a little more than the other two..

2022 Offseason Plan Thread
Either might have said the Sox were targeting him, but the trade package was made up. If the Sox wanted him, they could have got him, but the cost would have been ridiculous. Hence, no trade was made.
