One thing teams really like about Boras when they sign huge contracts, is he really pushes his guys to be in shape.
-
If his injury was fatigue, it's a no brainer to offer it to him. If it's something else, it's a no brainer to pass.

Purdue football twitter with the tweet of the year. Said Purdue beat the #2 out of Iowa.

What to do with the abreu/vaughn/sheets/burger logjam in 2022?

What the Astros took advantage of were walks and HBP. -

BS. What was the Sox record vs. good teams when they won the WS? -

Yet they won 93 games. -

Another fascinating thing here is how many on one hand think RH would be a very attractive candidate for a promotion for some MLB team not named the White Sox, yet think almost every high draft choice he made or big time prospect he acquired needs to be traded. -

You let Hernandez and Kimbrel go. That frees up some cash. The roster is pretty well set. I am crazy, I still this Eloy is a 40 Homer guy who brings a lot of energy and fun to the team. I still think Vaughn is what one scout described as Paul Konerko on steroids. I still think the best is yet to come from Yoan Moncada. I still think Luis Robert as great as he was wasn't 100 % healthy. I still think TA will be hungrier. I still think Dylan Cease will be a stud. I still think Giolito will be one of the better pitchers in baseball. I still think Lance Lynn will be Lance Lynn. I still think we are going to love Kopech. I still think Liam Hendriks is the best closer in baseball. Get everyone healthy, find a new 2B and perhaps RF, but I am fine putting Vaughn or Sheets out there and bringing in Engel late, spend the Kimbrel money on another pitcher or two, maybe trade Collins. Get a veteran back up who calls a good game. They are fairly cheap. I am not historically optimistic, but despite the playoff result, this team is pretty stacked. Some of the guys should get way better, and there are not a lot of candidates to fall off a cliff. Also make everyone take pilates classes for their hammys. -

It is funny how many complaints about lack of depth the Sox supposedly had throughout the season when there was a tough stretch with guys banged up. But immediately after the season ends its time to rid the team of any depth it has. -

It would depend on what was offered in return. These logjams usually have a way of working themselves out either by injury or performance. I do expect Eloy and Vaughn to be more productive next year. Sheets really surprised me. There was a point where it seemed the league had figured him out, but apparently he adjusted. Abreu doesn’t have a lot of years left. Burger is a great story and looks to me like he is going to hit, but is probably on misstep from being done. -
Nitengale: La Russa "definitely" returning to the Sox

I agree. I understand tanking, but it really sucks. It would be a lot better if everyone was trying to win every year. Tanking has always been around, it's just that there are a lot more tankers now than ever before. -
I ordered from Grubhub, app said it was delivered. Went down to my lobby, no food. I call Grubhub, food isn't here. Grubhub says sorry, we will issue a refund. You should see it in 5-7 days. WTF? You can't call the driver and ask where he dropped off the food? You can't resend the order? No. Once driver hits delivered button, nothing can be done. I asked the same thing, you can take my money and tip instantly, why can't you refund instantly? No response.

You can't keep doing it unless you want to start a rebuild by 2024. It can be done up to a point. The White Sox aren't ever going to flirt with a luxury tax, so their point comes way before some other teams.
-
I think I read to expect it to take 4-6 weeks. I just had mine applied to my season tickets for next year. Now I only owe a little more than $50.

Forget about the White Sox trading Vaughn, Crochet, Kopech....they make no money. These are guys that must be kept around or you are going to have a huge problem really quickly. The Cubs had the problem, and the Sox aren't close to them financially. It's another reason why trading Madrigal really stings. He's easy to replace if you blow up your payroll.
-
There is no way they are picking up that option. I have liked Cesar, but his time with the Sox, after a pretty nice start, was godawful.
-
I don't know why so many want to mess with Hendriks. He's the best closer in the league. Leave him there. Let him pitch mulitple innings if the schedula allows. Why mess with it? Let Kimbrel go. I am not a Kimbrel hater, but it wasn't working the 8th inning that screwed him up. I was at a game vs. Boston where he got the 9th and blew the save. Leury bailed him out later.

Where? The Mets? The Mets are New York’s White Sox, except they have a shitload of bad contracts. -

I bet if you asked at the same point last year, Rick Renteria would have been in the same boat. -
$18.25 million for a 3.7 WAR in 93 games is pretty damn nice. If that is aging, I will take it.
-
His lack of pitching recently probably hurt his command and his slider wasn't sharp. He wasn't awful, but the walks and HBP killed him, just like it did every White Sox pitcher in the series. Hopefully what was holding him back was just fatigue. Even if the White Sox don't re-sign him, I hope he can have a productive career. He definitely has unreal stuff when he's at full capacity.

Rick Hahn 2021 End of Season Press Conference
Dick Allen replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Exactly. And why would they fire him? They didn't fire him from 2013 until the rebuild. Now, KW is a guy I can see moving on, whether it be in baseball or just kicking back and living life. His wife quit as an anchor on the NBC local morning news. -

Is there a catcher alive that would actually throw runners out the way the White Sox pitchers let them get jumps?
