  1. Since for years they were one of the healthiest teams, he must have become real dumb. It is amazing one bad covid year gets this guy fired by guys , who if they held themselves to the same standards, would have been done in baseball years ago.
  2. I don't think there is much hindsight there. He was always dynamic, a 26 year old free agent. If there ever was a time to do something crazy, that was it.
  3. If a team was willing to trade for Kimbrel they could do it today.
  4. Why pick up someone else's junk? Yerevan are guys on that list if the White Dox really wanted yhey could pick up for basically nothing and the other team may be willing to throw in some money. Why risk it with Kimbrel? He might get injured before they could trade him. You aren't getting additional value. Free up the money, admit it didn't work out and try again. People who trade for a living and are successful, make a lot of bad trades but are disciplined enough to be able to admit they are wrong and get out of the bad ones and ride the good ones. The amateurs if they are crunched and have a winning position and losing position and have to get out of 1 will almost always get out of the winner because they want to be right. In the end, they wind up out of the lower as well with even a bigger loss.
  5. Yes he will, although others also confirmed. It wouldn't surprise me if Kimbrel was the reason this was delayed. Maybe they wanted a trade done right away.
  6. Despite all the reports, I fully expe t Hahn to announce Kimbrels option was declined today.
  7. If Kimbrels agent is about to become a GM, that would be helpful.
  8. It was for far less money, and a far less profiled player, but that is exactly what the Sox did when they gave Viciedo some money. They leaked how he was drawing strong trade interest. Yet no trade.
  9. It is different, and you did make a good point. Deals get nixed by ownership after basically being done deals often. It isn't worth the risk to me unless you are willing and prepared to have him on the roster, which to me means having a payroll at least $16 million higher than you were budgeting.
  10. I think if Kimbrel was traded to a different team at the deadline, became a set up guy, and performed the exact same as he did for the White Sox, if Liam Hendriks Tarot card reader told him he needed to give up pitching and become a pro surfer, there would be no one here thinking acquing Kimbrel, paying him $16 million and giving up a good player would make any sense.
  11. As bad as Cesar was for the Sox, and he was pretty awful, his career would indicate he probably would be worth $6 million next year. Will be interesting to see if they go really expensive or try to get by on the cheap at 2B.
  12. Law mentioned that his stuff and command have taken a step back. I just don’t see a team giving up something valuable for the right to pay him $16 million in 2022. I was never against the Sox getting him. I didn’t like what they gave up, but other than injury, this trade pretty much turned into worst case scenario. I guess it is possible they would rather trade him for someone who will never get past A ball than pay him another $2 million.
  13. I do think the Sox job is Jason’s dream job, but if he wants more exposure, now would probably be the time to do it. I would think in a few years he will get sick of the extra traveling and preparation. Now he is just living the dream with the Sox and all his other assignments, but I’m guessing in 5 or 10 years, calling Sox games will be plenty for him.
  14. Sox could use a left handed hitting RF. A probable HOFer in his prime would have been nice.
  15. To me, the answer is simple. Rodon gets a QO if his late season injury was just fatigue. If it was a legit shoulder concern, thanks for 2021 you were outstanding, but if you want to come back, getting really rich will require hitting on incentives.
  16. Most superstar contracts will look bad the last couple of years. That is the tax you pay. If you aren’t willing to pay it, you don’t sign the premium guys. The story with when they signed Carlton Fisk was Roland Hemond figured he had 3 years left, but they had to give him 4 or 5 to get him to sign. They were willing to do that, and that one actually worked way better than hoped. BTW, Keith Law is out with his best free agent list, and says he might give Kimbrel 1 year $10 million to get the magic back. I don’t think he would be that far off on MLB front office thinking. If the Sox pick up the option to trade him, they are going to be dissatisfied with the offers.
  17. Bryce Bush allegedly retired.
  18. Same with murder and attempted murder.
  19. 2 of the 4 highest paid Bears offensive players are Foles and Graham. Ithink you can blame both Pace and Nagy for that. And for some reason, they forgot they have Robinson on the roster.
  20. After taxes and his people take their cut, I would imagine he doesn't have another 87 to spend. Plus if he spends that on 1 car, I would think he spends a ton of other things. And I would think the White Sox can't be too thrilled. Guys don't usually spend 1 million on a Lambo to go 45 in a 35, and if you have ever driven in Soutb Florida with all the older drivers, it can be a little hairy just driving normally.
  21. TMZ reports Luis Robert has tricked out his $1 million Lambo with a $10k glow in the dark wrap. I'm guessing he is going to need a financial advisor.
  22. If the Sox were stupid enough to trade Vaughn, you know Larussa would compound the mistake and Albert Pujols would be batting clean up for the White Sox
  23. MLB isn’t going to be able to stop the chop, but they should come out against it. I am sure when it was started and even today, it was not intended to be offensive, let alone racist. But it is to Native Americans, so stop it. It’s not unlike the Chief in Champaign, I hate the Illini, but I never thought the Chief was offensive, but apparently it was, so the school did the right thing and retired him. They also recently retired something the band used to play at least 20 times a game that was Indian themed.
  24. Didnt Beckham write Getz is gay in the infield once around that time?
  25. All the guys were basically kids. If we cancel everyone who has used gay as a derogatory thing at any point in their life, we would probably not interact with anyone. I think they probably had a hard time wrapping their heads around a big guy like Beach being sexually assaulted by Aldrich, who seems like a really little guy. Players are macho and naïve. If it happened at this stage of their lives, there is reason to criticize. But the adults in the room are the ones to blame IMO. I think there are things we all have done or have acted at age 20 or 21 where if it happened again, we wouldn't act the same..' One thing I would criticize a guy like Toews for is if he is lying now about what he knew and when he knew it. The great Coach Q got caught in a lie, and will never live it down.
