What If All 162 Games Always Were Played At the Same Time
Dick Allen replied to YourWhatHurts's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You would need all domes. It’s pretty cool for the last day, but it wouldn’t change managerial decisions for 98% of the season. -
Considering Simmons hasn't reported to training camp, I would think the team is doing the logical thing. He will eventually get the money, probably minus some fines.
-
You had to figure when Wright departed with a 6-1 lead with 2 outs in the 9th, and a .186 right handed hitter up, his major league career is probably over.

I have defended Phil in the past, but his take was wrong on so many levels, it comes across to me as he is campaigning for JR to give him a job. Comparing pre pandemic and middle of the pandemic attendance when there were restrictions in place. Acting like JR wasn't banking cash during the rebuild, which the White Sox even admitted. And finally blowing off the funds they will make with some postseason home games. Just the 2 inthe ALDS is going to get them 8 figures. I won't even blame him for forgetting how many seasonticket packages they have sold the last month which will guarantee them a huge spike next year even if they were to suck.

Obviously Abreu getting hit is not intentional and Tony's bitching makes no sense, but if it makes one pitcher reluctant to throw in on him, it pays off. I would tell Abreu to wear an elbow pad for several hours every day until he gets used to it. It may save him some IL time down the road.

Before Kimbrel, It's still a league average payroll. Kudos to JR fot being average.

Harry Caray and Mike Ditka were always at their namesake restaurants. Neither had any money in it. Being there, supplying the name and mentioning the restaurant when on TV or the radio was their job for their cut. Restaurants run by people in the business who know what they are doing, usually fail. A restaurant with a ballplayer calling the shots has no chance.i really doubt Frank was making business decisions.
-
Probably very little chance Frank had any of his own money in his restaurant or Big Hurt Beer. He supplies the name and gets a percentage. It's generally how most of those work.

The regular Directv is actually really nice unless it rains.
-
He can't miss the ring ceremony.

With the Bears offensive line and scene, I wouldn't play Fields except for a roll out, QB run or screen pass the rest of this season or at least until the play caller and designer are changed. No use getting him hurt or developing bad habits. He needs to be the guy at some point, but not this year.

Luis Robert, closing in on one full season statistically

5.3 WAR in 120 career games. Considering the last month of last season he was pretty clueless at the plate, and probably still isn't 100% physically now,, it's pretty incredible. Looks like since he solved chasing low and away sliders, the league is perplexed. This guy might be Mike Trout with a better arm. -
Last night was the first time I saw beer vendors in the stands all season.
-
They get a roof, hich is probably a given,, they get Final 4s, Super Bowls, Big Ten championship games, and probably plenty more.
-
If they get a little entertainment district built around the place in Arlington Heights, they still will have people from the Northwest suburbs hanging there and spending money after the games, as well as people who take the metra.
-
Arlington Heights is a 75k population suburb. They aren't going to be able to give the Bears big breaks. Maybe the state will, but if they do it will be a long drawn out fight. I suspect Virginia eventually passes, and the team is sold to someone who can afford dropping big money into a stadium. Patrick Ryan owns just under 20% of the team. He just gifted Northwestern $480 million. Maybe it's him, but he is 83 years old, so who knows.
-
I agree. The Bears, as bad as they are, and the NFL, has outgrown Soldier Field just like the league has outgrown the mom an pop organization that is the Bears. And the city and state would be foolish to build them a stadium.
-
The Bears pay $6.5 million a year in rent.
-
I think they easily could attract 7 or 8 college football games a year. It's 10 events.
-
It won't happen. They would compete for events with the Bears new place and would be smaller, less modern and fewer amenities.
-
Yeah that too. They think, and probably correctly, it would hurt a city casino. New York Jets and Giants don't play in NY. Washington doesn't play in Washington. The Cowboys don't play in Dallas. The 49ers don't play in SF. The move sucks for ticketholders who live in the city and south, although NW side fans probably will have an easier time getting to Arlington heights.
-
They want bigger capacity, a retractable roof, more fan experience space, and would love an entertainment district closer. I read an article quoting some guy who has been involved with NFL stadium building the last 15 years or so. He said the only way Lightfoot could give the Bears what they want is to build a new stadium in the parking lot, or teardown McCormick Place East, which I guess is rarely used anymore, and build it there. Building the Bears a stadium makes little sense.
-
As a city resident, I just don't think there is the public money to do what the Bears want. It is 10 events the city will have to make up. A few college football games and a few extra concerts is much better than pulling out all stops and making the McCaskeys even richer.
-
Which is really no different from what they are doing with the Bears and Fire. Leasing lakefront facilities to private companies.
-
This doesn't close for over a year, plus even if the stadium is privately funded, they still will be seeking infrastructure improvements, and that political battle could take several years, plus these new NFL stadiums take 3 or 4 years to build. It wouldn't surprise me if the Bears played out their lease. In fact, if the McCaskeys don't sell after Virginia is gone, I would bet on it.
