I think they easily could attract 7 or 8 college football games a year. It's 10 events.
-
It won't happen. They would compete for events with the Bears new place and would be smaller, less modern and fewer amenities.
-
Yeah that too. They think, and probably correctly, it would hurt a city casino. New York Jets and Giants don't play in NY. Washington doesn't play in Washington. The Cowboys don't play in Dallas. The 49ers don't play in SF. The move sucks for ticketholders who live in the city and south, although NW side fans probably will have an easier time getting to Arlington heights.
-
They want bigger capacity, a retractable roof, more fan experience space, and would love an entertainment district closer. I read an article quoting some guy who has been involved with NFL stadium building the last 15 years or so. He said the only way Lightfoot could give the Bears what they want is to build a new stadium in the parking lot, or teardown McCormick Place East, which I guess is rarely used anymore, and build it there. Building the Bears a stadium makes little sense.
-
As a city resident, I just don't think there is the public money to do what the Bears want. It is 10 events the city will have to make up. A few college football games and a few extra concerts is much better than pulling out all stops and making the McCaskeys even richer.
-
Which is really no different from what they are doing with the Bears and Fire. Leasing lakefront facilities to private companies.
-
This doesn't close for over a year, plus even if the stadium is privately funded, they still will be seeking infrastructure improvements, and that political battle could take several years, plus these new NFL stadiums take 3 or 4 years to build. It wouldn't surprise me if the Bears played out their lease. In fact, if the McCaskeys don't sell after Virginia is gone, I would bet on it.
-
It's at least 5 or 6 years away from happening, and that is probably generous. It's probably to up their sale price. I think when Virginia goes, the team gets sold, and this purchase agreement raises the value of the team, and gives the new owner an option. I personally can't see the McCaskeys spending that much on a privately financed stadium, or they would have done it already cheaper.

City wouldn't sell lakefront land to a private company.

It's in Cook.

I am no fan of Lightfoot even though I voted for her, but she is in a can't win situation. Soldier Field can't be expanded very much. She can't give the Bears what they want there. Her only chance is to build them a new stadium, and that is not going to happen. I kind of like her strategy here. Call their bluff. If they really are serious about spending $2 billion on a stadium, let them go to Arlington Heights. It's pretty easy to get to on a Sunday morning, and has a dedicated Metra stop.

I was just in. There are definitely more available than the pre sale last week, but they are in the corners of the upper deck , corners of the lower deck, and obstructed by the fan deck in the OF, and some scattered singles. Most are singles. You may have better luck with 3 tickets than 2 as you cannot leave a single when buying on Ticketmaster. Bleachers and OF seats are $115. Lower corners are $105. Upper deck from $51-$61 from what I saw.

I would imagine from the pre-sale last week, you are looking at the top 2 rows in the last sections of the upper deck at best.I would guess they held seats back for new plans for the season tickethllder pre-sale last week. It probably just depends on how many of those held back get gobbled up today. I can't imagine there is going to be a scenario where you will be thrilled with what you get.
-
Yes, and individual game pre-sale today. Pickings will be slim.

Abreu used to hit far more in Cuba than he does here. Get an elbow guard.

Pure Garbage has made some nice blocks this inning.

The ripping of Nagy has gone national. Basically saying he is totally incompetent or purposely tried to make Fields look bad, which has to be untrue. But I wonder if the amount of outcrys, many not the usual suspects, makes it more probable Nagy loses the lockeroom.
-
That fact that calls for Nagys job are coming from many legit football sources and not just the typical disgruntled ex Bears or Bears fanboys, has to be really embarrassing for the franchise. Commentators with no ties to the Bears are legitimately appalled with Nagys ineptness
-
In the short term, no. But it finally shows your players and fans that accountability is coming and this is the beginning. They aren't going to the playoffs this season no matter who is coaching, but get the Nagy stench off them as soon as possible. Start making your GM list, and as soon as they are eliminated tell Ryan Pace you need him to turn in his Halas Hall key card. I would love if they gave Ted a golden parachute and told him to scram, but 2 out of 3 is better than 0 or 1. We know they can make the Super Bowl in spite of Phillips because they once did. But Nagy and Pace have had numerous chances and failed each time. They don't have a first round pick next year, the one they traded may even be higher than the pick they acquired.
-
The McCaskeys are forever indebted to Phillips because he delivered them a refurbished Soldier Field. But he shouldn't be making football decisions. I would imagine he is going nowhere at least until the Arlington Park thing and negotiations with the city for an enhanced Soldier Field are done. At least if you fire Nagy today, you get something different on the field next week.

I have no idea if Justin Fields will ever be a star. He is off the carts athletically but so is Mitch, so was Bobby Douglass, so was Vince Evans. But the Bears have to do the most they can do to hopefully allow that to happen. First, Nagy isn't going to get him there. I mentioned this before in Bears threads. My buddy is a football genius. He really is. Watching a game with him is so interesting. He told me near the end of Nagys first season when I think he was coach of the year and everyone was so happy the Bears finally had an offensive guru, that trouble was near. The league had caught up and Nagy had no answers. It has played out just like he said. And the guy who puts an offensive line together which features a 40 year old who would rather be sitting on his couch trying to block Garrett needs to go as well. That is Ryan Pace. It is no secret this duo has needed to go for a long time, and the Bears being the Bears will waste season after season until they have no other choice. I know the Bears will never win a playoff game with Matt Nagy as HC. I think the odds are stacked against them ever winning one with Pace as the GM. I

Not the only media calling for his head. https://www.espn.com/

So there were guys available that would have made the Sox 5 to 10 games better in the standings, and wouldn’t have cost much. Good to know, care to name names?
-
They really should play Foles until Dalton returns, if for nothing else but Fields health. Let him run a few plays like he did the first couple games. Ryan Pace is the only GM trying to win that could downgrade an offensive line with Leno and Massey the starting tackles.
