  1. Is there a catcher alive that would actually throw runners out the way the White Sox pitchers let them get jumps?
  2. You're right, Ozzie could never manage the White Sox again. But his opinions do have more weight than a guy like Our Chuck.
  3. I don't think Jr would let Marrioti in the ballmall.
  4. Abreu gets HBP at about half the rate he did in Cuba. Of course the majority of pitchers are better skilled, but pitching him in is obviously the book on him. I would insist he at least wear an elbow guard. Let's face it, numerous times a year he has been centimeters from being out for months. The HBP isn't going to go away, but I actually agree with Ozzie and Tony to a point. The Sox need to retaliate. If it makes one guy hesitant to go in on him, it pays off. Whether yesterday was intentional, I really don't know, but they did throw almost behind him. That is usually a giveaway. Someone mentioned the pitcher was looking into the Sox dugout just before the HBP. I don't think that proves anything, because the previous pitches were in, and I am sure the Sox dugout was chirping.
  5. Even in the less than 1% chance there is any truth to this,I think the Sox could get something better than Santander with the $15 million they would save just letting Kimbrel be a free agent. The one thing we as fans have going for us, is they won't be able to sell they are really close, even if they are closer than this series made it appear. They got whipped.
  6. That was the formula in 2005. They lost the season series to both Boston and LA that year. Different story in the playoffs. The problem is despite playing really well at the end of the season, the team played really poorly vs. Houston. The offense was great one game. The pitching was terrible all 4 games.
  7. One thing I hate is coming and going out of your seat. There is no etiquette. Especially with these 4 1/2 hour games. There is so much down time. Yet someone gets right in front of you to go to their seat, or go spend $100 on overrated food just as a pitch is being delivered.
  8. Tony would recommend Dave Stewart. He did a great job trashing the D Backs.
  9. I don't care how thin the market is, no one is going to give you something useful and pay Kimbrel $16 million after the way he finished the season. If there was a little regression from where he was with the Cubs, fine. But this was too much. Just admit your mistake, pay him the $1 million and move on. Spend the $15 million on something else. At the end, he wasn't even striking people out.
  10. Everyone is praising Tepera, but he missed a ton of time too.
  11. Steve Stone says guys suck then he says the same guys are awesome a few days later. He isn't going to rock the boat too much.
  12. Kimbrel could have been the guy the Sox thought they were getting, and the Sox still wouldn't have won this series. Their pitching was horrific. Their offense except for Sunday night, the same. Their defense, horrible. Maybe it wakes some people in the organization up and they realize that while they are the class of the AL Central, there is a lot of work to be done.
  13. But in those games he didn't play, he put up a 0.0 WAR. They replaced him with a much more expensive guy who put up a negative WAR. Madrigal outplayed him sitting on his couch. And the guy they traded him for was even more expensive, and he won't be a White Sox much longer. I get Madrigal has been hurt, but that doesn't mean he is going to miss half the season moving forward, because if that is exactly what it means, the Sox have a problem. They have a few guys in the same boat.
  14. Kimbrel won't have any problem finding a closer job. It just won't be for anything close to $16 million for 2022.
  15. The grade is an F. They did not get out of the first round. Tepera doesn't matter. Hernandez was bad enough his option will be declined. And Kimbrel was so bad his option will be declined. I never thought the Sox had any intention of keeping Kimbrel from the start, but they won't be able to flip him with a $16 million price tag. Hindsight isn't fair, but it's the only way to give an accurate grade. It turns out, the Sox didn't improve their team at the deadline. They only weakened their assets and spent some cash which will bite us all.
  16. Tony said if ownership wants him back and the players want him back, he'll be back. Unless you or I can come up with some funds that might interest JR, he will be back.
  17. Fitting that Cesar will be the last out this season.
  18. At least 95% of my season tickets for next season are paid with unused playoff tickets.
  19. 4 1/2 hour games the Sox were hardly in really suck.
  20. If they steal now I would get this guy out, walk Madonado and then drill Altuve.
  21. He's like Uncle Leo. He's tired and wants to go home.
  22. If they had the infield in and TA was playing up the middle and they hit it to the typical Ss position, everyone who botched about it before would be bitching about that.
