The Jarred Kelenic Appreciation Thread
Dick Allen replied to Harold's Leg Lift's topic in The Diamond Club
Probably the biggest reason this thread exists is because the Sox took Madrigal ahead of him, and Harold hates Madrigal. Kelenic is going to be a good player, but he isn't Mike Trout on steroids like Harold wants you to believe. -
Cease leaves game after comebacker hits pitching arm
Dick Allen replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Once Cease threw a couple of pitches and was able to put anything on it, I figured he would be OK. Taking him out, even if he thought he could continue was wise. See you at game 3 of the ALDS Dylan. -
Sox vs Guardians 9/24 game thread 6:10 first pitch
Dick Allen replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2021 Season in Review
Except for the long balls, Hendriks has been unreal this season, He is going to wind up with more than 100 strikeouts than walks for a closer. -
It was for strips for all games.

Zimmer is a dumb baserunner. -
Williams developing into a star is really the one hope the Bulls have of competing for a championship any time soon. This injury is a shame. Hopefully it won't hinder him during the season, and he will be able to take the next step.

The white out games at Penn State are still pretty impressive. Blackouts for playoff games will be a nice sight.
-
They had a pre sale for season ticketholders. From what's left, you are going to need a telescope, and a walkie talkie to speak with anyone you go with, because it's mostly singles.
-
It’s a White Sox playoff game, and the ALDS is not that expensive of a ticket. About the same as a Sox vs. Cubs.

Close enough for Danny to whine.

Just stay home, and whine on Soxtalk. But the Bears aren’t home that day.

9-22-2021 White Sox @ Detroit 12:10 PM Postponed
Dick Allen replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in 2021 Season in Review
I agree. If the Sox win one in Cleveland, I don't think Monday's game will be played. -
Even though he was a total ass to reporters who were asking about his health, I feel real bad for Rodon. He has cost himself a lot of dough. If he really believes in himself, signing for 1 year, and being healthy next season could make him a lot of money in the long run, but I wouldn't want to bet on it. He gave far more than anyone could have hoped this season. And the money he lost, no one thought he would have been able to find 6 months ago.

These games have sucked and been pretty boring. But all that really matters is they have put themselves in a position where it doesn’t matter, and what happens staring October 7th is all that counts. Crying about these games is like crying about spring training games. Sure, you would like to win, but it doesn’t really matter. Maybe it will be like 2005 and they go on a little hot streak to end the season and stay hot when it matters.

The problem is Soxtalk thought legit answers were Jason Heyward or Kole Calhoun.
-
Good idea bunting.
-
He was probably still upset they didn't trade Cease for Joc Pederson

Engel to IL (Again), Foster down, Burr/Wright Up. Burdi DFA

Romy held his own. -
I think part of it is they probably think there is very little chance of playing tomorrow.
-
Another thing is if you have a media guide and look at the White Sox Board of Directors, and compared it to the BOD from a media guide 20 years ago, you will see it has shrunk. When people die, they do not get replaced.

As a kid, when JR bought the team, my dad is a lawyer, and he told be back then how this was all set up. It was just as the Tribune reported it 7 or 8 years ago. You could imagine there has to be a lot of people thinking selling is a good idea. If the original partners are still alive, they are in or pushing their 90s. They probably can't fully enjoy the full fruits of ownership. And heirs are sitting on generational wealth, and might not have the same passion for baseball their deceased relative had.
-
And you are never going to get a list of who owns what. Even the other partners have no idea who owns what. Only JR, and maybe a couple of his lackeys.
-
The way this is set up, JR has control until he is dead or sells out, and there isn't anything the other owners can do about it except sell their shares, and I think JR actually has to approve who they sell them to.
-
We have gone through this many times, and the Tribune confirmed it years ago, JR could own 1/1000th of the team, he still is in total control, and if he dies, the executor of his estate has control.
-
JR still controls the team, and unless some of that 30% he actually sold, his bank account didn't get any bigger. Really, if true, nothing to see here.
