  1. The problem with the quote was it was well known Machado was going where they were offering the most money. Maybe someday the White Sox will learn that, and get off their thought that the White Sox have secretly been the dream destination for every player they want to acquire.
  2. as Geddy Lee would say, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
  3. The correct answer was to rid yourself of the dopes that put you in the position you have to trade Sale and Eaton and Quintana on team friendly deals. Bring in someone with a clue, and let them rebuild. Larry Himes was the greatest rebuilder JR ever hired. He thanked him by firing him. Himes , who apparently is or at least was somewhat of a miserable guy didn't like JR's meddling. And JR didn't like Himes so despite building a team with the lowest payroll that won 94 games and not missing on 1 first round pick even though he didn't have top 5 every year, he was shown the door. If Hahn or KW had that success, they would ride it until a Reinsdorf was no longer involved with the team.
  4. After watching Michael run the Bulls, I hope he takes his father's advice. He actually has basketball Bevington as a head coach.
  5. bucket of suck said the White Sox really liked where they stood with Harper. Either he is also fake (my belief) or the White Sox really liked being out.
  6. After yesterday's kick in the balls, and being out on Harper, a gut punch, watch them head butt the fanbase and bring Shields back.
  7. Leaving Soxtalk after something like this is not a wise move. Posting now is like an addict going to AA meetings.
  8. How many times a day do you think JR asks Hahn if Cash Considerations also plays baseball?
  9. The should cancel all walk up music and JR can save some money and get rid of the organist. Circus music only should be allowed at Guaranteed Fail Field this season.
  10. Hahn was going on and on yesterday about being proud of their creativity. Yet they lost to pretty much a straight 10 year $30 million a year contract with limited no trade and an opt out after 5 years. Why is he proud? He lost. I thought this was binary.
  11. It's 8 years away. JR will be over 90. Hahn and KW will be retirement age. They wouldn't be making the decisions. If JR sells, the first thing new ownership does is clean house.
  12. And the other thing is, whether you want to trust KW, RH and JR that they wouldn't manipulate it, none will probably be here at that time.
  13. The problem is the $300 million KW comment, and Nightengale, who is plugged into the White Sox, says the Phillies are bidding against themselves.
  14. It makes no sense. They are so concerned with years 9 and 10. Years 6,7,8 may be declining as well. He could do you a favor opting out. Albert Belle did them the solid.
  15. They were addressing roster structure and said they couldn't build a winning roster giving one player $300 million.
  16. That is the thing I don't understand. If, like many like to say, they have been planning this since trading Sale, WTF kind of plan was this? The big boys were sitting out and they still failed. And the price was given to them months in advance.
  17. 10/$300 million was what eveyone was thinking for Machado since last April. Even more for Harper. So, if that is too much to give one player in order to create a total winning team, like KW said, the White Sox haven't changed colors. They are just out looking for bargains. Like the woman in the article above mentioned, rebuilding requires something from the other side, like spending on a superstar. Nailing that conversion. The Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, Cubs were all not spending. What do you think it would go to if they were? This was their shot, and the failed with Machado. Not to go balls out for Harper would show just how out of touch with reality they are. Mediocre, run down free agents from the bargain bin will be what they can convert on. This regime is tired and needs to change.
  18. I think you are a little off. That record would have lasted for a couple of days at the most. And Stanton still got more than $300 million, although not as a free agent.
  19. Of course not. The rebuild is still on track. They are still going to spend all that money, just on lesser players.... They have been scaring off the fanbase for years. Now they are scaring off their most loyal customers. It's time for Jerry to sell. He doesn't have the heart to fire RH and KW. They all need to go. JR had a great run. Almost 40 years, but it happens to everyone. He just doesn't have it as a pro sports owner anymore.
  20. How long have these clowns been around? When is the last time the White Sox went into a season with a team universally thought of as a contender?
  21. If they thought their offer was more lucrative, it boggles my mind why they wouldn't have given the agent what he wanted, and what they considered a worse deal. Something isn't adding up in the White Sox spin. They got out negotiated. Nothing more, nothing less. They have a chance to right a wrong with Harper, but I suppose because he will want more than $300 million, the White Sox can't pay a guy that and build a winning team. I don't know why they don't try. They have tried to build a winning team on the cheap, and that hasn't worked out. Maybe they just cannot build a winning team.
  22. Instead of Hahn saying they aren’t going to convert on everyone, I think White Sox fans understand this about as well as any fan base, maybe he could actually say, we are going to convert on a premium free agent. With Renton and Arenado, if the Sox were only going 8 years with Machado will they even go 5 with them?
  23. It makes total sense they go after him. Might even get 2nd place again.
