  1. Kevan Smith is a nice guy, but no need to be upset he's gone.
  2. Ozzie has left ESPN. Could he be taking over for Beltin Melton on the pre and post game shows.
  3. Are there any executives that are free agents? As far as managers, I know Maddon is one. I'm not a big fan, but I'm sure if the Sox would have interest, they could probably work in a second place finish for him.
  4. Just because he said he really didn't do it now, doesn't mean he really didn't do it. The victim's mother still thinks he did it, and I am sure she knows far about the case than any of us. I just hope making him a White Sox is never a consideration. I don't care if he's ace material. There are hundreds of 6 year olds in the stands. Them cheering for him would be sickening.
  5. If it catches on and works, at least so,e form of what you are proposing will more than likely happen. now is the time for the White Sox to experiment. I don’t see what they have to lose. If they tried it and it didn’t work, it’s not like not signing Machado or Harper for really no reason.
  6. You would still have the "starter". The guy that you hope gives you 5 or 6 innings. I think using a bullpen guy first if you can get the match ups or make the other manager change his line up early and limit his options late, gives you an edge, especially when you aren't going to be throwing an ace quality pitcher out to start.
  7. You are going to use the bullpen anyway. I don't know if you could or should do it every game, but at least one or two spots could really benefit.
  8. Absolutely. This is free cheese. Make the opponent either change his line up early, and tie his hands for the rest of the game, or give the reliever, someone you would have used later anyways, optimal match ups. The regular starter can still go 5 or 6 or 7 innings.
  9. Houston isn't exactly like playing at an airport.
  10. It would have been interesting to see exactly what happened if the Sox signed one of these guys. It might have really changed things forever. The fan base has been beat down so much and so long, it's just assumed the White Sox operate like they are the Pittsburgh Pirates. Who knows what this might have started.
  11. Which is nice, but they are paying him for 2019. Chances are there is going to be a drop off.
  12. Considering the date, I wouldn’t take much out of these games, good or bad. They are for for entertainment purposes only, Unfortunately, today was about as entertaining as the past few seasons.
  13. I dig him. His asking price was well beyond our means. Harpers contracts present day value, $241 million.
  14. Which is usually how it works out.The problem is, the Sox think they are a destination players would take discounts to play for. In the real world, considering opportunity and money are the same, not even less pay, how many players would list the Sox in their top 15 destinations? I would think top 5 would be almost zero.
  15. Our offer was superior. We couldn’t afford the offer he agreed to
  16. To be fair, they were out of ammo to trade for a good prospect. Maybe Rodon turns into that. And most didn’t want them to spend at all last year. Save the money for Harpchado. People trusted them and they were burned.
  17. Everyone’s level of fandom is different, and everyone has a breaking point. It might take a move and a name change for some. It might take a personal bad experience for others, or it might be constant failure. People losing interest is not new. It has been happening for over a decade. If things continue down this path, more will jump off. I will say, considering what Machado and Harper were expected to get, and what they received, and how the Sox were planning this for 2 years and came up $50 million short on Machado, after JR apparently “stepped up”, and didn’t even bid on Harper, their commitment to winning is being questioned for the first time by me. I am still a fan for sure. Probably less engaged than I have been since I became a fan at 4 years old, But supporting this group running the team, now makes me pause. A good team will probably change all that. But maybe not. Maybe not paying attention to every pitch every season and not really too upset if they lose 5 in a row is actually a really good thing. If they ever become successful again, many will return. But it isn’t crazy to me to think for that to happen, the house needs to be cleaned. Their 2 yearold plan to add a premium free agent on a huge discount proved that to me.
  18. So the White Sox didn’t even bid on Harper according to KW. Asking price way out of their range.
  19. JR gets blame because he determines payroll. RH and KW get blame because they actually believed at least one of these guys would sign for a discount. That was their plan for 2 years. It is unbelievable how unrealistic they are. And instead are paying mediocre players $13 million for absolutely no reason. That alone may make JR have KW and RH work the dunk tank at the Sox company picnic.
  20. Here's the other thing to look forward to, if these prospects ever turn into studs who could command huge deals, you better hope the Sox manipulate their service clocks, because they are out of here the second they become free agents unless something changes upstairs.
  21. It's a shame the White Sox put their fans in a position to call them cheap. Sell the team if you can't spend the money to compete. KW's "love connection" with Bryce Harper was worth a 0% discount.
  22. There is no reliable source that said they actually even tried to sign Harper. They met him, but that seems about it. Once Boras gave a price, it seems they were done.
