  1. Exactly. They want to wait for Harper. If he doesn't sign with Philly, Machado has an excellent chance of getting an improved offer. It's not like the White Sox are in a take it or leave it position.
  2. If the 1 in a trillion comes in and the Sox get outbid by the Pirates, they will deserve everything thrown at them. But really, there is a better chance the Cubs move to Rosemont after they are done renovating than that happening.
  3. BTW, if anyone is interested, one year subscriptions to The Athletic are $24 today.
  4. What I am saying is if anyone really thinks Bummer and Fulmer alone will get the Sox Joc Pederson, maybe they should see if they could get Seager and Turner and Bellinger for Jose Rondon and Juan Minaya. It isn’t a realistic trade, and I agree, the Sox shouldn’t be giving up someone highly thought of for 2 years of control. So unless this is expanded like rabbit suggests, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense for the White Sox, as much as I like Joc.
  5. I don't know the general consensus of Tony Romo, but he was on fire yesterday. Probably the most impressive performance by a color commentator I have ever heard for an NFL game. He was calling plays like Doug Collins used to do in his prime NBA commenting ysars.
  6. He is a 2-3 WAR player making $5 million . It would be impossibly surprising there wouldn't be a better offer than Bummer and Fulmer.
  7. All I know is if the White Sox had Pederson and traded him for Bummer and Fulmer , we would all be livid. That particular trade isn’t going to happen. I like Joc as much as anyone here, but he is going to cost a decent amount. Not a 100 loss team’s scraps.
  8. I think the Dodgers could do a lot better than a run of the mill lefty reliever, and a guy who has done nothing but struggle since he turned professional for Pederson. I could understand them taking that return if the Sox were taking Hill off their hands, but no way if bad money isn’t included. I would think either Hahn has to give up a guy like Basabe or Bush, or Joc won’t be playing for the White Sox.
  9. If Jon Jay helps deliver Machado, who the fuck cares is Avi is better? If he doesn’t, then it might matter.
  10. Obviously not with game content, but if they could somehow partner with the Bears, it could go a long way getting their channel in most homes.
  11. Joc is not bad. I have always kind of hoped the Sox went after him the last couple of years. Seems to be the odd man out in LA all the time but is still a good player. But at this point, if you are going to lose him in 2 seasons, giving up value doesn’t make a lot of sense. Bummer, fine. He seems like he will be OK, but acquiring someone similar shouldn’t be too hard if needed. Fuller, OK. It doesn’t look like the Sox plan for him is working. Even Frye, it’s not like he is Billy Wagner or even Zach Britton. Next man up is probably just as likely to be around 3 or 4 years from now. But a guy like Bush maycome back to haunt them. Especially is Joc is a 2 year guy.
  12. Not paying Hill or Joc, and getting Alonso and Jay off the books after 2019, more than pays for Pollock.
  13. If you think about it, it probably makes more sense for the Sox to sign Pollock. He is better than Joc. You don’t have to pay Hill $18-19 million for probably 125 innings. And you keep your prospects. if it is just Fuller and Bummer, I could see why they would do it. But they have to add to that, it would be showing a lot of impatience.
  14. Who knows if there is anything to the rumor, but I do think Joc did some work with the new hitting analytics guy.
  15. Didn’t he say less than 24 hours ago the White Sox were negotiating through the night, now some mystery teams ? I guess if you mention every possibility, one of them will be right eventually, and you can show everyone years from now who know you are full of shit.
  16. As Roenbloom wrote, Boylen is the basketball equivalent to Bevington,
  17. When a guy brags he had a trade 3 months in advance, you know he's just guessing.
  18. He's been pretty brutal lately, but he is a guy the White Sox had a lot of interest in a few years ago.
  19. We all know Manny wants to go to the Yankees. The only reason he is entertaining other offers is money. So if he still goes to the Yankees, it was because the other teams, including the White Sox, failed to offer him enough money. It's pretty simple. It's not calling them cheap, it's saying they didn't offer enough.
  20. And the White Sox didn't offer him enough money.
  21. If Machado's price is $175 milliion, that's a little more than half what many of us thought it would take. You would think the Phillies could go for both.
  22. I don't see where it would serve them any purpose. I just think it's either a case of accurate with a smaller number of suitors than hoped, or someone who has a track history of being great source to these guys, suddenly being way off.
  23. This makes no sense though. A. If the White Sox have a legit $250 million bid, getting everyone to believe it's $175 million accomplishes nothing. They still are $75 million in front. And if the bid actually is $175 million, Lozano doesn't want that out there. He's looking for $300 million plus. If there really was someone willing to go near there, you would think they would have had some extensive discussions by now. It's probably either accurate, or what guys who are usually accurate are passing along, and perhaps they are a bit off now.
  24. Plus they own half the neighborhood. Their cash registers are ringing all day and all night on home game days.
