  1. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 09:41 AM) To be fair to Chi Town Sox, other than him, I have heard the same thing that Crawford is in rehab from three different people. Maybe he is, but his first post clearly said his source said he was on crack. His second post clearly said his next source said it was meth. His 3rd post clearly said it was now opioids and his sources never said what it was. He has already contradicted himself, which with something like this, isn't OK IMO. I appreciate scoops as much as anyone, but this isn't a trade rumor or firiing or signing.
  2. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 08:54 AM) How many times do I have to say it? Again, take it how it is. You know how stories change as it gets passed along, as I said, it's something very serious. Both sources are law enforcement. Jesus. You admitted neither of your sources said exactly what Crawford was supposedly on, yet you have posts mentioning one says crack, the second says meth. And then you say it's opioids. Was that source number 3? The story didn't need to change as it was passed along. You changed it yourself.
  3. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jan 20, 2018 -> 01:50 PM) lol...where the hell were you people from 2008 to 2016 with the Divider in Chief in charge? Barry did more to completely divide this country and stir up racial divide than anybody I've seen in my lifetime...but it all depends on what side of the fence you're on huh? I realize most on this board kissed his ass at every turn...they saw absolutely nothing he did as bad. That's your home boy from Chicago...I get it. It's why I usually never get involved in these type of threads/forums. Barry was just as despised...and by just as large a segment. There's more people in the country than just Chicago...NYC...and Califoria. What people don't seem to get...why Donny was elected isn't because of the D or R next to their name...it's because he's really neither...people are sick of both. Neither said gives a tinkers damn about you...or your family or well being. If you honestly think Democrats do...you're incredibly naive. It's all about "what can you do to get yourself re-elected". How/why do you think the spend so much money to take a meager salary...only to leave (if they ever do) as multi-millionaires? Newsflash...country has been split for quite some time. It's idiotic to blame it on Trump...but I'm sure the MSM will do it's best to "tone it down". lol.... Keep the masses at each other's throats....it's how people stay in control/power. This country isn't smart enough to figure that out yet.... You are very inconsistent. If Obama was such a divider, and was hated more than Trump, how did he win a second term? He wasn't a divider at all. It was just the white people who could not stand seeing a non white POTUS acting up. And one of them is now in office, empowering the rest of them. I have seen more racist s*** on trains, buses, the streets, in the last 12 months than I have seen in the past 20 years combined. They have come back out from the closet.
  4. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jan 20, 2018 -> 10:10 PM) Lol...keep grasping at s*** boys! Kudos with the back pedaling. No...polls had her winning BIGLY! Spin it any way you want...blame any mueller crap you want...they were massively wrong. Every single one of you misjudged people sitting back just waiting to vote. Blame it on whatever. Maybe blame democrats for trotting a lying old stale pos candidate out there people couldn’t stand. And too bad with the 2m morevote bs. Like I said...the country does not revolve around heavy metropolitan blue cities like Chicago...la and nyc. Get over it... Trump had 3 million less votes than his opponent in his win he refer as a landslide victory.
  5. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 05:53 AM) I moreso meant the actual story being fake, of course I don't want it to be real, I have now heard from two separate people who have nothing to do with each other that Crawford is on something, was found and picked up at a hotel and the story is now opioids (although neither said exactly what). Like I said, it's looking like it's very serious either way. I can't see why somebody would make that up and reputable people have that story. Wife, girlfriend, baby-momma...it's all the same. A woman called it in, no need to pick the story apart. Just take it how it is. Your first source said crack. Your second said meth, and now you are saying opioids.
  6. I don't buy it. If it is true, it would eventually come out, and all this talk from the Blackhawks about how they expect him back this season would look beyond ridiculous. If it is true, he is done for this season, and they know it, so at the very least they would acknowledge that he is probably done for the season, and if they are thinking playoffs, put him on Long Term IR and open up some more cap space for additions.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 20, 2018 -> 04:30 PM) Who said anything about him being a better player at 33 and 34? Right now the going rate for 1 WAR is something like $9 million from what was said to me a couple days ago. So, $15 million is me asking him to be a 1.5 WAR player like he was the last 2 years. If we still have a hole at that position, that is reasonable money to me. If one of the guys we have right now puts up a 2 WAR season, then they've made that unnecessary. Paying full price for WAR, Fangraphs has him worth $25 million total for his age 30 and 31 seasons. You want to pay him $30 million for his age 33 and 34 seasons. I think that must mean you expect him to be better. Besides, if he is available at that amount, he will have had another not so great year in 2018. Personally, I would rather not have a guy play CF that you would constantly say or think, he would have made that play 4 or 5 years ago, but I guess that's just me.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 20, 2018 -> 04:14 PM) What counts as big money? He'll be 34 - if he could play a decent CF this year for the Orioles, a 2 year/$30 million deal is roughly fair and that could readily fill our 2019 and 2020 outfield needs, especially if someone like Engel could play themselves into a "decent backup" role. That would then cover 2019 and 2020 and, depending on what he does this year, all of a sudden we bring Robert into the fold. If none of the CF candidates step up this year, that fits our schedule. On the other hand, one of our CF candidates could step up this year, put up a 2 WAR+ season, stay healthy, and make that an unnecessary move. None of them are that far off from that level, but they actually have to do it. If Engel hits .200 again he isn't an option. If Leury and Tilson can't stay healthy then they're not options. That's, again, why we need to play this season out and be ready to hit the ground running in November next year knowing what our needs are. So you think betting $30 million Adam Jones is a better player at 33 and 34 than he was at 30 and 31 makes sense. I don't , and for some reason think he wouldn't be available at the price unless he declines even more. And he he is available at the price you mentioned, he will have had another declining season.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 20, 2018 -> 02:08 PM) Indeed. And after reading it I'm even more convinced the next three titles are spoken for unless KD or Steph get hurt. Which is a problem with the NBA. Bulls fans had it the other way back in the day when basically every team was in NBA hell until they got old and/or hurt. Lebron can go to the Lakers next year, and it will make them much better, but they won't have a chance unless GS has injuries. Basically, teams have to plan for when they get vulnerable. And 3 or 4 years seems about right.
  10. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 20, 2018 -> 12:53 PM) The White Sox never spent $50M on a LatAm signing or traded a star player to the Cubs. Can’t keep citing the past as a reason something won’t happen as there have been real changes in how the organization operates. And I’m not arguing they will land Machado and those other guys, I’m arguing that they can fit them in their 2019 budget. What exactly do you think the Sox are going to do with all this payroll space? If they don’t spend it on top-end free agents, we’ll most certainly have an extremely low payroll. Is that really what you think is going to happen? You keep saying you’re the one being realistic, but I think you blind to the fact we’re going to have a f***ton of money to spend in free agency and that we’re going to spend the majority of it one way or the other. I have no doubt the White Sox, either next offseason or the offseason after that will spend money like they have never spent before. But $500 million in one offseason for them is laughable. Besides, why would anyone want to pay Adam Jones big money? Declining defense, hasn't put up a 2 fWAR since 2015.l, and will only be older.
  11. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 20, 2018 -> 11:58 AM) I don’t follow. How do Machado’s financial commitments from 2020 onwards effect our 2019 budget? Sure, they’re not going to go out and sign a guy to another $300M+ contract, but there is absolutely no reason they couldn’t sign a few big AAV deals on a short-term basis. Our young players won’t start getting expensive for quite some time and won’t prevent us from adding a few expensive vets to 3 to 4 year deals on top of Machado. And it really sounds like you’re prepared for a $70M payroll or something because of attendance. Just for perspective, we haven’t had a sub $90M payroll since 2005. Revenue streams have significantly changed & increased since then and there is no reason to believe we won’t rock a $110M to $120M payroll in 2019 assuming we’re able to sign the guys we desire. I’m confident we could afford adding Machado, McCutchen, and an impact reliever like Miller in the same offseason. The only thing stopping us is actually convincing these guys to come to Chicago and bidding as much as the competition. Those are the big “ifs”, the budget won’t be a problem IMO. The White So haven't signed one guy to a contract any of the 3 you mentioned will command, ever. To think they would go from 0 to 3 and one of those being a $300 + million in one off season is a fantasy. I am all for dreaming, but that is just not realistic.
  12. Other than maybe their Sunday attire, they don't need new uniforms, and they went back to wearing the black way too often last year.
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 20, 2018 -> 11:17 AM) Aren’t you an accountant or something in real life? We’re going to have almost no payroll commitments come 2019. Even with Machado at $30M/year, we could easily add another $40M in annual commitments in the short-run if not more. And that’s assuming we keep Abreu at like $20M/season. Do you honestly expect to have a sub $100M in 2019? And just for perspective, the Sox added nearly $50M in commitments during the 2014/15 offseason. You do realize signing Machado is like signing 3 JD Martinez, and you do realize that if the young players are what you are hoping, they get expensive quickly, and you do realize White Sox fans don't usually spend much money on teams until they show them they can win, not by actually being in first place for months but by actually winning...I expect them to go after Machado. Whether they sign him is a different story, I would think it is probably slim, but for speculation sake, I wouldn't argue with anyone penciling him in a future line up. If they do, they aren't going to spend the money on another top guy. You want 2 or 3 , move off of Machado and there is a chance. I don't know how much, but I do think the White Sox will break their record for biggest contract, assuming most goes according to plan in 2018.
  14. So the White Sox will sign Machado and another high priced free agent. OK. That was fun. Now back to reality.
  15. 2013 Trump, the blame on a government shutdown is at the top. It is a terrible thing to have on a resume. In 100 years ,nobody will blame Boehner or Reid, it is all on Obama. The right guy would get everyone in a room and make a deal. 2018 The dealmaker has the job, but now if there is a shutdown blame the democrats. I really want to know where republicans get off crying about dems not "working with them". In 8 years did they ever once work with Obama?
  16. Trump in 2013, if there is a shutdown it would be a disaster and all Obama"s fault, because he is the leader and leaders get things done
  17. If Brady can't play, the Bellichick/Kraft relationship has to fray a bit more. Jimmy G as a back up would look pretty, pretty, pretty good right now.
  18. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 19, 2018 -> 04:53 PM) Lie detector treats are garbage pseudoscience and that was a decent joke. You obviously don't watch Maury
  19. I am pretty sure if there was a rumor of Obama with a porn star, it would be a big deal.
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 19, 2018 -> 04:50 PM) There was no scandal behind the Susan Rice stuff like Nunes was claiming, though. That's one reason you should be skeptical.. I could link the journalists later if you'd like. It's no less than the people insisting that the memo actually means anything have. Ultimately the memo either contains legitimate information or it doesn't, and we won't know for sure unless the Republicans release it (which they can if they want) and their claims are verified. Given who wrote it and his history, I'm going to remain doubtful. Conversely, what have you seen from Nunes in the past that would give you a reason to treat him as a credible source? I don't always agree with Greenwald and think he has bad takes sometimes. I posted him because I know you like him. What do you think about his opinion on this? The R after his name obviously.
  21. What is going to happen with the Bulls? Do they go right away, or does the Swirsk finish out the season on WLS?
  22. So according to In Touch magazine, Stormy Daniels passed a lie detector when she talked about her affair that now has never happened with Trump back in 2011.
  23. 771 coal mining jobs added in Trump's first year. What an impact he made. He's doing tremendously well.
  24. WGN radio was losing $6 million a year broadcasting the Cubs, while paying them around $10 million. Pedestrian radio is very different from TV. It's not going to be a big money maker for any team or station.
  25. QUOTE (Latilleon @ Jan 19, 2018 -> 08:22 AM) This can't be a good sign for the upcoming TV deal can it? I doubt it.
