QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 5, 2018 -> 09:50 PM) How about you tell us in your infinite wisdom why the stock market has crashed for three consecutive days in a row? Simply algorithms and profit taking, right? According to Hannity, its Obama's fault. I am not making this up.

According to the NYT, Trump most likely won't be speaking with Mueller under oath, even though he would love to do so. Apparently his lawyers are afraid he might be caught lying. Thatuwhy these guys get paid what they get paid. Who would have possibly thought Trump might lie?
-
The should show him the video of Paul Ryan during Obama's last SOTU, and Trump's first speech last year when they said the exact same thing about infrastructure. Up and clapping with Trump. Sitting with a look of a kid who just got a week of detention with Obama. Treasonous.

The correction is on. Probably has something to do with Obama or Hillary.

Funny, Trump hasn't mentioned 401ks for several days. Using short term things to promote long term things many times blows up in your face.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 5, 2018 -> 09:24 AM) As for the halftime show. Justin Timberlake makes easy listening elevator music and I don't get his appeal at all. I laughed when I read this. I just took the elevator and JT music was playing.

How is Trump going to spin not releasing the Dems memo? You know he won't. Maybe he will use the it uses facts argument. Alternative facts are far better.

NCAA basketball thread 2017-18
Dick Allen replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
when is the last time Illinois played a basketball game where the officials weren't out to get them? I used to here it when watching games with my dad an UI grad and fanatic. My brother is the same way. -
Urlacher deserved it for sure. I hope his hairplug place gives him a touch up before the ceremony. feom yesterday's videos we see why he is wearing a hat all the time these days. It is falling out in a large way.

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Feb 3, 2018 -> 09:48 PM) Perhaps his time these past 37 years would have better spent as an executive of MLB rather than as owner of our White Sox, given these so-called accomplishments of which you speak have not led to the success of the White Sox organization. You're a one trick pony. I wish he could be more like Peter Angelos.

Paul Ryan actually tweeted about a secretary taking home an extra $1.50 a week from the very successful tax cuts. This is actually real. https://mobile.twitter.com/TeamPelosi/statu...sh%2Findex.html Ryan got a $500k campaign contribution from the Koch brothers for passing the bill. Maybe he can cover a few memberships.

President Trump told Congressional Republicans that Sen. Orrin Hatch once told him he was the “greatest president in the history of our country,” better even than presidents Washington and Lincoln. Not exactly, Hatch’s office quickly explained. “He said once I am the single greatest president in his lifetime, now he’s a young man, so it’s not that much,” Trump said. (Hatch is 83.) Trump elaborated: “And he actually once said I’m the greatest president in the history of our country and I said does that include Lincoln and Washington. He said ‘Yes.’ I said I love this guy. I love him.” A spokesman for Hatch, Matt Whitlock, later told TheWrap: “Senator Hatch has said that he would like to work with the President to make this the greatest presidency in history for the American people.” We asked: So he did not call him the greatest, as of now? “No he did not,” Hatch’s spokesman said. Trump’s speech Thursday came on the same day he was aggressively fact-checked for wrongly claiming the best State of the Union viewership ever. Someday his viewership “can be” the greatest, but as of now, it is not. Hatch has announced plans to retire (not because of this, he announced it before) leading to speculation that Mitt Romney may run for his seat. Could you imagine the outrage if this was Hillary or Obama saying this stuff? I saw a guy walking around last summer in a t shirt that had Trumps head on it and a WTF below. He is sick.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 03:00 PM) McCain's a corrupt Democrat, of course hed say this. Its reaching McCarthy levels at this point, if you dont blindly love Dear Leader Trump, youre a Democrat. Ironically, Trump was a Democrat, but I assume they will attempt to change history. I heard Hatch said Trump was the greatest Republican President of all time. Hatch told him he could be the greatest president in history, obviously if he accomplished some things. Trump took it to be he was the greatest president in history with the most attended inauguration, and the most watched SOTU address. But Hatch could probably get whatever he wants now.

John McCain: “The latest attacks against the FBI and Department of Justice serve no American interests ― no party’s, no President’s, only Putin’s,” McCain added. “The American people deserve to know all the facts surrounding Russia’s ongoing efforts to subvert our democracy, which is why Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation must proceed unimpeded. Our nation’s elected officials, including the president, must stop looking at this investigation through the lens of politics and manufacturing political sideshows. If we continue to undermine our own rule of law, we are doing Putin’s job for him.”

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 01:09 PM) Im honestly surprised that so many republicans wanted Clinton to win. Trump is the greatest business man, great president, most popular person with the most viewers, biggest crowds of all time. Could you imagine how much greater he would be if the cards weren't so stacked against him?

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 01:03 PM) I'm not sure I follow. Do mind elaborating? I think it's pretty simple, and something you have probably done yourself when contemplating large purchases. Believe it or not, money not spent in 2018 can be spent in 2019. They don't have rules against saving and spending later. Despite the overwhelming embracing of the White Sox rebuild, they had their worst attendance this century in 2017, and they haven't exactly been known for terrific attendance figures. Add that to some of the cheapest tickets in the league, saving now seems like a good plan.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 12:51 PM) Machado’s $300M contract is going to be over 10 years or more. We’re not paying for all of that up front. Taking on Kemp’s contract really shouldn’t impact our ability to land Machado next year. The bigger concerns will be how much of our future payroll are we willing to to commit to one player and how much long-term risk are we willing to take on in terms of contract length. Short-term cash flow really shouldn’t be a problem for us. One of the reasons they would ever be in the ballpark with Machado is the money they save now.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 12:22 PM) That judge is full out auditioning for a Judge Judy type TV show. When a judge wishes that a defendant be raped like she did last week, that might be crossing the line, no matter how awful Nasser was. The first time I saw her, that was the first thing I thought. She's Judge Judy Jr.

So Trump makes this a Dem/Rep issue and he has the biggest problem with the guy he nominated for the office. Donald J. Trump ladies and gentlemen.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 11:08 AM) Memo being released with zero redactions. Fox news getting exclusive first details. They'll probably use this to fire rosenstein, jeopardizing Mueller. State news usually gets first crack. Hannity has a week of new material.
-
The prospect they get for taking Kemp better be really, really good. It would be $43 million they can't spend on other guys including Manny Machado.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 08:54 AM) (1) It's too bad his request was denied; (2) I really hope the local state's attorney declines to press charges. http://thebiglead.com/2018/02/02/victim-fa...y-nassar-video/ Agree. I could only imagine what is going through his mind. I don't have a daughter, but I do have a niece I adore. And if anyone ever did anything like that to her, I think jail would be a real possibility for me. I would have to rely on a jury of my peers.

You know he is going overboard when even Fox News admitted his boast about his SOTU address being the most watched in the history of the world was false.

QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 09:06 AM) It’s all led by one man: - Trump this morning. Apparently he has been able to confirm the veracity of the memo. LOL. Let's get this straight. FBI, CIA, crooked. Russians, Nazis, many good people. Please keep playing the America card Donnie, and trash people who kneel during the National Anthem for your made up slight.

These tax cuts are making people rich: Lowe’s, Home Depot and Walmart are using roughly the same progressive bonus structure, which Walmart first announced earlier this month. Huge one time bonuses: Less than two years: $200 ($150 for Lowe’s workers) Two to four years: $250 ($200 for Lowe’s workers) Five to nine years: $300 10 to 14 years: $400 ($500 for Lowe’s workers) 15 to 19 years: $750 20+ years: $1,000
