QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 03:05 PM) For me, this part is all about education, and it's about consent. You drill into your son that (a) a woman can't consent when she's drunk; (b) that consent is the most important thing when it comes to sexual encounters; and © if you are unsure, don't do it because if you are wrong, you might ruin your life. It's easier to say this than to do this, and I had my fair share of drunken hookups in college. But sex is just like entering into a contract. Both parties have to have the capacity to consent. Teach your sons that and hope they make the right decisions. A neighbor of mine is a retired CPD detective. He once told me you wouldn't believe how many hungover DePaul coeds came into the station on a Saturday and Sunday morning claiming they were raped. 99 times out of 100, they would leave after being questioned without pressing charges.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 03:03 PM) But it is bloodlust. Why the hell does this guy owe you or me an apology? He owes these women apologies...you know, the ones he actually harmed. I don't know either party. He doesn't owe me anything. He's apologizing to the rest of us to hopefully save his career. Once everyone knows what he is, do they really want to go see him perform, or watch his movies, or TV shows? It's publicity. Some people donate money and other things anonymously. Others have to make sure as many people know about it as possible IMO, this is pretty similar.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 02:45 PM) For me, it's just the fact that I don't give a f*** about apologies. I'm immune to them, they mean nothing to me at this point(granted it doesn't matter what I think but just sharing my opinion). Like I said, he may very well be sorry for what he did, he may very well be sorry he just got caught, I don't know and I don't care. Fact is, dude is a creep and an apology whether it's sincere or not isn't going to change that for me. For me, it's the publicists playbook. Apologize. Go to rehab. Everyone gets second chances. Louis CK got several chances and did the exact same thing over and over and over again. Once it was apparent his career was in jeopardy, boy is he sorry. There are some people who truly are sorry when they do something wrong. But in my book, it doesn't have to take the threat of losing something, a career, freedom, whatever, for them to come to the conclusion they screwed up. I just ask myself with these dopes, would they be so apologetic if their careers weren't going to take a hit? I haven't had one yet where I would think yes. Maybe Dustin Hoffman.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 02:29 PM) I didn't apologize until this movement. Does that make me a s***ty human as well? Or does it just make me human? Dunno. Were you using your position to keep the person you ultimately apologized to, silent? Were you denying any issue when questioned? Did it take your career to go down the toilet to come clean? If this NYT article wasn't in the pipeline , would his movie have premiered? Would he have issued this apology today? I don't know what you did, but there are several women this guy just whipped it out in front of and started whacking. I would imagine there are more than a couple more who haven't come forward. That's not a human mistake. That's a sick bastard. I understand people make mistakes, but this has been an issue with this guy for a long time, and how it upset others didn't seem to bother him until he realized it was going to cost him his livelihood. His victims livelihood meant s*** to him.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 02:19 PM) I mean, why would you apologize publicly before you're caught? When all this started I reached out an apologized to an ex for a past transgression that'd been eating away at me for a long time, similar to what CK describes, but I hadn't had the guts or the push to make amends (the relationship didn't end well). The #MeToo movement caused me to do so. But I did it privately. If I were a public figure, should I have been expected to make that apology publicly? Not taking a side on this, just honestly asking for perspectives. He could have apologized privately years ago. He apologizes now when everyone is going down. There were rumors upon rumors upon rumors with this guy. If he would have done that say up to 6 months ago, he may not have had this story in the NYT. The fact that so many guys are apologizing, to me shows they have done this to many, many women and/or men or children. If it was just a one off, they most likely would be doing what Jeremy Piven is doing, denying it, making it he said/she said. You have a few more to back up similar claims, you can't do this.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 02:01 PM) Eff that. Maybe it reads like that in a vacuum. This crap has been going on for years with this guy and everyone knows it. There have been all sorts of attempts to silence people. Where was his remorse back then? Today he realizes remorse when they cancel his movie opening? Screw him. I agree with this. The women have been upset about this for a long time, and it wasn't a big secret. He said nothing until it cost him money. NYT expose, s*** got real. Time to apologize. His agent even may have messed with the accusers' careers.

I guess State, I mean Fox News refuses to accept anything other than whatever the right proposes, it's great for everyone. Policy Institute founder Simon Rosenberg appeared on Fox News and tried to make a point about how the proposed Republican tax plan would actually raise taxes on middle-income families as time passes. “Over time, a majority of middle-class people will be paying more in taxes rather than less,” he explained. Fox News host Melissa Francis didn't like the numbers he was using, so she told him they didn't count. “No, no, I don’t accept that math. It’s static analysis, and I don’t accept static analysis. I only agree with dynamic analysis, because when you cut, the economy’s going to grow. Rosenberg walked off the set.

Donald J. Trump ✔@realDonaldTrump Spoke to Roy Moore of Alabama last night for the first time. Sounds like a really great guy who ran a fantastic race. He will help to #MAGA! 4:56 AM - Sep 27, 2017

Much like his travel ban, Trump popping off about CNN being fake news and his desire for the justice department to go after his perceived enemies, could work against him if the ATT/ Time Warner merger goes to court legal experts are saying. Or I should say, many people are saying.....believe me.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 08:27 AM) Martellus Bennett is just like Brandon Marshall- no matter what team signs them despite all of the past baggage, fan bases can't wait to watch them play for their team. When will people learn? And just think, Emery and Trestman thought it would be a good idea to have them both on the same team at once. For a year, it was pretty good. The Bears had an actual offense.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 07:08 PM) I sure hope we see more in the corporate world as well. Its rampant. My wife was sexually harassed interviewing for a law job with EEOC many years ago. It is everywhere. She was going to file a charge, but was worried her name would be mud, and her career would be over before it began. Of course that is where long dong Silver came from. Anita Hill wasn't lying.

QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 02:30 PM) Feel bad for the women that go through this s***, like what are they supposed to do at the moment? Glad these scumbags are being exposed at least. Hopefully we never see them winning awards and being media darlings again. Now as long as the guy is whipping it out, they should whip out their phones and take pictures and post them or show them to the proper people. If you are in private, is it considered legal?

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 02:20 PM) Profile came back with an apology. https://twitter.com/rschultzy20 I'm so sick of apologies. There are some that are true, but IMO, most of the time people apologize they are sorry for getting caught. If they hadn't, they would still be doing the same thing.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 01:10 PM) Yeah only 3 years of control. I thought he had 4. I was mistaken. It does look like he may be the odd man out in Boston and the White Sox really, really wanted him a while back. The extra year and defense, I might still do it if I were Hahn. He could be flipped eventually or be part of the team when they are really humming. Might need DD to throw in a lottery pick though.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 11:09 AM) I'll cut Rutherford some slack because he is still young, but he will have to show solid progress in 2018 for the deal to not be viewed purely as dumping $20 million of Robertson's salary. I still think a huge motivation for that deal was to trim salary to help offset the Luis Robert signing rather than to get the best possible return I don't think so. I think they are really high on Rutherford. Hopefully he develops. I don't think anyone is holding their breath. He looks the part, just doesn't hit the part, at least yet. He seems to be the offensive version of a 6'5" 240 lb. pitcher who throws 88.

Shohei Otani is likely coming to the USA

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 10:54 AM) By its very nature, if you don't have the real numbers, you can't be positive it is accurate. OK. But the one claiming it isn't somewhat accurate is you, so you must have some knowledge of what the accurate numbers are. Please post for all. I personally think the guy is a fool not to wait a couple of years. BTW, these numbers are now being reported all over the place. AP somehow got them from MLB. -

QUOTE (Nardiwashere @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 10:31 AM) I've never been but I've always wanted to go. I'd like to go this year just for the Hahn seminar and Hawk bobblehead. My problem is that I live a block and a half away, so I don't want to get a hotel room. Is there a way around that? Not to get the bobblehead. I don't need a hotel room either. It used to be if you were a season ticketholder, you could get a 3 day pass for about $25. Not anymore. I'll get a pass for Saturday most likely. It will be about $50 I'm guessing. I am not an autograph guy, but I always enjoyed the seminars even if they are pretty much fluff. By the end of January you could use some White Sox stuff, and the optimism is always nice that time of year. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 10:44 AM) You must have a Trump's view of the word accurate. Whatever. You said it was wrong, show us what's right. But you won't because your post was to insult me and then you found out it wasn't something I created. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 10:35 AM) I didn't realize you took it from a real source, as no credit was given. It is also still not known by your own words here. You would think the person that says something is inaccurate would have something that is accurate. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 10:27 AM) That is kind of inaccurate. Quite a few teams have traded for international cap space that isn't exactly known. Perfect example, the Sox trade with Texas we sent them some amount of cap space which was never reported. It is supposedly based on what teams have already agreed to sign some guys, and estimates of bonus money traded. It's from Big League Stew. If you have a more accurate one, please post. -
QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 09:06 AM) Because we need to de-emphasize higher education for the vast majority of people. Racking up insane amounts of debt isn't a good start to a career. I love the poorly educated.
