I keep seeing the beat guys say if Fox is fired and Fangio isn't named the head coach, he will not be with the Bears next year. For all you posters who know more about football than I do, if they do get a new DC it really has to be a 3-4 guy doesn't it? Wouldn't going back to a 4-3 screw them up for at least a season or 2?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 22, 2017 -> 04:38 PM) And yet, since he went against Trump, the impression of him got better in a lot of people's eyes. Heel vs heel never works. These 2 are basically the same. Since they hate each other maybe they each hate themselves.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 22, 2017 -> 10:23 AM) According to MLB network, 3 teams have over $3 million to spend (Rangers, Yankees, Twins) and the Pirates have about 2.2 million. There is a bar in WI that has free beer on Sundays until the Packers score. They got shutout last Sunday.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 22, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) Trump would highly recommend him for office. He would make America great again. Since MAGA was Trump's campaign slogan, that implies it wasn't great. How unpatriotic. And for a guy who hates to be politically correct, he sure does take a politically correct view on standing for the National Anthem.

It looks like a couple of these guys will be the Otani consolation gifts.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 22, 2017 -> 08:12 AM) Of those four, really only the Mariners have a regular DH that would compete for ABs. Believe me, I love to follow the NPB and I want Otani on the White Sox BADLY (I subscribe to the PL streaming service and watched all of Otani's starts this year), but this one is looking to be very, very unlikely for us. Really, no AL team has less to offer him on paper than we do. We're not currently a contender, have the least amount of money to give, exist in an underperforming media market (given the Cubs and compared to LA/NYC), and we have a guy who will likely need to compete for DH at bats going forward (Abreu). On top of that, the Sox are one of the few teams who didn't bother to send anyone to go see him pitch this year, and there have been no indications that they've contacted his agent. To me, it appears that the Sox consciously chose to put their eggs in the Luis Robert basket instead of joining the scrum for Otani, knowing that they had a much better chance of landing Robert given their ability to spend big and offer a Cuban-friendly clubhouse. I agree for the most part, but there are a couple of AL teams that can't even offer $300k at this time. But I do think they should throw some presentation to him anyway. I would imagine most teams figured Otani was going to wait a couple of years. But they can offer him a DH role 5 days a week and see where it takes himI did read that the consensus is the team signing him will have to go to some sort of 6 man rotation initially. I think since contention will not be in the cards, he would have a more legit chance at doing both than will some other teams. It is probably worse than 100 to 1 he takes the team's best offer, but this is like a $2 billion prize in mega millions. You know you aren't going to win, but you buy the $1 ticket just in case. I would think he signs with the Yankees. -
It will be interesting. Tams have already allocated their funds or are, saving it for Otani, the fact these kids get to keep their Braves money could help the White Sox. If you had nothing, the difference between $325k and $300k is huge. If you have a million or so in the bank, not as huge. Comfort would become important.

Bears sign Santos.

I listened to the OB, Hampton and Koz show yesterday, and again according to them, the loss was all John Fox. I think Fox needs to go, but these guys are getting ridiculous, especially since the person they want to replace him and supposedly is one of the worlds greatest offensive minds, just got fired today as OC of the Broncos. Apparently it isn't his fault they haven't scored 20 points in 7 of their last 8 games.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 02:55 AM) Damage control from a new management team who has nothing to lose by "bending the truth"? Could be, but if he does turn into a star, they look pretty bad. He is so young, I don't know how anyone could expect him to put up much numbers-wise. Supposedly his body changed, as he got a lot heavier..

According to Crain's, although the Trump Organization boasted of $9,5 billion revenue in 2016, it actually was about 700 million.

The Bears are looking like a playoff team so far today.

QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Nov 19, 2017 -> 08:57 AM) Are pitchers supposed to be jacked like this? I recall Syndergaard and Harvey also bulking up. It didn't work out for them. It works for some, others, not so much. There does seem to be a hint in this thread that other Sox pitchers don't work out. They might not get as jacked as this guy, but I would bet every one of them has a pretty extensive offseason program they go through, Another post mentioned the uniforms make these guys look a little smaller, and I agree. I think I have mentioned I almost literally ran into Jake Petricka at Soxfest last year. He looks pretty lanky in uniform, but he's a very large man . I was stunned how big he was.

I think with kickers with a lot of choices, the Bears are at a disadvantage because Soldier Field is thought of as a tough place to kick.but money talks, and the Bears have a ton of cap space.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Nov 17, 2017 -> 06:55 PM) I'm there with ya raBBit....I just choose not to engage in these type discussions on any of the boards I'm on because it usually ends up with "mob posse" D's whining...and finger pointing...and basically becoming unhinged. Tell ya what...it's basically the reason I re-registered back in 2010. I was and voted D all my life...but pretty much got sick of the hypocritical bulls*** that I saw from the left...so I bolted. Honestly...it's like a f******* mob posse mentality. I find it curious you landed with the Republican Party when hypocrisy was what you were fleeing.

Jerry Jones is either really racist or not very good at humor.

What a waste of time. Trump wants to undo all the things Obama did, and the next POTUS will spend time and money undoing all the things Trump did, so we will be back where we started.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 17, 2017 -> 02:19 PM) Not me or SS2K specifically highlighted the individual word groupthink as the attack. You're focusing on that word specifically to equate the two of us and slip out of accountability for your actions. Your intent was clear. You know what you were doing. Everyone reading knows what you were doing. You won't admit it though. As for Reddy, he has treated me like garbage on this site long before I ever made it into the filibuster. I clarified what LH said about him. I didn't say anything about Reddy he didn't already say himself. Unless quoting him is an attack I don't know what you are talking about. You attacked me for no reason other than I am not a leftist. I also posted with you in PHT and we never had an issue other than when I would get sick of you carrying rehashed arguments from thread to thread. Now I post in here and you come at me all time. Quit playing victim. It's really old. One thing is for sure. You aren't attacked more than you attack.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 17, 2017 -> 02:09 PM) You'll never own up to it, but how you can say you're doing but instigating I don't know. I used a term you use to describe multiple posters on this board. So if I'm instigating, what are you doing? You piled on Reddy for no reason other than he's liberal.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 17, 2017 -> 02:02 PM) Speaking of personal attacks. Groupthink is a personal attack? Seems the person I reply to introduced the term to this board.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 17, 2017 -> 01:55 PM) That is what he said DA. Thanks for looking out though. And the insult was that Oh, I'm sorry I misunderstood. You don't know everyone in Hollywood, its Broadway. Sorry a degree or two of separation is not knowing everybody. I am one degree from knowing just about everyone on the PGA tour. I know one guy. You know Dan Hayes. You are one or two degrees away from knowing a ton of athletes and entertainers. Blow it out of proportion. That's what Fox News Groupthink teaches.

The tech stuff in cars these days are amazing and will get even moreso. The worry I would have is how easily it seems cars systems can be hacked.

What's with the personal attacks?
