QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 11:12 AM) I guess this has become a catch-all. It’s all over Twitter that Charlie Sheen is accused of sodomizing then 13 Corey Haim. https://www.google.com/amp/www.dailymail.co...-set-Lucas.html My next door neighbor growing up had a role in that movie. She now lives in Ireland and is married to the Edge from U2's best friend. My parents went to the wedding and my mom sat next to him. She called him "Mr. Edge".

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 01:50 PM) I actually think that would be a reasonable stipulation except for the fact that Mike Flynn was spouting off that CNN was gonna see big changes soon. The question would be if Fox News was an asset instead of CNN, would the same request be made? If you think the answer is no, this is really, really bad.

At a contentious meeting on Monday, the Department of Justice's antitrust chief gave AT&T a choice: to get your purchase of Time Warner done, either sell off CNN's parent unit or DirecTV, or we'll see you in court. Speculation the Trump administration is retaliating for CNN's coverage of Agent Orange.

I loved the one where they were talking to the woman going through the checklist of things Trump said he would do that he hasn't done, and she doesn't care, she likes him because he does what he says he will do. And they are racist. Why didn't the woman who lost her son to an OD just tell him drugs were bad?

Shohei Otani is likely coming to the USA

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 09:36 AM) I don't think they necessarily need to see him as much as I would think they'd want to send a message and begin to create a relationship with him, which I have no doubt the other teams were trying to do. I don't know how much of a relationship is built sending a team of people over there to watch him play. If they have a shot, they will do what they did with Tanaka, meet with him and give him a presentation. I think the odds are overwhelming he plays somewhere else. Of course I also utimately believe he will not be playing in the US in 2018. -

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 08:37 AM) If I remember correctly the Sox were one of the teams not to have sent anyone to see him pitch this year. That can't bode well. Considering what they can offer, I don't think they would need a scout to tell them he would be worth it. KW only saw tape of Iguchi. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 11:16 AM) Donald Trump Jr. is taking to twitter to urge Republicans to VOTE GILLESPIE! in VA tomorrow The election is today. I wonder if he thinks 11/8 is always election day? He did it twice, and in between was busy calling Keith Olbermann a dumb ass.

QUOTE (Quin @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 02:26 PM) If it's a white guy, the left calls for gun control. The right blames mental health and pretends it's a non-issue. If it's a Muslim, the left calls for gun control. The right starts blowing their racist dog whistle. I agree with this 100%. If a Muslim shoots up a nightclub, the right doesn't question how he got the cache to pull it off. It's all about why was he let in. If he's white, he's a deranged individual. s*** happens. Thoughts and prayers.

The attitude that making getting a gun tougher won't change anything is BS. There will still be mass shootings. The wrong people will still have guns, but even if it prevents only one of these, it's well worth the time and effort getting it done. Who knows, the next one may victimize someone you know. The NRA should not be in charge of US gun policy.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 12:37 PM) i would hope they have some sort of security for you. There is security. But they aren't armed.

White Sox unlikely to chase big free agents

QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 12:33 PM) I hope your post is true. I hope that's true. Once a payroll is as low as the Sox and the money pours in, it'll be pretty easy for the owners to keep a tiny payroll and enjoy all the money rolling in. Especially if the young guys are good. Sox can claim rebuild is working while spending pennies. Hope they do what's right next offseason. Don't forget ... wait til next year is a sad saying in sports and it seems to me we have a lot of undemanding fans who love the idea of "wait til next year" or "wait til 2020 through 25." I will agree that it is very surprising the percentage of fans who think there is about a 0% failure rate on a rebuild. Hopefully it all works out. They do have a few really good looking prospects. -
The building where I work is a gun free zone. I might have to tell my boss I cannot work under these conditions. The building is a killing zone.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 11:02 AM) Look it up, lazyass. LMAO. Looks like you need to look up this guy's background.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 10:29 AM) I agree with all of this. This isn't a new problem. Mass shootings have been happening for decades. Neither political party seems to be able to fix it. Everyone keeps yelling that we need to do "something" but nobody seems to know exactly what that "something" is. What something would be is the weakening of the NRA. There are far too many guns on the streets. More guns means more gun related deaths. I don't know how anyone could conclude anything else.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 10:30 AM) Not quite. if a robber looks at 5 people and knows that 3 of them are armed, he might think twice about robbing ANY of them. if he looks at them and knows which 3 are armed, he can either go for the soft targets or just go guns blazing at the hard targets. So what did the guy in the church do? Seems he didn't know what anyone had and he went in guns blazing at every target.

I am really surprised Trump didn't blame Obama for the Air Force error, and then blamed him for this entire episode. He really can't now since he has already said extreme vetting wouldn't have stopped this.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) And when they DID control congress, what did we get? Not a damn thing. And yes, I love guns. Ban bump stocks all you want. I don't care, the NRA even doesn't care. They are stupid and unreliable. You want gun control? Start by enforcing the laws on the books. Straw purchasing is a very big thing, and is rarely prosecuted for some reason. it would seem like a slam dunk for DA's, but maybe they think it is a waste of time? You will hear stories about one or two gun shops int he suburbs where a lot of 'chicago' gun s come from. The stores have been repeatedly investigated and yet are still open. ATF is notorious for fining and even closing down stores for minor paperwork problems, yet these stores are still here. That means there has to be a ton of straw purchasing going on. Looks like a good place to start. Earlier someone complained that there weren't any electronic records kept. You know damn well that those would be used and abused by people with an agenda if there were to exist. You have proof of that in NYC where someone got a hold of a gun registry in NY and published it for all to see. it's nobody's business what i have unless I feel like telling them. Hasn't one of the big arguments the NRA has used is people won't mess with you if they know you are packing? The safest place to be is somewhere everyone is armed? Why wouldn't you want them to know your entire stash? They would never bother you.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 09:43 AM) http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/sen-feinste...ory?id=50276506 What did the republicans do about it besides thoughts and prayers?
-
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 09:30 AM) Nobody did anything about about it because as usual Democratic politicians tried to over reach. Instead of just banning bump stocks they crafted their legislation so broadly that merely replacing a trigger spring would be a violation. If someone named Abdul Zaire-Aziz shot up a church, but came here when he was 2 years old, 25 years ago, the reaction would be different than thoughts and prayer, let's not make this political. . The fact that this guy had access to weapons that allowed him to do what he did is a gigantic issue that will be ignored because of him being American and white. Just the price you pay when shooting s*** is fun.

White Sox unlikely to chase big free agents

Now is not the time, but at some point, it will be time. Tearing it all down and building it up can work, but it also can fail. There are several teams in the process now. The Cubs, Astros, Yankees, Red Sox...there can't be 6 or 7 dynasties. What the White Sox have the others do not, is potentially a big economic advantage in their division. Now with Illich gone, Detroit is going to have lower payrolls. KC won't ever be too large. Minnesota will never have a payroll all that high. Cleveland will have issues, even when they are winning. The Cubs rebuild into a "dynasty" required a couple of fortunate trades and spending a lot of cash. Next year and/or the year after, JR will open the wallet. The Sox will have a better idea where their prospects are at, and what they are going to be. Hopefully, many will reach their potential. It's just fact some of these rebuilds are going to spectacularly fail. -
Extreme vetting only works with non white people. It wouldn't have made a difference in this last tragedy. It only would have hurt because the guy that shot the perp while he was running away might not have had a gun and more would have been killed, according to the Supreme Ruler wannabe. Why have any gun laws at all? Make it the Wild, wild west again. People don't shoot people with guns. You never see gang members get shot do you? They are packing. Instead of the $4k "raise" everyone is going to get, give everyone a gun and enough ammo for a lifetime. Violence problem solved.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 6, 2017 -> 02:48 PM) Rand Paul's neighbor attacked him at his home, breaking five of his ribs. That's crazy. Not a fan of Rand Paul, but I feel for him, and physical violence doesn't solve anything. I cracked a rib once. It's about as much pain as I have ever been in. I couldn't imagine 5. He's probably hopped up on some meds right now.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 6, 2017 -> 02:12 PM) Donna Brazile dedicates her book to Seth Rich and took actions to protect herself following his death. It is strange that Brazile would take measures to protect herself after a coworker was killed in an alleged botched robbery. I don't think one coworker being a victim of a robbery would make another coworker more likely to experience a robbery. If they travel in the same areas they would. We have had 2 muggings within feet of my front door the last 2 months. One a neighbor was followed from his car, beaten over his head and they took his keys and his car. Saturday night there was an incident with a gun. The details haven't come out but the perps were arrested and the gun was recovered. It has made me take measures to protect myself. I've never had a friend or co-worker murdered, but if they were, I think, at least initially, it's natural to become more vigilant. It's a wake up call that something bad can happen to you. But I'm sure you think it's a reference to a conspiracy and Hillary was going to murder them all. At some point, I think you will have to see the ridiculousness of all the Hillary conspiracies you seem so gung ho about.

A Russian lawyer who met with President Donald Trump’s oldest son last year says he indicated that a law targeting Russia could be re-examined if his father won the election and asked her for written evidence that illegal proceeds went to Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Yes, it was all about adoption. Send Jr. to jail, although I am sure he will be pardoned. But hey, Hillary. NO COLLUSION. NONE. FAKE NEWS. Yet at least 9 member of Trump's campaign team have been busted talking to Russians. At first, not one had. LOCK THEM UP

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 6, 2017 -> 07:37 AM) Bears open as 3 point favorites vs. Green Bay, the first time they are favored over them since December 2008 Hub said the other day, the Bears should be favored to win all their remaining games except 1.
