QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 17, 2017 -> 10:46 AM) "Joke" seems pretty unlikely since he asked everyone else to leave the room before making this "joke" Yeah, he had Pence and Sessions leave the room to joke with Comey about getting the investigation off Flynn. The real jokes are the people who come up with these excuses.

QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ May 17, 2017 -> 10:23 AM) We are experts on hindsight and complaining here The scary part is all of the posters who apparently think they know more about prospects than the White Sox, yet want the White Sox to go into a total rebuild.

When LaTroy was with the Cubs, he lived in a building right where LaSalle and Clark meet on the south end of Lincoln Park. My friend lived on the same floor, and LaTroy had 2 apartments. One was just filled with shoes.

QUOTE (bmags @ May 17, 2017 -> 09:44 AM) Eh, I don't agree with this. Sox aren't only in the business of peddling garbage. They gave up a potentially good player in Tatis, who at his age had high variability of success or failure. Same with Allen. They didn't know ALlen would fail. They don't know Tatis isn't that special. They traded potential with very high uncertainty for certain production. Happens all the time. But this trade, they just happened to bring on a pitcher with a lot of warning signs, that gave them some of the worst production in the game, and lost a potential long-term piece. Sucks. Don't ever do it again hahn. Don't see many amateur scouts complaining about Tatis Jr. before the trade, or when it was made. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...9431&st=400

QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 17, 2017 -> 08:03 AM) If you get enough Brandon Allens you'll get an all star, which is the point of trades in a rebuild. You need 2/3 prospects per position. It would be gold if the Sox could trade a middle reliever with the credentials of Tony Pena (ERA above 4; WHIP above 1.5) for a prospect with the credentials of Brandon Allen. But the Sox can't trade with themselves. Not surprisingly, Pena pitched as badly for the Sox as he did for Arizona. No one knows what Tatis will become, just like no one knew what Allen would become. But with the Sox scrambling to load up with top prospects, giving one away (and apparently not realizing what you gave away) is just galling. The White Sox apparently knew what they were giving away in Brandon Allen. .203/.290/..375 12 homers 35.2% k rate. Star. I suspect they know what they gave away in Tatis. It's guys like you who don't. Forgive me if I do not respect your scouting skills. I noticed you don't whine about the Kahnle trade much anymore.

Putin offering Congress their notes on the meeting. How nice. I guess it will score him points with Trump, and probably the only reason why he bothered. Trump will think he is his buddy.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 16, 2017 -> 05:06 PM) it's probably all fake news anyway. That's probably why the Senate Intelligence Chairman is outsourcing oversight to the media. For some reason, if it was Hillary, I believe Burr would not say the same thing.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 16, 2017 -> 03:00 PM) Israeli Official: Trump Sharing Intelligence With Russia Is "Worst Fears Confirmed" The Russians may use this information not totally in the US or Israel's favor? Just like health care being difficult, and BS'ing your way around a Muslin ban, and China now not being currency malipulators, and not building a wall when you say go, and not having who knew? Russia is our friend. They tell Trump how great he is. He hands over the keys to the store. For the love of God GOP, wake the f*** up and get rid of this guy ASAP.

May 15th Game Thread; White Sox at LAAOA

QUOTE (ptatc @ May 16, 2017 -> 07:15 AM) Not sure I agree with this. He can't keep going to the bullpen in the 5th inning 2/5 in the rotation. He tried to save the bullpen some as well i think. Those were his words, not mine. I agree, you have to get more than what he is getting innings wise out of Pelfrey and Covey. But the signs were there it was coming apart, and it is amazing how bad he's been the 3rd time around. Guys don't hit that well in batting practice. -
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 16, 2017 -> 08:15 AM) I was at that alarm clock game and it was a pretty decent crowd. They said the attendance was like 29,000 and change but it seemed like more than that. Not a sellout, but one of the busiest games I've been to in awhile. There were many there for free. 2 rain outs, and they gave away free tickets for April and May games from last year. They didn't count those towards the total. But like you said, there were significantly more in the house than the 29k..
-
I wonder how they count the rain outs in the attendance since the games won't be made up with their own gate. They count paid attendance. People using their tickets for the rain out don't count toward it. The attendance for alarm clock night was just shy of 30k. I would guarantee there were closer to 35k in the house. So if they have already counted the 2 rain out paid attendances in their figures without using a date, they are behind, and they will be behind, although there is something to the Cubs success helping the White Sox. It does get more people interested in baseball, and going to a Sox game is probably 75% cheaper if not more.

QUOTE (ron883 @ May 15, 2017 -> 11:24 PM) Nice diversion bro. Nobody clamored Brandon Allen as a future all-star quit spreading fake news. Nobody ever said Brandon Allen was a future all star. Maybe you could find one overzealous fan who said Ravelo. That's some funny stuff right there. BS. If you can find the Brandon Allen trade thread, there definitely was a post guaranteeing him a future all star.

3rd time facing Pelfrey this year, opponents are 9 for 12, 2 doubles, a triple, and 2 homers. Renteria took the blame for the loss. He said he went against his better judgement and was trying to do something for the player before the team. -

QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ May 12, 2017 -> 05:03 PM) Nothing is going right for Kevin White these days. https://sports.yahoo.com/news/bears-wr-kevi...-145320164.html He got it back. In other news, 2 AFC scouts told Moon Mullin, Trubisky was their highest graded QB in 6 drafts. Higher than Luck , Winston, Marriota, Newton.Wentz.... -
QUOTE (flavum @ May 15, 2017 -> 12:39 PM) I wonder if Soto goes on the 60-day...have a feeling he's toast for a while. That is exactly what happened. Soto surgery, out minimum 12 weeks. The Sox got exactly what anyone would expect out of Soto, some homers, some painful throws back to the pitcher, and extended stays on the DL.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 15, 2017 -> 02:41 PM) I actually hope so. The media jumping on this "LeBron is close to Jordan" stuff going around now is nauseating (although if Cleveland beats this Warriors team...). Unless GS has some injuries, they had a couple last year, no way they get beat. This season was over before it began. It is nice to watch a team like that play basketball, but just like Jordan's Bulls, when they are playing well, it's not much of a game, no matter who they are playing.

Even Ann Coulter thinks Trump has been a disaster. Failing presidency. Sad.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 15, 2017 -> 12:19 PM) Infante's only major league time was with the Sox in 2010. Wonder what the record is for longest gap between first year and second year in the bigs? He has to be close. He also has a career ERA of 0.00.

QUOTE (ron883 @ May 15, 2017 -> 08:54 AM) I'm pretty sure very few people said any of this. They are worse than Jose Abreu. I'm sure Tatis Jr. will be worse than Jose Abreu. In your world, that has to be near impossible.

QUOTE (oldsox @ May 15, 2017 -> 08:08 AM) C'mon, Josh. This was such an obvious waste of financial resources when the trade came down. We were doing the Padres a Huge favor by taking whatshisname off their hands. Granted, Tatis, Jr. had not yet played in the states, but Sox scouted him, paid him a bunch of money, and before we knew it, he is a legitimate prospect. And granted, the name Luis Robert was not yet on our lips, but there was a lot of talk about signing international talent. There were members here who criticized the trade immediately, not necessarily because of the Tatis inclusion, but because of the other half of the trade. So $25 million is nothing if Tim Anderson sucks. $50 million is nothing if the Sox spend that to sign Luis Robert and he doesn't pan out, but $25 million for Shields is a franchise changer. As far as I am concerned, Tatis is a suspect until proven otherwise. For a fanbase that complains, rightfully so, about an organizations inability to produce hitters, we sure do whine a lot about the guys "who got away". Everytime they trade a position minor leaguer, he is a guaranteed stud. Yet reality shows, they are just as bad with other teams. If Tatis is good as Keith Law said he is, correction, as good scout told Keith Law who has admitted he had never seen Tatis play, then the trade will be really bad. Why don't we wait to see how that turns out? It started with Chris Carter on this board. Someone actually complained in 2008 when Quentin was in the mist of a possible MVP, how trading Carter for him would come back to haunt the White Sox. Then Brandon Allen was a guaranteed future all star. Semien, Ravelo, Thompson, all stars. They are all high k low OBP guys most below average in the field. No big loss on anyone yet. Eventually someone will hurt, but I wouldn't hold my breath it is Tatis. He is hitting .250 with a .712 OPS in A ball and a 31.33% k rate. Yes, he's 18, and young for the level, but if he truly is a top 50 prospect, IMO, more should be expected. To me, one of the first red flags for guys deemed top prospects is the excuse young for the level. It was the excuse for Courtney Hawkins several years ago. Obviously, Tatis is doing a bit better, but Hawkins won't ever come close to the major leagues, and probably won't make, at least doesn't deserve to make AAA. The really good ones find a way.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 13, 2017 -> 08:45 PM) This was the dumbest thing ever. He tried to sneak into a game without a ticket, got kicked out, some other guy brought him back in with no ticket and he got kicked out again. Dude was at 5(!!!) games last week and got kicked out once. Cubs owe him nothing, he isn't a free customer People do give him their extra for nothing. He lives in a senior retirement building a few blocks from me. I see him at 7-11 all the time with his full Cubs uniform. He got free teeth, people take him home with them. He was busted several years ago in Schaumburg for wooing in someone's backyard at 2 AM. He doesn't appear to be clever enough to sneak in all the time. I am guessing at one point they used to let him in, and the policy changed. But I agree, I don't see what the argument is if you don't have a ticket. I guess that they are checking him and no one else. Now what will happen is someone will give them their ticket after they are in. Producing a ticket won't be hard, the question is with all the security you have to go through, how is it this guy is supposedly sneaking in, iMO, it should make he Cubs look bad from that angle. I am also pretty sure they are targeting him.
