QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 19, 2017 -> 03:07 PM) Trump's nominee for #2 at Treasury just bowed out citing "family reasons." Trump still has 452 Executive Branch positions with no nominee named. Who would want to attach themselves to this dumpster fire at this point? He doesn't have time to nominate anyone, he's making great deals while he's watching Fox News and golfing. I really am surprised he goes after CNN so much. Everytime I go to our break room for some water, the TV is on CNN and the headline below almost always has Trump in it somewhere.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 19, 2017 -> 03:00 PM) He's going to be a good player. Easily one of the worst trades in Sox history to this point, especially if they get outbid for Robert He is going to have to be a pretty decent major leaguer to be one of the worst trades in team history. A ball now, that's a long way away. , and Erik Johnson put up an ERA a bit over 9.00 for them last year before having surgery.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 19, 2017 -> 02:41 PM) Elijah Cummings: Either Pence is lying or was 'running a sloppy shop' What did the Vice President know, and when did he know it? That's right, either way he's wrong. If he knew, WTF? If he didn't know, why the f*** not? Maybe former President Bannon kept him out of the loop.

QUOTE (FT35 @ May 19, 2017 -> 01:33 PM) It IS very odd. Although like someone else said...it's tough to compete with a LeBron-led NBA playoff championship-caliber product this time of year. The years before LeBron came back were tough teams to sell tickets for, but the recent years the Indians started to get good again--LeBron was somewhat of a factor. Be interesting to see their attendance numbers after the all-star break when LeBron is rocking his tribe hat in a luxury suite and the the MLB post-season push comes back. In 2013 they won 92 games and made the WC. Lebron was in Miami. The Indians drew more than 100,000 less than the White Sox lowest total this century, and every couple of months we read on this site how the White Sox have to move. It is the risk of getting very bad. The fans find something else to do, and they don't come back.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ May 19, 2017 -> 01:21 PM) But you know that a team like the Cavs would get a good pick and then you've just compounded the problem. I don't like the wheel idea because you could get screwed on a s***ty draft year. At least now that s***ty draft year for the bad team means that the following year they have another shot at it because they'll be bad. In the wheel scenario you're stuck waiting another 6 seasons before you have a shot at really good talent. Maybe do a lottery for the first 4 or 5 picks, then go in order of horridness. And leave the 4 conference finalists or the 8 conference semi-finalists out of it. It might keep teams from totally tanking. You'll never get rid of all of it. Cuban said once they were eliminated, they wanted to lose as much as possible. I understand it, but there is something fundamentally wrong with it. You're basically legally throwing games.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ May 19, 2017 -> 01:02 PM) You know who says this? Everyone but the NBA. The NBA is just fine being top heavy. They always have been. Come playoff time, when the real money from TV is made, they get monster ratings from having Cavs v. Warriors part 3 instead of Blazers v. Bucks. I think the NBA would like the real s*** franchises (Sacramento, Minnesota, Orlando, Phoenix, etc) to occasionally be good and make it to the playoffs so that their fanbases stay engaged, but if there's only a handful of teams with legitimate shots at the title, they're fine with that too. I wish something was done to motivate teams to win, and give the teams like the Bulls, the NBA hell guys, some sort of shot even with GarPax calling the shots. Of course I probably didn't feel that way when the Bulls were picking top 3 every year. What would really be interesting if they made the lottery open to all teams with the same odds, 1st round draft pick trades would probably go way down unless the guy was an absolute star.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 19, 2017 -> 11:25 AM) It's funny how the Reds pitching staff can so easily cure what ails a struggling baseball club. In other news, A 42-year old Wheaton man died after falling over a railing at Wrigley http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2017/05/18/aut...-wrigley-field/ That is sad. I'm thinking he had to be trashed. If you fell, the first thing you would do is try to make sure you didn't land head first and there should be time to accomplish that. He apparently landed on his head.

QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ May 19, 2017 -> 11:08 AM) By keeping Jimmy and Wade staying, we're locked in for that 15-18th pick for the next couple years. With no decent pick in draft, no competent FO to get the most trade value out of Jimmy, Bulls are stuck in this purgatory for at least the next 5 years or so. Unless we sign Blake Griffin and a competent PG this summer, this team will not change its fortune. And if Wade comes back, unless Griffin wants to play for the Bulls at an exception not going to happen. The Bulls decided 8th seeds are fun.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 19, 2017 -> 11:48 AM) Have something to do with another Cleveland team going far into the playoffs and possibly weather? This is a team that had some 500 + game sellout streak, then they sucked and even though they have had several good teams since, never recovered attendance-wise.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ May 19, 2017 -> 11:00 AM) I do remember that he, Jacque Jones and one other African-American player said when they were on the Cubs they were the target of racial slurs from out of the Wrigley bleachers / stands. Somewhere, Curt Schilling was and is calling BS.

QUOTE (joejoedairy @ May 19, 2017 -> 08:43 AM) Cooper 6 IP 1ER 7 Hits, 2 Walks 4 Ks. good start. FIP will go up though. May walked 4 times Lassiter 4/4 with a HR Booker 2/4 with 2 doubles. Yes. Next time anyone wants to possibly think a hot week or two in AAA merits promotion, remember this: Jacob May .339/.422/.452 Jacob May White Sox .056/.150/.056

So Rosenstein told senators he knew the day before that letter was written Comey would be fired. Trump has contradicted himself many times on this subject already.

Nothing is easier or more pathetic than being a critic-Trump during his commencement speech. That is comedy gold coming from him. Reality doesn't exist in his world.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 18, 2017 -> 02:56 PM) Meanwhile: Sen. Lindsey Graham: Congress should abandon Russia investigation, go back to Clinton’s emails It's good to know elected officials know exactly what to spend their time on. How do people re-elect these idiots?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 18, 2017 -> 02:26 PM) Regardless of how all of this plays out for Trump, it's revealed some pretty significant flaws in our system. We have no good system for removing someone who's actually guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors and cannot carry out the functions of their office as well as anyone else that may be implicated. There really should be provisions for special elections in this case. If, hypothetically, Trump were to be impeached for his campaign colluding with Russia, it's absurd that we'd end up with a President Pence or Ryan. If Trump resigned, would Ivanka and President Jared stay on?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 18, 2017 -> 02:15 PM) I remember 16 hours ago when the WH message as how Not Mad he was about the special counsel It's the second or third time in a week his tweets (where he first b****ed about this) totally contradicted the official WH message. Electoral College is totally slanted to the Democrats. So we have his excuse if he lost. Of course, he was within 3 million of winning the popular vote. But this does expose a divided country. Who knew? Everybody was on board with Trump.

The authorities must think the car ramming the people in Times Square is a terrorist action. Our company has an office right around there, and they can't leave the building and were told to stay away from the windows. Edit, now I read it was just a guy with a history of DWI. Nevermind.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 18, 2017 -> 10:04 AM) As investigators circled Flynn, he got a message from Trump: Stay strong Trump is on record as saying Flynn did nothing wrong.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ May 18, 2017 -> 09:20 AM) The secret plan was to ask the generals to make a plan. They did, and it's been sitting on his desk for months. He said he knows more than the generals. Now he knows all about health care. Even though he may seem to have heath insurance and life insurance mixed up, you get a job when you are 20 and pay $15 a month for the rest of your life. Its so easy. Believe me.

What would be funny would be what Trump would be tweeting if he lost the election and this stuff was going on with Hillary. I'm pretty sure he would have a different view. He still wouldn't know what he is doing but IMO, hitching his horse to Bannon is the reason he is in deep s***. I think it has exposed Trump even more. The guy knows nothing about issues, the only things he will read is about himself, and apparently he is easily manipulated. Just keep praising him, you'll eventually get what you want. I'm still waiting for him to easily destroy ISIS. What ever happened to his secret plan?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 17, 2017 -> 05:44 PM) Never happened, never would happen, ridiculous. But, but, but, we have a recording. Oh that. Yeah, he was just joking.

QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ May 17, 2017 -> 10:55 AM) Just in here to comment again on how awful the playoffs have been. I don't even regularly look at scores anymore or know who's playing, all I know is GS vs. CLE in finals with GS likely winning. Which... we could have predicted months and months ago. BOOOOORRRRRRING I think lower than a 3rd seed has won the NBA championship 2 times ever.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 17, 2017 -> 01:43 PM) I guess if you have the money you can totally rent out a second place for storage. Yeah, but I think if you have a second place just for shoes, you have to be a douchebag, even if you're a nice guy. TBH, I have heard only good things about LaTroy Hawkins the person.
