  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 09:29 AM) People from both sides of the aisle should understand how sketchy this is Unfortunately, that requirement eliminates one side.
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 08:29 AM) I haven't really seen anyone make a solid argument or any argument at all that Comey's personal memos would be classified or privileged communication beyond the surface level conflation of "leaks!" It'll be interesting to see how this and the broader defense of "Comey is a lying liar who lies except about the parts that were not-bad for me, those are all 100% true" defense they're running with. Yes, it's hysterical. The former director, UNDER OATH, called the POTUS a liar 5 times. Ignored. Hillary, emails, Lynch...WOW BOMBSHELL, credible source. Said Trump wasn't being investigated, PROOF, this is OVA, end this now. Everything else, nothing but lies and incompetence. Comey admitted he was a bit of a coward and didn't press Trump. Hopefully the rest of the GOP doesn't do the same thing, but it certainly appears that's what they want to do.
  3. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 07:28 AM) Who with better knowledge can detail the difference in getting the #1 versus getting the #4 pick in the draft. Is there a big drop off from the prospective #1 and #4? I don't think at this point anyone really knows, but there doesn't seem to be a clear cut ARod or Ken Griffey Jr. yet. If the Sox get a top 5 pick, they will most likely draft someone that a lot of people would rank as #1.
  4. I wonder how many people charged with crimes ever go back and use the "they said I wasn't a suspect" before they arrested me defense.
  5. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 02:47 PM) Facts don't matter. Sadly, I'm not even kidding. It's out there, and the Fox News types will run with it and keep repeating it. But, decidedly not "fake news." Alternative facts are still facts. They just aren't true.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 01:53 PM) I'm sure many of you (not saying you unless you confirm it) can't see the hypocrisy in the Comey situation. Before election: Comey EVIL for what he did to Hillary; after election "that Comey seems like a great guy." It also works the other way around. He was great, had a lot of guts, now a lying sack of s***. Trump of all people called him a showboat. One thing to keep in mind, Trump thought he could trick the Dems when he fired this guy by saying he wasn't fair to Hillary as the initial excuse. The excuse changed several times, until Trump admitted on national television he fired him because of the Russia investigation. This won't be Trump's downfall. Impeachment is political and republicans won't launch him, but its going to tie up a lot of things for a long time. Trump loves to point out ratings. I wonder why he never mentions his. Sad.
  7. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 12:02 PM) Do you disagree that she needed to STFU and let the guy answer the question she asked? http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_pol...nna_finish.html Joe being told to shut up https://www.yahoo.com/news/california-senat...-001638791.html Dems on a state level doing the same to a woman. Why do you guys always say what dems are horrible, destroying everything, yet justify poor behavior because previously a dem did it somewhere? If you are so superior, acting like a dem shouldn't be tolerated, and certainly shouldn't be brought up as a free pass.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 11:01 AM) When the best defense is to claim the guy was too dumb to know what he is doing. Thats a good sign he shouldnt have the job Exactly. I knew that they would use it as an excuse. Sorry, not in this position.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 10:49 AM) Fox is going to do nothing but focus on the fact that Comey leaked his notes and that Trump wasnt under investigation at the time of the questions. Most people are going to see that Russia was involved, the president lies and has been obstructing justice, Sessions was involved directly with Russia It would be interesting to see the difference if they could record all of this, erase everyone's memory, make Hillary the President, and have the exact same thing occur. The coverage, not just at Fox, would be so different.
  10. Donny Jr. is live tweeting. Not going so well for him, of course he doesn't think any of this is credible. Donald Trump is even a bigger buffoon than I ever imagined.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 09:00 AM) Richard Clarke has become kind of a crank, so I'd take it with a grain of salt, but clearly the investigation into the meetings has been followed. Yes, but this interview really wasn't much about his opinion. He went over how they confirm intel from outside sources, which seemed pretty standard. Admittedly, he did throw his opinion out on the British spy who got this intel, said he was highly respected, but if he was told what he claimed, that's really isn't him being dramatic just to be dramatic.
  12. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 06:55 AM) Can confirm. My boss at my last company I worked for lives (maybe he moved out since?) in the same building as him and like 6 other Cubs players (it's a block from the stadium so it makes sense for some of the younger guys). And I feel like adultery/cheating seems pretty obvious when players (any sports) are on the road anywhere from 7-10 months of the year. Isn't that why one of the reasons Josh Fields wanted to retire after like his first year with us? I agree. If you only cheered for the guys who didn't cheat on their wives, you wouldn't like many guys. I always thought it was bizarre Tiger Woods got crucified for cheating on his wife. He is far from the exception to the rule.
  13. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 08:08 AM) Is there still hype for this? It seems like everyone already knows what he is going to testify to. The temperature I get on this is that there isn't going to be any bombshell that comes out of it and Trump will come out miraculously unscathed as he always does. I try to stay away from following this stuff too closely because it makes my blood boil and there is nothing I can do about it so maybe I have the wrong read on this. It isn't going to happen overnight, and I don't think Comey's testimony will be Trump's undoing, but it will be a part. There is a lot of s*** going on. I think the guy's name is Richard Clarke, a former intel guy with 4 administrations. He was on yesterday, and they were asking him about the hookers and peeing dossier, and how the US intel could confirm it, and he went through what they would do, and at the end threw out a, from what I've been told, most of it has already been confirmed. For a guy who is willing to throw just about anyone under a bus, it is weird Trump's exceptions are Putin and Flynn.
  14. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 08:11 AM) Its going to be really interesting to get a bunch of eyes on his game. The scouting reports should become a lot clearer in the near future of what this guy may be capable of. We have been going off very little so far. He hasn't played in a year. His first couple of games, I think there will be overreaction either way.
  15. I wonder if this will live up to the hype, but if it does, will the bigger show be Comey's testimony or Trump's live tweeting?
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 06:59 AM) Michael was 1-9 without Scottie his first three years and lost to the same Detroit team 3 years on a row until they got old in '91. You telling me throughout that entire 6-year period MJ never made a questionable basketball play? GMAB. MJ is so f***ing lucky he came up when he came up. Now you're just trolling. MJ didn't lose when he got to the Finals. I like Lebron unlike many, but he is no MJ. First off, MJ would never have fled to Miami to get a ring. Ever. And MJ never lost in the Finals. Comparing his teams performance in 1986 vs. the Cavs now, is hysterical. I don't think MJ could do much more than drop 63 on the Celtics. If you want to say that loss is on him, go ahead. MJ and the Bulls would have shook this Cavs team, which has you shook. What a time to be alive.
  17. Yeah Rodon sucks. Why didn't they draft a .210 hitting strike out machine who can't play defense? Nice job KW and RH.
  18. Dioner Navarro was playing with a lot on his mind last year. I read where his wife had a brain aneurysm during spring training. She then had a major stroke after the season and almost died. I hope everything turns out OK for them.
  19. The next couple of days should be interesting https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/nation...m=.9d5b00a51713
  20. Pruitt said they have added about 50,000 coal mining jobs since the 4th quarter last year. That number is slightly off. They added 1,000. For all the importance these idiots are putting on coal, more people work at Disney World than are coal miners. Considering Trump saved millions of jobs and billions of dollars during his recent trip, maybe he can find the coal miners alternative employment.
  21. Looks like the Buehrle retirement game is going to sell out. Less than 200 tickets available on Ticketmaster.
  22. If that is the real America and the Trumps are patriotic, why don't they all move there? Security will be a lot cheaper. I'm guessing they don't want to live in what they would call the real America.
  23. Hostetler was talking at Soxfest about these huge swing and miss guys with 1st round talent. He said 1 in 5 make it. Hawkins wasn't the 1.
  24. It's also amazing that the meetings with Russians were "forgotten" by everyone in the Trump administration when they were in confirmation hearings, and in security clearancs, and only "remembered" when the dying, sad, fake news publication, the NYT, reminded them of it.
