  1. I will miss Hawk. I read on here he is a grumpy old man with a huge ego, and then you meet him on a road trip and he couldn't be more friendly. It appears he is going out on his terms. It is really going to hit me at the end of this season because it appears he will be doing Home day games and I have a weekend package, and a job. I may only get to hear him a couple of times next year.
  2. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ May 31, 2017 -> 02:39 PM) I'm not really invested on either side here, but seeing a prop of your dad's cut off head is probably not a great experience, even if he knows it's fake and just a prop. The kid went through the last 2 years having his dad in the news on a nightly basis, most of which was very negative. I'm sure that's a pretty f***ed up situation to go through for an 11 year old kid. Sure, they're milking it for that angle, but let's not completely ignore the possibility that the kid saw it and had a reaction to it. Also, I have 2 young kids and can attest that they get sick all the time. I'm sure some of your co-employees abuse the system, but many aren't. If they are so worried he may see or hear something about his dad he might not like, why would they let him watch TV unsupervised? It's pretty easy to find Trump bashing on TV. Except for Fox News, it's everywhere. I feel for the kid. But Trump has sought the spotlight. He shoves people out of the way to get there. That's the life he chose. If he wants to shelter his kid from it, there are ways to do it. Keep the kid out of it. It shouldn't be poor Barron. He is going to have it tough enough. At least half the kids he goes to school with are going to have parents that think his father is an ass.
  3. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 31, 2017 -> 01:44 PM) Yeah totally. Not to belittle the Montanans (I think that's what you call them), but it would take one of their political candidates bodyslamming for someone to talk about one of their elections. You're not wrong but it's a bit pedantic. I wasn't equivocating what either of them did. I was saying when an individual who is on one side of the spectrum does something stupid other people from that party shouldn't have to answer for him. Then again most people are more into partisanship than the actual exchange of beliefs and ideas so that's just my opinion. I think it's fair to believe any 11 year old (age?) would be upset at seeing a model of their parents severed head covered in blood. You could put your hatred behind you on this one. Any public figure who goes through something publicly upsetting mentions their kids in their press conference or whatever. I think we can at least afford our goof of a president that much. It has nothing to do with hatred. How could a son mistake that prop for his dad? Look at it. He isn't 3 or 4, he's 11. It was BS. He was watching his cartoons or whatever and suddenly that came on. OK. Entering your kid into the story is usually not a good thing. Trump seemed to not mind Obama had young daughters at home when he with through all his Obama s***. I work for a company that started a couple of years ago letting people work from home once in a while. You wouldn't believe how often kids are now sick. 40-50 days a year at least. If they took away the work from home, they would be doing the kids a favor with their health. But no one dares question the legitimacy of kids being sick all the time. The Barron story doesn't add up. That is plain to see. Again, what she did was disgusting, but getting the kid involved is for Trump's personal gain.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 31, 2017 -> 01:09 PM) I listen to Rush sometimes when I'm in the car at lunch hour. I get a kick out of a.) how he'll talk 'maybe' 2-3 minutes and then they immediately 'have to go' to a commercial and wonder how the hell people can listen to a whole program with so many commercials. b.) i am amazed by those those commercials in which that the host reads a testimonial statement in which he endorses the quack product and pretends sometimes he uses the product. That's all you need to know about the host. That he's endorsing some company that will get the IRS off your back or some such ripoff product. Sure. Anything for a buck. Even my idol, Howard Stern, reads these bulls*** ads. If no commercial is on when I click on Rush's show and I'm in the car driving to lunch, yeah I'm a fan of his takes. BTW: TMZ reports: "Trump family sources tell us Barron was in front of the TV watching a show when the news came on and he saw the bloody, beheaded image. We're told he panicked and screamed, "Mommy, Mommy!" As it was put to us, "He's 11. He doesn't know who Kathy Griffin is and the head she was holding resembled his dad." Melania called out Kathy, saying what she did was disturbing, wrong and "makes you wonder about [her] mental health." President Trump also blasted Griffin for posing with the head, saying, Barron was having a hard time dealing with it." Hmmm ... fishy. He was watching a TV show then the news mysteriously came on with the Griffin story?? I doubt that. First of all, what TV show is going to show the bloody picture? Even TMZ doesn't believe their story. IMO if that story was true, Trump should be more offended at Barron for thinking that thing was him than at Griffin for her tasteless act. I am all for keeping the kid out of it. Trump and his advisors should do the same. What's next, Barron was watching Bill Maher and he said mean things about his dad. The show should be cancelled for the kid's sake.
  5. She is from Oak Park. I used to work with somebody who went to high school with her and knew her pretty well. He said she was actually pretty nice. Seems like she would be annoying to me.
  6. CNN canned her from their fake New Year's Eve broadcast.
  7. So Trump tried to hint Barron was affected by it. Did they show it to him or did he find it on his own? If he found it on his own, I'm sure he would have easily found the grab em by the p**** stuff. What was his take on that? Personally, while I think the entire thing was wrong, I think Trump is using his kid for sympathy. That is also disgusting. Maybe not as much, but disgusting.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 31, 2017 -> 10:15 AM) https://www.yahoo.com/news/president-trump-...-120257785.html Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself,” Trump tweeted early Wednesday. “My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!” Fox News can probably milk this for ten days...including a boycott of CNN. I wonder if he thought about the Obama girls when he was going through his birther BS.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ May 31, 2017 -> 08:46 AM) I love Q, but he isn't having a couple bad games. He's having a bad year. His ERA was about what his career ERA is at the moment he got lit up in AZ after 3 scoreless, hitless frames. Pretty much his last 4 innings has raised his ERA almost 2.00. It was 3.72 before he imploded. But the strikeout guys should love it. His k rate the last 2 outings is terrific.
  10. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 31, 2017 -> 08:35 AM) It's impossible to have a legitimate opinion on whether or not to trade Quintana without knowing the offers on the table -- both during this past offseason and during the coming trade deadline season. That said, we DO need more prospects. We have a lot of good ones now, but not nearly enough to account for attrition. As much I love Quintana, we're not to the point where we can start looking at current stars and realistically expecting them to be stars for our next contender. We very much still need to be in asset collection mode if we're going to do this the right way. Of course. And there was very little info on actual offers. All I ever saw was player x wasn't on the table. . Hahn said there never was anything even close. Whether that is true or not is anyone's guess as well, but it's hard to say he should have been traded if you have no idea what was coming back.
  11. Q is going through a rough patch. He'll be fine. It's amazing, you have a couple of bad games and that is now what you are, ignoring the past. Avi has had a good 2 months, but he is still what he was in the past. Why do people prefer to take the suck side of things so often? More often than not, moving toward the mean occurs. Q is still a very valuable pitcher.
  12. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ May 31, 2017 -> 01:11 AM) Just imagine the uproar if a conservative would have done this with Obama's head. I saw a tweet that is true for this as well. If Kathy Griffiin wants to shock people she should try to actually be funny. Oh, like these? http://www.wthr.com/article/boone-county-r...g-obama-display https://thinkprogress.org/2-fans-dressed-up...tay-895625d224d What she did was disgusting. But it is funny how the right still thinks it treated Obama with the utmost respect, and is oblivious to all the BS they did.
  13. Need a few more baserunners, hopefully for a shot to win but at the very least get Davidson a shot at a golden Sombrero. Edit he already has it. A 5 k night would be legendary
  14. Jennings has been awful. I think warming up every game and pitch g in a lot of them may have caught up to him.
  15. Everyone has hit the ball pretty well this inning. Rare against Sale.
  16. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 30, 2017 -> 08:46 PM) He certainly overmatched by Sale but guess he has never seen him before Melky and Avi the only guys who had ever faced Sale in a real game until tonight
  17. QUOTE (JoshPR @ May 30, 2017 -> 08:31 PM) Hung another breaking ball. Theyre sitting on it dufus Full count. Get me over time.
  18. Q's problem is for some reason he isn't trusting his stuff. Nibble, nibble, nibble. Tries to be too fine, is forced to lay it right in there and there it hoes. Again. He will figure it out. Soon I hope.
  19. Kendall to me is left handed for Jared Mitchell. Star potential, and can do everything except make a lot of contact. I don't know how that gets better facing better pitchers. I wouldnttake him at 11.
  20. Kathy Griffin went off the deep end today. A bit too far IMO.
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 30, 2017 -> 05:16 PM) I'd be surprised if Cleveland won more than one game in this series. Unless Durant or Curry get hurt, I agree.
  22. This Tiger stuff is sad. He was hopped up on painkillers so either his back which he said felt great, doesn't. Or he has a problem with the pills. He has done some bad stuff, but haven't we all? I just wish him the best. The twitter people who get a kick out of this are pretty disgusting. I hope it was just some innocent mix up, but I have a feeling it is a little worse than that.
  23. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 30, 2017 -> 05:18 PM) "Read a f***ing book." That's good stuff. DA called and he wants his misquoted talking points back. LMAO. You posted that about Biden's family, then complained about TMZ type stories about the Trump team. That is just fact. It is hard to believe you can't see it.
  24. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ May 30, 2017 -> 02:21 PM) I suppose now would be a good time to ask Ron if he knows how many players in White Sox history have better stats than Jose Abreu through their first 2000 PA with the club, and who those guys are, and if he thinks they are awful players That is, it would be a good time to ask that if I knew this guy wasn't just trolling all of us I mean who the hell really questions the offensive prowess of a .299/.359/.515/.874 career hitter Don't jump to conclusions that he's been a good hitter. Everything points to the league has figured him out and he is DFA-worthy, which has to be the only conclusion if you take everything into account. Just because.
  25. Who really knows what the exact impact of Renteria has been. If he makes all the difference in the world, I would question what the hell he was doing last year, and from all accounts, he was doing most of the stuff he was doing this year except getting final say on running a game. Guys have improved. Of course, many couldn't get much worse. Hopefully it holds up. One thing is expectations were zero, and they have played decently. Still not .500, but there probably is at least a little less pressure, at least for the young guys. They aren't expected to win, they know if they have a bad game or 2 they will still get a chance. It seems the guys who were struggling were vets who are playing for a contract, or a guy like Anderson who is probably trying to justify his every game.
