  1. I wonder if this will live up to the hype, but if it does, will the bigger show be Comey's testimony or Trump's live tweeting?
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 06:59 AM) Michael was 1-9 without Scottie his first three years and lost to the same Detroit team 3 years on a row until they got old in '91. You telling me throughout that entire 6-year period MJ never made a questionable basketball play? GMAB. MJ is so f***ing lucky he came up when he came up. Now you're just trolling. MJ didn't lose when he got to the Finals. I like Lebron unlike many, but he is no MJ. First off, MJ would never have fled to Miami to get a ring. Ever. And MJ never lost in the Finals. Comparing his teams performance in 1986 vs. the Cavs now, is hysterical. I don't think MJ could do much more than drop 63 on the Celtics. If you want to say that loss is on him, go ahead. MJ and the Bulls would have shook this Cavs team, which has you shook. What a time to be alive.
  3. Yeah Rodon sucks. Why didn't they draft a .210 hitting strike out machine who can't play defense? Nice job KW and RH.
  4. Dioner Navarro was playing with a lot on his mind last year. I read where his wife had a brain aneurysm during spring training. She then had a major stroke after the season and almost died. I hope everything turns out OK for them.
  5. The next couple of days should be interesting https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/nation...m=.9d5b00a51713
  6. Pruitt said they have added about 50,000 coal mining jobs since the 4th quarter last year. That number is slightly off. They added 1,000. For all the importance these idiots are putting on coal, more people work at Disney World than are coal miners. Considering Trump saved millions of jobs and billions of dollars during his recent trip, maybe he can find the coal miners alternative employment.
  7. Looks like the Buehrle retirement game is going to sell out. Less than 200 tickets available on Ticketmaster.
  8. If that is the real America and the Trumps are patriotic, why don't they all move there? Security will be a lot cheaper. I'm guessing they don't want to live in what they would call the real America.
  9. Hostetler was talking at Soxfest about these huge swing and miss guys with 1st round talent. He said 1 in 5 make it. Hawkins wasn't the 1.
  10. It's also amazing that the meetings with Russians were "forgotten" by everyone in the Trump administration when they were in confirmation hearings, and in security clearancs, and only "remembered" when the dying, sad, fake news publication, the NYT, reminded them of it.
  11. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 6, 2017 -> 08:25 AM) Whoa man. I'm no die-hard Trump Hog. Just been around long enough to know Hillary pulled out the Russia card as a deflection. I bet even she is surprised at what it's become. And what evidence? Maybe I missed some. Every US intelligence agency has concluded Russia interfered. Maybe like Trump with the Generals and ISIS, as he has already proven, you know more than these agencies. It amazes me perhaps the biggest liar in political history, and that is saying something, accuses others of lying, has so many people buy his every word, and ignore his lies about everything and say they are irrelevant.
  12. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 06:47 PM) And the Russians continue to laugh at this circus. What a bonehead move it was to make public "the Russians meddled in our election". The rule is you keep that s*** under wraps because every country is trying to meddle in every other country's affairs every day. That's geopolitics par for the course. Making this into this big ongoing story is the worst thing for global democracy ever. Makes us look so stupid giving them all this press. And still no evidence anybody did anything wrong, as obviously expected. So dumb. Let's get back to helping Americans. Oh look another American politician met with a Russian politician! Oh no! Manchurian Candidate. Gimme a break. They didn't meddle. Putin cleared that up with Megyn Kelly..
  13. I wonder how many contractors want to throw a brick through their TV when they hear Trump moan about others paying their share.
  14. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 05:02 PM) What statement? I posted the video of CNN staging the set but shocker that you disagree with me and are just going to say I am wrong with some irrelevant hypothetical. If the mainstream media is so unbiased (according to the ones who make up most of the posts here), why do the consistent posters in this sub-forum (proud lefties) go to war for them without pause? The uniform and overwhelming response of jokes, elitist handwaving, distractors and outright dismissal would make it seem as if an implicit bias exists. Bringing up Lebron, O'Keefe and all of the snarl words instead of addressing the video of a bystander taping something real unfold seems like a cop out. Regardless, don't understand why most on left feel exactly the same on the issue but no one can address it - a video of CNN creating news - without pointing fingers, name calling, facetious jokes, snarl words, etc. That's why I at least respect the takes of 'illinilaw' on here and try to integrate pieces of his insight into my line of thinking even if we usually disagree. He addresses the topic at hand and is respectful. He doesn't distract. He doesn't hand wave. He doesn't use snarl words. He doesn't create imaginary scenarios that convince him of his agenda-fueled points. He just gives analysis. Before DA comes in and calls me a hypocrite - and brings up some topic from March that is so long ago away that he can intentionally mischaracterize without me being able to pull up the posts - I definitely get disrespectful at times in here but I come in with the intention of talking about the issue. Then everyone in the groupthink just makes fun of it (and me) and then employs all the tactics listed above. You sure do like to mention ion me a lot, but you are a hypocrite, mentioning handwaving as disrespectful, intentionally mischarachterizing, creating imaginary scenarios, you did it all in this post. Nice job.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 08:01 AM) Anyone else find it ironic that a Chicago sports message board is complaining about the same team being in the NBA Finals every year? Yes but the Bulls were at least built the old school way. The Warriors probably are in the finals without Durant, but at least the series would be interesting. They were great when they did it the old way, when stars wanted to lead their team to the championship not join one already in progress. Barkley gets a lot of crap for no titles. He could have signed with the Bulls for the minimum and won several. I don't know why that would make him better. The invention of the super team kind of turned me off. In the NBA they win more frequently. In other sports, not as much, and when they lose it's fun.
  16. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) There's a single nominee that's awaiting a floor vote right now (Scott Brown). He hasn't bothered to nominate anyone for ~400 other positions despite Democrats asking him to do so. President Trump on Monday wrongly accused Democrats of stalling his ambassadorial nominees in the Republican-controlled Senate, where diplomatic picks cannot be filibustered. Try again Don.
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 12:49 PM) yeah it didn't matter because apparently it was bulls*** anyway. if your only possible sources are right wingers on twitter, it might not be legitimate! So it was fake news fake news.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 11:08 AM) I'm not gonna say that situation was the right call, I didn't like it when it happened and don't like it now. I just don't see a reason for a thread like this, three months into his first season as manager, nor do I see a reason for "this is why the Cubs got rid of him" in game threads everytime he does something you don't like. It's ridiculous. He would most likely still be managing the Cubs if Maddon didn't become available. Obviously the Cubs didn't get rid of him because he likes to bunt. They even said he was coming back until Maddon became available. But he does run a game against a lot of the new wisdom. I have no problem with him going to Robertson yesterday. In fact he probably should have used him in a non save situation a few games prior as it had been 6 games since he pitched. And with the Cubs, it wasn't bunting that got him criticized, it was the way he ran the bullpen. I do question some of his moves, but Coop does have a big say if not the say in how it goes. He is in love with the bunt for this particular team. He brought in a pitching machine to practice bunting against some velocity last week. But that's this team. If the line up ever gets stacked, I doubt he bunts as much.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 09:09 AM) maybe the guy is just trying to see what his players can and cannot do while he is in a year where they are clearly not expected to compete. Which is pretty much exactly the same situation he was in while manager of the Cubs. This is a mulligan year, finding out if Adam Engel can lay down a squeeze or sac bunt seems like something a manager should know. Bunting obviously is going by the boards. The specific problem I had with Engel bunting, other than bunting, was having him bunt with 2 strikes even after seeing he wasn't close to getting one down the first 2 attempts. If it didn't hit you another attempt wasn't going to work unless you were very lucky, I just wonder what he was looking at. Like I posted a week or so ago, it all may be moot. The goal is to not have 4 or 5 guys in the line up whose biggest weapon in these situations is a bunt. In a few years, maybe they get there.
  20. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 07:00 AM) Their 2020 TV deal will allow them to print money for the foreseeable future. There has been talk now Harper might get $500 million. With all their young guys going to get really expensive at the same time, and tax penalties, keeping that team intact and signing Harper isn't going to happen. No team has that kind of money.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) There's a single nominee that's awaiting a floor vote right now (Scott Brown). He hasn't bothered to nominate anyone for ~400 other positions despite Democrats asking him to do so. I wonder what Merrick Garland thought if he read that tweet. Didn't Ted Cruz say if Hillary won, they might not ever get around to confirming someone? It's too bad it's come to this, but doing the right thing hasn't worked. As everyone but apparently Trump knows, you can't bring a knife to a gun fight. Dems have to give Republicans the same s*** they have been getting for years. Let them complain, but apparently it works. Trying to act like an adult hasn't, it gets you run over in today's Washington. Hopefully someday we can get back to that, but right now, you have got to play the same game and be better at it.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 4, 2017 -> 08:34 PM) You guys with closed minds are something else. I like to listen to all points of view. So Maher is OK and Rush isn't? Should Rush have been fired for doing this: At least with Maher it was a one time thing and it was a weak attempt at humor when they just got done discussing how Nebraska hates Democrats and the guy wanted him to visit and work in the fields.
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 4, 2017 -> 12:23 PM) Trump deliberately taking the mayor of London's comments out of context to insult him is just so pathetic and petty. I also don't understand his gun angle, to me if these guys had guns and not knives, the death toll and injuries would have only been higher, but NRA, NRA.
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 06:21 PM) Yes. 24-30 at the 1/3 mark. On pace for 90 losses. No scoring in the 9th would put the run differential at 0. 244-244. They were +28 four games ago.
