  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 12:20 PM) I'm pretty sure I drafted him in a fantasy keeper league 3 or 4 years ago. You must have been drunk.
  2. Holland is a flyball pitcher. He was a bad match for the Sox from the get go. With all the home games left and warm weather, his ERA will only grow.
  3. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 05:40 PM) Least surprising news so far. Not surprising and I wouldn't blame him, but he was the one saying the top 5 reasons he came to the Bulls were Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy, and Jimmy. That he didn't want a rebuild, and all the rest. So either this Jimmy trade talk is mostly BS and the Bulls planted it to get DWade to flee, where then they could totally sell getting rid of Jimmy and rebuilding even to the biggest holdouts, or he was BSing. I am going with him BSing because he still had time to see this out. But if he did wait, he wouldn't get anywhere near what the Bulls will be paying him.
  4. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 04:24 PM) When I turn my car off my windshield wipers keep going. I figured I had a bad fuse. I popped it out and put it back in and everything was fine. That was two weeks ago. Happens again today. I go to autozone and replace the fuse. It's still happening. Mind bottling. Someone tell me something good. You probably need a new park switch in the wiper motor. It happened to me several years ago. Cost about $75 back then.
  5. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 04:44 PM) If the centerpiece of this deal is Josh Jackson in going to cry A lot of teams really want him. I do think Cleveland at least rumored to be in on Jimmy, could change Ainge's mind. That is the one place he probably doesn't want him to go, but say they did get pick 3. Jackson is supposedly the guy they covet, but what if Magic took him at 2? Would Lonzo Ball be a no brainer? He does have questions. Obviously #1 would be his idiot father who probably wouldn't be too thrilled he was in Chicago. The other is his shot, it seems to go in but it might be a little tougher with bigger stronger more athletic guys guarding him. And I watched something yesterday where depending how you look at it, this is either the way the game is going, or a red flag. Supposedly he had only 7 field goals last year that weren't lay ups or 3 pointers. It is going to be interesting to see how he pans out.
  6. QUOTE (Tony @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 03:09 PM) Those were the answers I was expecting. So with that in mind....not sure how you can be against trading Jimmy. This front office may be completely inept, and it's a very fair argument, but it's more insulting for them to put together a .500 team every season just to collect a check from 2 Playoff games. The Bulls should be motivated to trade Butler just by making Wade either turn down his $24 million option or looking like a total phony just playing for the money if he came back. Call his lazy ass bluff. The thing is, they are going to have to get can't watch bad for a few years to have any chance and that chance is even smaller if GarPax is still in place. I know Pax has some fans, but even he has a track record of nothing. If they didn't luck out and win the Rose lottery, they would have been awful for years. He has fought with coaches, fell in love with players he shouldn't have fallen in love with, and has failed. Gar was a huge part of that, and Pax enabled Gar, another pox on his record. They should have been launched long ago, but if they trade Butler, which I will believe when I see, and Wade flees. That's great. Just fire them the day after the draft. GarPax is a huge problem. They both need to go. The best you can do for Taj Gibson is Cam Payne? I was watching something that claimed John Calapari convinced Gar to draft Teague. Nice pick. Point guards who can't shoot, can't pass, and have a tough time if they get to the rim. GarPax hasn't yet received the memo that the game is played a lot differently these days.
  7. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 01:49 PM) Holds do not equal saves. You will hear baseball people talk all the time that it takes a special mentality to be a closer and you are not going to get back a load of prospects at closer value for a guy with little to no track record of being able to close out games. If DRob is traded tonight and Kahnle goes 10/11 between now and the deadline, you may be able to tap into that value. He had some save opportunities in Colorado and was a closer for a period of time in the Yankees system up to AA. Show me a non closer with a nice save percentage. If you come in during the 6th inning with a guy on 3rd and nobody out with your team up 1 run and the run scores, guess what? Blown save. Plus, these guys are in positions where they can't get saves, only blown ones. Makes for a bad percentage and a horrible number to use for guys who aren't closers.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 03:18 PM) He was in possession of alcohol. MIP means you were caught by police with alcohol in your system. It was very hard not to get them in college. So basically he got caught doing what 99% of this board has done.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 07:45 PM) It's funny how people think the Indians and Cubs won't make the playoffs again . Nothing cures a WS hangover like the two worst divisions in baseball. That's where the 2006 White Sox got screwed The funny thing is, the Sox were on a roll that year about halfway through, then the wheels fell off.
  10. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 08:04 PM) You do realise that Eddy Alvarez didn't play college baseball at all and has put up above league-average lines at EVERY stop (including his current one, with a .345 OBP and a below-average BABIP with improved power and good scouting reports on defence)? I hype him more out of how incredible his story is than his MLB future (I think his peak is a utility infielder, and his demotion was not a good sign for what the Sox think of him), but he stands a hell of a lot better chance than Hickman imo. And he's 27 years old, and cannot hit, and the White Sox keep acquiring middle infielders. It's a nice story and he's a nice guy, but as a major league prospect, he isn't much of one. I personally think guys can learn how to pitch after a late start, than learn how to hit. Alvarez isn't going to hit. His second year of AA as a 27 year old isn't better than his first. Huge red flag. He isn't getting better.
  11. A. Retire B. Buy a second home some place warm, and another condo somewhere in Europe. I'm partial to Paris, but Copenhagen and Amsterdam would be possibilities. C. Travel more D. Lead a upper middle class lifestyle E. Make sure I leave a decent chunk to my niece and nephew.
  12. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 07:41 PM) Let's make a bet. 3 hours of future minimum wage* says Alvarez spends more time on the active roster than Hickman when all is said and done. *should be $100 minimum under President Sanders in 10 years. You do realize Hickman only pitched full time his last year at Iowa. I don't bet on any of these guys, but I do know all the things you criticized Hickman about as a pitcher, could easily be used to critique your 27 year old .220 hitting AA infielder mancrush. I would bet 30 out of 30 GMs would trade Alvarez for Hickman.
  13. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 04:55 PM) Whatever about where he was potentially viewed by some observers before a surgery (based it would seem on projection rather than any sort of college performance, which was seriously mediocre and actually regressed from 2014 to 2015), he is now a nearly 24-year-old (albeit with age caveats) throwing 90-93 in single A striking out 3.3 per 9. I don't see him as any sort of prospect without serious improvement. He's no Eddy Alvarez,
  14. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 11:12 AM) Northsider, what have you heard about the top 2 picks? I am not Northsider, but I am pretty sure their signings are fairly imminent. I think it would be a surprise to the players and the team if they didn't sign.
  15. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 10:39 AM) See, Avi's Rod Carew-esque Babip has lead to irrational exhuberance, such as calling him a "middle order bat." Or recalling KW's unadulterated BS of calling Avi's potential as "30-30." Now, drop his Babip to a league average Babip, or even slightly above average, and Avi's a below average player, at best. Re-signing him would be insanity, IMO. It's a Curse most White Sox fans have. A guy like Avi has a great year, and it comes back to he isn't this, he is what he was. A guy like Q has struggles, and it's the new him. He will never be what he was. The longer Avi keeps hitting, the closer we come to the end of it's just a mirage talk. He won't hit .340. But I think he can maintain a much better than average BABIP. His last 450 PA, he is hitting over .300 with an OPS over .850.
  16. Shields activated, Gonzalez to DL with shoulder joint inflammation.
  17. They have won 3 in a row and have an 11 game lead. if they haven't been willing to meet the price for Robertson yet, it looks like it may be a while. They need some bullpen help, no one is saying otherwise, but the huge lead gives them time.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 07:24 PM) Bulls may be a part of this celtics sixers trade Vinyl Goodwill says the Celtics love Jackson, would nab him at 3, and the difference in pay in the 1 vs. 3 slots allows them to max Hayward.
  19. After winning 4 of 5, they are on a pace to win between 73 and 74 games. The team sucks. Parts will proabably be sold off, and more losing will occur. Reality is they have no chance this year even with others playing as bad as they can play and the White Sox playing better than anyone could have imagined. But for the most part, they are far more interesting to watch than I was anticipating.
  20. QUOTE (kwill @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 12:22 PM) Where is Charlie Tilson? Probably hanging out with Brett Lawrie.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 06:24 PM) Otherwise known as "road games." Since you want to be a smart ass, there are 2 road games played in Chicago.
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 04:34 PM) So Fultz goes to Philly and gets hurt and misses a year. Yeah, they probably want to give him a physical to make sure he is already hurt.
  23. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 09:28 AM) "Sir, we have cut you off of chemo treatment as you have reached your insurance lifetime limit. Good news though, there are some boats that need cleaning. That should help you pay the 300,000 health insurance bills!" Cheaper, better care for everyone. Trump keeping his promises.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 08:52 AM) Or is he saying that Mueller, while interviewing for the Director's position..or perhaps discussing informally before Comey was fired as Mueller was formerly director...advised Trump to fire Comey? Nothing makes any sense. I thought Trump basically admitted the Rosenstein memo had nothing to do with it in the Lester Holy interview? Trump's ego wouldn't let him say his firing someone wasn't his idea. Now it might bite him in the ass. Good for us all.
