Q may get moved "sooner than you think"
Dick Allen replied to Princess Dye's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 03:12 PM) Kinda figured it would be that way. Could say the same had they traded Q in December. While I figured some guys would be left, I figured once the traded Sale and Eaton, at least another 1 or 2 would have been gone before the season started. Obviously, expecting 8 or 10 major league trades in a couple of months is a bit much, but I thought it would be at least a little bit quicker. -
Q may get moved "sooner than you think"

It's hard to believe this rebuild started with such a bang, and 7 months later we are still awaiting the next trade. Although I think he can be a very useful player, I don't think he is an .800 OPS guy, and I doubt anyone else does either, but the stock will never be higher with Leury Garcia if he can get back soon. No use waiting for a future bench player on the team when it is good again to get more expensive. That's another guy I would be looking to move. -
Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell
Dick Allen replied to username's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 02:21 PM) Swarzak also has no history of being this good, or close to it. That will be the big negative when it comes to him. Duke, at the time, wasn't a rental either. Maybe Swarzak's more than occassional dominance makes up for it. A Tilson-like prospect makes some sense. -

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 02:25 PM) Should be noted today is an off day of sorts for media. For beat writers, They're either traveling or have two consecutive days for the last time until October (other than vacation). Don't most team beat writers get the weekends at home off? -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 01:40 PM) Do we know who it should be if they kept the rotation intact? I'm guessing Miguel Gonzalez. -
Games you've attended - starting pitchers - good or bad luck
Dick Allen replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I used to go to at least 65 games a year so it really was spread out. The last couple of years I have had weekends, and it seems since they got Shields, he's been pitching a lot on weekends. When the both are healthy Shields and/or Gonzo has almost been a lock. And it would be OK, but at least 3 or 4 times the game was over in the 1st or 2nd inning. Makes for an uninteresting game. Last time I saw Shields the game was over in the first. My brother lives in Switzerland and was in town and wanted to go to a game. He told me Thursday or Friday. Shields was pitching Thursday. Thank God he decided Friday. And it was a nice game. 3 in the 9th to beat Texas. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 01:26 PM) Not sure, but the sample of his starts on 6 or 7 days rest would probably not be statistically significant. I'm just speculating on what I can recall historically with White Sox pitchers and the general routine nature of starting pitchers. Why wouldn't it be significant? If you are saying it's a problem, his actual results would seem a pretty good indicator rather than your recollection , and for his career, he has been just about the same, a slightly better ERA with 6 or more days rest (23 starts), than 4 days rest which would be the typical amount. -
QUOTE (Scoots @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 11:59 AM) Dann it! Lol. I'm going to the game on Friday, my last of the season, and the other one I went to Holland started (lost 10-4). Was really hoping for A to be friday, but I guess I'll have to live with Jimmy Shields. I guess they really are trying to not have Q pitch the 31st or 30th...are they close to making a deal??? It also buys them some more time to trade him before he could hurt himself or his stock, although performance-wise, unless he was just Jon Lester Sunday bad, I don't think a bad start does anything to his value. And I don't think pitching a perfect game makes every prospect available. His track record speaks for itself.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 11:25 AM) Just announced. Fri - Shields Sat - Holland Sun - Quintana Praise the lord. I am going Sat and Sunday and avoid Jimmy Shields. I have been to way too many of his starts. Of course, the too many number could be 1 for most. I think I have been to about 6 or 7. The only time he was decent was vs the Cubs last year. -

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 10:21 AM) But the almost three team deal on Christmas Eve wasn't really reported until a few months later right? We have a couple weeks til the deadline still but I trust Rabbit and Dave. I also know not to jump the gun and will wait til a big name says it's close or done. And it wasn't Q. That was sort of taken out of context by many. It was a Hahn quote from Soxfest when someone asked him about trade timing. He said he had something that he thought would be done on Christmas Eve that didn't happen. I'm thinking it's Robertson to the Nats, because a couple of months later Hahn said there hasn't been anything close with Q. -

Dick Allen replied to Princess Dye's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Nightengale has nothing. Rosenthal has nothing. Heyman has nothing. Passan was all over the place, nothing specific. Those guys saying something is close would seem to help the White Sox extract a bigger package. So if something is close, I question the lack of leaks, unless the package is so premium, they would be worried the opposite side would pull out if word leaked out. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 09:43 AM) I really dislike the Jim M. "deep sigh, why do I have to write about this" genre of articles. https://www.southsidesox.com/2017/7/12/1595...ir-delivery-too He has a point. We have heard it all before. Hahn may be lying, but he has said before nothing was anywhere near close with Q. You wouldn't have concluded that with the previous rumors, the exact same kind of rumors we see now. This could be more BS. I think he is like many like me who are at the point of I believe it when I see it. I am not at the point where I am refreshing the screen every 10 seconds, because I bought too much of it previously. Eventually it will happen. Maybe today. Maybe in the next couple of weeks. Maybe next winter. Maybe in 2020. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 08:40 AM) Passan did last night. He also said he could wait until the offseason when 29 teams may bid. He didn't really commit, it was sort of a "see I told you so" if a trade does happen soon, and a well I told you he may wait until the winter if nothing happens. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 01:57 AM) It's really almost depressing to read these reviews about United. I realize if your trip is "OK" with no real problems you are probably not apt to post a review but wow. It's almost embarrassing this is an American business. https://www.yelp.com/biz/united-airlines-sa...isco-2?start=20 Unless I had just an awful trip, I wouldn't ever think of putting a review on Yelp about an airline. I'm guessing most people are the same. United has some problems, but they all do. Some stuff should never happen, like what happened to Rock Raines, but it happens elsewhere as well.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 03:14 PM) Senator Orin hatch says these emails aren't relevant to Trump admin. Keep in mind that senior advisor Jared kushner is up to his neck in this. https://twitter.com/MattLaslo/status/884812...src=twsrc%5Etfw It's sickening. All that matters is the R behind Trump's name, and the funny thing is, he's not even really a republican. But as long as he has that R behind his name the republicans will look the other way, at least until the tax cuts for the rich and the death warrant for the poor and unhealthy becomes law.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 02:39 PM) One thing that's not really being discussed right now is that Russia would obviously have had huge leverage over the whole Trump clan. They would have known about all of these communications they keep lying about and not disclosing. They're compromised top to bottom. I think they were already compromised. Trump won't release his taxes. As he has said many times when people or organizations won't release information, "There must be something wrong."

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 02:38 PM) Hindsight is always 20/20 I admittedly was very against Aaron Judge being a big part of a potential Q/Sale trade package because I was scared about him making enough contact vs. mlb pitching...I was very wrong. There was a couple pages of Aaron Judge shaming. Why would the White Sox want him? The picture image of a bust. I don't know if the Yankees would have traded him for Sale. I don't know if he was traded if he would be doing what he is doing, but if he was, my God, how excited would we all be about him?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 02:18 PM) That is a quality reframing, I will admit that. What it doesn't identify is that this is what is somehow being made public, not what is happening at the intelligence level. Just because we are now learning of it, doesn't mean they are. In fact the whole idea that more and more top secret intelligence is being leaked only reinforces the political nature of this now. So we are back to a political operation that denigrates our entire government stability and standing while risking war with our most dangerous enemy, all in an attempt to delegitimize someone who needs absolutely no help delegitimatizing himself in front of the entire world. Yet when it was Hillary's and her staffs' emails that were hacked, and Wikileaks made public, this holier than thou attitude didn't persist. In fact, most of the right WELCOMED AND APPLAUDED IT. They just have a problem when they are the ones who have private conversations leaked. And we have these because Jr. put them all on twitter. Dems have tried the go high technique. Unfortunately all that is left is to out Trump Trump. And the right can't complain since they do absolutely nothing about Trump when he is sexist or classless, or just plain dumb except mention Hillary or Obama and look the other way. When they mention the troubles with leaks, then have a problem with Hillary's leaks.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 01:32 PM) If they were willing to give up Russell for Quintana then I don't think we would get much beyond him, maybe a lottery ticket or two at best. I think the White Sox should stay out of the wife beater business. -
QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 12:32 PM) He also said the purpose of the meeting was to talk about US-Russian adoption policy. All these emails are about getting dirt on Hillary Clinton. Remember when political people were at least GOOD at lying? And he thought it was important enough to get Manafort and Jared involved. So obviously he thought it would or could be something yuge. Nothing will happen to him obviously. One thing Trump didn't lie about was he could shoot someone on 5th Ave and not lose votes. This isn't even close to that. If it were Hillary and Chelsea instead of Sr. and Jr. it would be a lot different. Chris Christie would be calling in from his private beach saying lock her up. Trump would be tweeting up a storm.

Moncada wasn't on the table until hours before the Sox traded Sale and RH told Dombrowski, Sale was going. As soon as he can tell these teams it's happening, their best offer will then be known. The more the merrier. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 12:21 PM) Djt jr. only published the emails because he knew the nyt was about to. The emails had been forwarded to kushner and manafort, so they know about this directly prior to the meeting. Mueller had jurisdiction over this and prosecutorial powers. Wonder what will happen when the president pardons his son. Didn't he say yesterday he had no idea who he was meeting with until they met.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 12:18 PM) Since taking over as GM Hahn has shown consistently that he is willing to sit out the market if his demands aren't met. This started with his first deadline in the chair... he was putting up what seemed to be a lot of "big talk" at the time who many questioned as posturing.... however, he displayed integrity and kind of put the GM circle on notice. They all know by now that what the man says, he means. I have faith in his skills and background as a negotiator. As of today, there are several more teams that need Jose Quintana than the White Sox. Hahn has to make them swallow hard.

Dick Allen replied to Princess Dye's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm sure they realize the sooner they trade these guys the less money they will pay, and the more losses they will accumulate. Someone will blink with Q, I would think. I believe the return for Robertson won't be so great. I don't think 2 months of Swarzak will get you anything but a lottery ticket, but it's worth taking. Frazier stays hot, he may get you a halfway decent prospect. Melky is a lottery ticket type, as are the rest unless you go into trading Abreu, which I find unlikely. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 12:03 PM) Let's be honest here. If this were actually about the security and clarity of our elections, the objective wouldn't have been to publicly detail every single vulnerability in our electoral process. Much like our government actually operates they would have denied the intrusions, they would have identified the vulnerabilities, and fixed them all without admitting anything ever happened to bring the legitimacy of our entire governmental structure into doubt, from the top all of the way down to every single local election. If this were done like we have always done these things, we would continue to meddle in the elections of those who opposed us, again very silently, and figure out a way to even the score at the most inopportune times for Russia. We'd do like we have always done and run silent CIA campaigns to elect anti-Russian candidates hidden from having American fingerprints on the elections to even the score. But this has never been about neither the clarity, nor the security of our elections, hence the willingness to hand every two bit hacker in the world the keys to our electoral process in exchange for ammo against Trump. This has never been about the sanctity of our electoral process as the left would rather delegitimize Trump, versus keeping American confidence in our elections. You can bet your ass that if Hillary Clinton had won the election, none of this would have become public, and if it had every one of those 17 intelligence agencies would be out front denying everything about it. This is par for the course for the parties. The Republicans do everything in their power to personally target the President. The Democrats do everything in their power to delegitimize the President. The collateral effects of these actions is secondary for everything. They will worry about potential war with Russia later, and probably just blame it on Trump if it happens. What about the claim there was over 3 million fraudulent votes, and every.single. one. of. them. was for Hillary.
