  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 10, 2017 -> 10:33 AM) I'm really not trying to take up the flag for the molesters out there, but you cannot simply refuse them the right to make a living (unless of course, they want to do something that requires them to be in the presence of children or something). So if you ran a company, you would have no problem hiring someone the world knew asa molestor? There are many problems here. First, anyone who does this most likely still has a screw or two loose. It would most likely make his co-workers very uncomfortable playing with him, plus some have young kids, and would be scared to death of him. Third, the PR hit your team takes is huge. He has a right to work, but playing professional baseball is a privilege. He doesn't qualify. He would be around kids, performing for kids. Would you want your kid getting his autograph? Every team has a right, and IMO a responsibility not to hire him. There are millions of people with the right to make a living that can't make one. I wouldn't have any wife beaters my team, so you could imagine what I think about those that abuse 4-6 year olds.
  2. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 08:45 PM) The nba clearly doesn't want a sweep. Jesus Christ There are 12 million reasons the Warriors wouldn't mind another home game.
  3. Sox need at least 2 this inning or its about ova. If they are 20-0 when leading after 6, they are 5-33 when tied or behind.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 03:02 PM) I'm not asking if Donald recorded, I'm asking if there is an audio system that records everything. If Trump had the option to record himself I don't know that he would be dumb enough to record himself saying dumb s***. But then again Are you kidding me? He would love to listen to himself during Fox News commercials. His associates said he recorded in his Trump Tower office.
  5. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 02:38 PM) I see on the white sox transaction pages that the Nats traded some cat named Mick VonVossen to the Sox a couple days ago. Wonder is this is related to the Raburn deal? Seems quick for a PTBNL to be announced. TRANSACTION PAGE I'm thinking them getting a player vs. cash considerations had to do with him actually playing for them. Since he was called up, I think like the others before me, this is the return. Probably sucks, but Rayburn wasn't exactly worth much.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 02:41 PM) Is everything recorded in the Oval Office? Everyone puts tapes in quotes or asterisks, is there actual tapes of the conversations no matter what? No. Trump may record, but if he had a tape of Comey totally contradicting his testimony, I'm pretty sure we would have heard it already. The question is just like when he cleared to room to talk to Comey alone, if he does record, why can't he produce a tape that contradicts Comey? If he did, this whole thing might be over.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 02:33 PM) Yep. Curious to see what the Sox do here. Could always just option Willy Garcia. Or Minaya. Or Infante. There are lots of options. I'm guess W. Garcia or Engel go back to Charlotte.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 02:25 PM) Dont the Sox have the worst record in the AL? Meaning he got through the whole NL, but none of the AL. At the time he was waived, there probably was a team or 2 worse in the AL. But your point stands.
  9. Fangraphs called Avi's demise a month and a half ago. I think the projection then was .255 with 15 or 16 homers. The guy said sell for anything. He is going to come back to the pack a bit, but he's been awesome. If you can be "lucky" for a third of a major league season, I'll take it. He's been almost a 3.0 WAR. I think it's time to give him credit rather for what he's done rather than someone trying to project what he "should" have done. His last 405 plate appearances .302/.345/.515
  10. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 07:35 PM) There are currently only 13 1b in the league with an OPS over .800. Only 11 last year at the end of the season. I think many on this board are too worried about position value over getting the best bat available. Frank Thomas was 1B only, and not a good one. I think that pick at 7 worked out well. If they can hit, who cares? Besides, with the launch angle becoming a big thing, I think infield defense importance is going to start dropping a bit.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 09:29 AM) People from both sides of the aisle should understand how sketchy this is Unfortunately, that requirement eliminates one side.
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 08:29 AM) I haven't really seen anyone make a solid argument or any argument at all that Comey's personal memos would be classified or privileged communication beyond the surface level conflation of "leaks!" It'll be interesting to see how this and the broader defense of "Comey is a lying liar who lies except about the parts that were not-bad for me, those are all 100% true" defense they're running with. Yes, it's hysterical. The former director, UNDER OATH, called the POTUS a liar 5 times. Ignored. Hillary, emails, Lynch...WOW BOMBSHELL, credible source. Said Trump wasn't being investigated, PROOF, this is OVA, end this now. Everything else, nothing but lies and incompetence. Comey admitted he was a bit of a coward and didn't press Trump. Hopefully the rest of the GOP doesn't do the same thing, but it certainly appears that's what they want to do.
  13. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 07:28 AM) Who with better knowledge can detail the difference in getting the #1 versus getting the #4 pick in the draft. Is there a big drop off from the prospective #1 and #4? I don't think at this point anyone really knows, but there doesn't seem to be a clear cut ARod or Ken Griffey Jr. yet. If the Sox get a top 5 pick, they will most likely draft someone that a lot of people would rank as #1.
  14. I wonder how many people charged with crimes ever go back and use the "they said I wasn't a suspect" before they arrested me defense.
  15. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 02:47 PM) Facts don't matter. Sadly, I'm not even kidding. It's out there, and the Fox News types will run with it and keep repeating it. But, decidedly not "fake news." Alternative facts are still facts. They just aren't true.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 01:53 PM) I'm sure many of you (not saying you unless you confirm it) can't see the hypocrisy in the Comey situation. Before election: Comey EVIL for what he did to Hillary; after election "that Comey seems like a great guy." It also works the other way around. He was great, had a lot of guts, now a lying sack of s***. Trump of all people called him a showboat. One thing to keep in mind, Trump thought he could trick the Dems when he fired this guy by saying he wasn't fair to Hillary as the initial excuse. The excuse changed several times, until Trump admitted on national television he fired him because of the Russia investigation. This won't be Trump's downfall. Impeachment is political and republicans won't launch him, but its going to tie up a lot of things for a long time. Trump loves to point out ratings. I wonder why he never mentions his. Sad.
  17. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 12:02 PM) Do you disagree that she needed to STFU and let the guy answer the question she asked? http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_pol...nna_finish.html Joe being told to shut up https://www.yahoo.com/news/california-senat...-001638791.html Dems on a state level doing the same to a woman. Why do you guys always say what dems are horrible, destroying everything, yet justify poor behavior because previously a dem did it somewhere? If you are so superior, acting like a dem shouldn't be tolerated, and certainly shouldn't be brought up as a free pass.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 11:01 AM) When the best defense is to claim the guy was too dumb to know what he is doing. Thats a good sign he shouldnt have the job Exactly. I knew that they would use it as an excuse. Sorry, not in this position.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 10:49 AM) Fox is going to do nothing but focus on the fact that Comey leaked his notes and that Trump wasnt under investigation at the time of the questions. Most people are going to see that Russia was involved, the president lies and has been obstructing justice, Sessions was involved directly with Russia It would be interesting to see the difference if they could record all of this, erase everyone's memory, make Hillary the President, and have the exact same thing occur. The coverage, not just at Fox, would be so different.
  20. Donny Jr. is live tweeting. Not going so well for him, of course he doesn't think any of this is credible. Donald Trump is even a bigger buffoon than I ever imagined.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 09:00 AM) Richard Clarke has become kind of a crank, so I'd take it with a grain of salt, but clearly the investigation into the meetings has been followed. Yes, but this interview really wasn't much about his opinion. He went over how they confirm intel from outside sources, which seemed pretty standard. Admittedly, he did throw his opinion out on the British spy who got this intel, said he was highly respected, but if he was told what he claimed, that's really isn't him being dramatic just to be dramatic.
  22. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 06:55 AM) Can confirm. My boss at my last company I worked for lives (maybe he moved out since?) in the same building as him and like 6 other Cubs players (it's a block from the stadium so it makes sense for some of the younger guys). And I feel like adultery/cheating seems pretty obvious when players (any sports) are on the road anywhere from 7-10 months of the year. Isn't that why one of the reasons Josh Fields wanted to retire after like his first year with us? I agree. If you only cheered for the guys who didn't cheat on their wives, you wouldn't like many guys. I always thought it was bizarre Tiger Woods got crucified for cheating on his wife. He is far from the exception to the rule.
  23. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 08:08 AM) Is there still hype for this? It seems like everyone already knows what he is going to testify to. The temperature I get on this is that there isn't going to be any bombshell that comes out of it and Trump will come out miraculously unscathed as he always does. I try to stay away from following this stuff too closely because it makes my blood boil and there is nothing I can do about it so maybe I have the wrong read on this. It isn't going to happen overnight, and I don't think Comey's testimony will be Trump's undoing, but it will be a part. There is a lot of s*** going on. I think the guy's name is Richard Clarke, a former intel guy with 4 administrations. He was on yesterday, and they were asking him about the hookers and peeing dossier, and how the US intel could confirm it, and he went through what they would do, and at the end threw out a, from what I've been told, most of it has already been confirmed. For a guy who is willing to throw just about anyone under a bus, it is weird Trump's exceptions are Putin and Flynn.
  24. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 08:11 AM) Its going to be really interesting to get a bunch of eyes on his game. The scouting reports should become a lot clearer in the near future of what this guy may be capable of. We have been going off very little so far. He hasn't played in a year. His first couple of games, I think there will be overreaction either way.
