Here's Sullivan. He has some interesting questions. http://www.redeyechicago.com/ct-no-winners...317-column.html

QUOTE (shakes @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:05 PM) I like it. I think Nightengale is the only one I've seen mention he quit on his teammates. Normally, people hate nothing more than quitting on your teammates, but nothing surprises me anymore when you cloak it some crap hashtag like #FamliyFirst, you will get a particular group rushing to your defense. #TeamLast I think if you asked JR, KW, and RH what should come first for a White Sox player, his team or family, they would all say family. Apparently he doesn't need the money. If he would rather be with his family, his performance would most likely show. So really what he did is justified. Nobody ripped Michael Jordan for quitting on his team. Guys leave all the time for various reasons.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:58 PM) A bunch of dudes with separate agendas and hiding s*** from the media. Doubletalk, backtalk, everything under the sun Great way to approach the last couple weeks of getting ready to play a team sport intensively for 6 months I just wonder if KW knew exactly how this was going to unfold if he still would have done it. On one hand he has $13 million, on the other, he has a pretty big clean up in aisle 6.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:55 PM) Why in the world would he say that when the story hadn't broken yet? Everything he said was justified in this situation, even if he was the one who said something. Why can't Rollins explain to Sale and any other player who had a problem with what went down, why it was good that it went down?
-
If Jimmy Rollins went to KW and moaned, and then said this http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0315-story.html he is not a leader. A leader would cop to what he did and explain it to everyone.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:45 PM) Remember the 2002 World Series when JT Snow scooped up Dusty Baker's son as he crossed home plate ? Babysitting and managing a WS at the same time is cute. having your kid get a teammate more seeds is a bit distracting.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) It basically is the same as bringing in outside consultants to your company and asking them for their recommendations. Hopefully Sale and company come to respect the opinion that Rollins and others had. Outside consultants..one of the biggest scams going.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) Agreed. I have no problem with how any of this has happened. Seems like there wasn't much of a way around any of this. Like a few others have said, this would be more interesting if LaRoche walking away wasn't a good thing for the organization. If his walking away wasn't a good thing, this would have never happened. KW would have folded for sure if he had LaRoche pegged for 30 homers this year and he mentioned leaving. I wonder if it is true that Jimmy Rollins now runs the team. If he does, they got quite a bargain with his contract.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:31 PM) One thing I don't like hearing is Hahn and Ventura disagreed with Kenny's approach. Before anything was said, JR should have made sure it was a united front. What is interesting is the Sale comment and the link you had earlier about a meeting concerning upper management access to the clubhouse. The most interesting part to me is it appears Robin is on the players side, which I would imagine lines up with Sale's alleged comments.

The Braves went to the playoffs 15 years in a row with Booby Cox banning kids. Get rid of all of them.

QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:19 PM) so finally some one can take it easy on the sox management, the present management was doing the right thing without exposing the person who made the request. I still think they could have said deal with it for 2 more weeks. This way worked out in the Sox favor though. I don't think it will hurt recruiting free agents. If it is important for a future free agent they really want to have their kid there all the time, they will agree to it.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:15 PM) I don't think he's an egomaniac at all. In fact, that's pretty much opposite of everything that has been said/written about LaRoche. From all accounts, he's a very solid guy. I just think he marches a bit to the beat of his own drummer and the White Sox probably didn't really contemplate what his request was when it was made. I remember being at Soxfest and Hahn was gushing about LaRoche, saying they do so much homework on him, how he was the closest thing to Jim Thome in the clubhouse. It seems odd they would miss that he had his kid around him for 4 years in Washington. I do agree, he does seem to march to a different beat than most.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:12 PM) But they gave their word to the South! Comparing a kid in the clubhouse with slavery. I don't see how this kind of post is allowed.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:03 PM) Clearly Dick Allen is in favor of Slavery, because it was in the constitution. Total BS post. Should be suspension worthy.
-
QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:05 PM) Has anyone credible confirmed KW guaranteed LaRoche's kid access 100% of the time? There is a big difference between telling someone the clubhouse is family friendly (which never changed) and guaranteeing 100% access every single day. LaRoche's father, and whoever Kaplan talked to, which could be the same source.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:02 PM) Well, there is a concept in contract law called reliance. There's also this: There also was the highly publicized "handshake deal" Reinsdorf and former Bull Horace Grant allegedly reached three years ago. Grant opted for free agency and ended up with the Orlando Magic. Reinsdorf held a news conference and accused Grant of reneging on the deal and questioned Grant's character and worth ethic. "Why do they have to try to break a guy's character down in the public?" Grant asked after Reinsdorf's news conference. "It's repulsive, ridiculous." To this day, Reinsdorf sticks to his word about the Grant negotiations. "The Grant thing was done with the permission of his agent," Reinsdorf said. "Horace asked me to negotiate with him and I cleared it with his agent. Horace and I shook hands and Horace didn't keep his word. I'm just not used to that."

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:59 PM) Things should never change. Ever. Change is fine, but if you have given your word, that should mean something.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:56 PM) Which is funny, because LaRoche was going to be here one more year, at most. Yes but the White Sox agreed to this when he signed the contract according to most. I am of the belief people should live up to their agreements.

QUOTE (Baron @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:54 PM) I mean this sounds like a case destined for Judge Judy When the hair on the back of her neck starts standing, watch out.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:53 PM) Why not, the players are supporting him and would love for him to return. Too much. If this stuff didn't all come out, fine. But he and the Drake would be the center of attention all season long.
-
QUOTE (Baron @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) You would hope Adam has a little sense and just stick to the decision. Part ways and move on. But maybe he wants to collect some of that cash. At this point he can't come back IMO. Collect some cash because the White Sox reneged on a handshake agreement, if there was some agreement? I would think that is possible.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:44 PM) In all seriousness, how long before Latos gets blamed for going to KW It would be pretty silly to accommodate 1 player is in all probably will be here at most 1 year. But you never know.
-
QUOTE (napa_soxfan @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:42 PM) Looking forward to kid-centric PR and Marketing campaigns. The fundamentals deck is going to have a 4 inning time limit.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:35 PM) Your incredibly sophisticated views on properly educating children in the 21st century. If the kid is really bright, he may be ahead of other kids his age doing it this way. It isn't for everyone, and I would disagree with Adam if he thinks school is not important. But there are many students who wind up not reaching their potential doing it the traditional way.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:23 PM) Because apparently when you disagree with someone, the only solution is to yell at them. I take it you have never yelled at anyone. We weren't privy to the conversation, but it had to do with his career, so the yelling might have been something most of us, except maybe you, have done.
